Armando is the character that changes the most in all versions of "Betty". From the original Yo Soy Betty, La Fea [1999] (I am Betty, The Ugly One) to the most recent version Betty in New York [2019] after 20 years and dozens of adaptations, Armando is the main character according to Betty's eyes.
In all versions we find an immature 'Don Armando' who falls in love with his assistant. Some of them are funnier, others more affectionate, but what attracts me most from the original version is the strength of the character's transformation.
In YSBLF, we find the essence of the real Don Armando. A character full of defects: irresponsible, proud, conqueror and aggressive, with an indomitable temper. At first Armando is not a pleasant character, but Betty saw something in his heart.
Armando's feelings and attitudes are very intense and mysterious. There is a lot of speculation about when exactly Armando fell in love with Betty: if after the first night, the second night, during Betty's rants or even before all that. Even Armando doesn't have this answer, because he didn't know what it was like to really love someone.
I think it was a long process, Armando saw Beatriz from the beginning as his "guardian angel" and considered Betty the person he trusted the most. From this feeling of trust and a certain dependence on Betty, his first feeling was born, not confronted by him. This was not yet love; his pride and prejudice blinded him. However, even finding excuses and reasons, Armando could not tame his feelings for Betty.
The transformation of his personality takes place in a time lapse between the confession of his love for Betty and the loss of his hopes of retrieving her.

Lovely analysis! It is spot on and exactly why I love this character the most. Because he is both despicable yet intriguing. He represents the faulted nature of any person and the transforming potential of human interactions.

Brilliant analysis. It reminds me of the Pride and Prejudice's Mr. Darcy. Mr. Darcy is not a likeable character in the beginning of the novel. But his unexpected love for Elizabeth, whom he had also not found that physically attractive, changes him wonderfully. He would have gone to the moon and back for Lizzie and did anything for her. He also confessed to Lizzie that he had found himself "in the middle of love" out of nowhere. Lizzie was smart and charming like Betty, and also was a miraculous female heroine with a bit of sass. There were not afraid to confront these proud men and show them their own self-respect.

Colombia's version still sits at the top of the best version of this story. It wrecked the hell out of me tbh. Mind u I first watched this when I was 10 years old I think, but the emotions this drama gave me is soo strong, YSBLF is included in my all time favorite.

I never saw Armando as despicable or bad. He’s human like most people with faults but he clearly has a good heart. It just had to be awakened. It takes a special man to be awakened by a woman like Betty, to respond to her. Armando is that man. Betty saw it from the beginning that’s why she fell in love with him.

Yeah, exactly. Armando is a very human caracter and that's why he failed badly, he lied and did bad things, but also as a human, he could redeem himself. Like, humans are capable of the worst and the the best things. Betty saw his best side from the beginning, but she also failed and learned from that. Thanks for commenting ❤️

I loooooove that she kept her glasses! And of course, she is still gorgeous. Usually, in shows with transformations, the girl has to lose her glasses because glasses are ugly I guess? Oh and instead of having a ponytail, she lets her hair down. Lose the glasses and the ponytail and you'll be gorgeous apparently. Anyway, I love this series so much!

I remember this soap opera, must be 20 yrs ago. What I like about this is that Armando fell in love with Betty before the transformation and the transition to being beautiful was not that drastic like in some similar storylines, after all she still wears her glasses.

Hola Rozzan!! Muy bueno tenerla aca! Sabes que tus videos fueran lo que me inspiraran a hacer algunos de Betty, cierto? :D La novela es muy grande, mon nivel de Inglés y espanol no son los mejores, pero quiza alguno dia. Por ahora voy intentar a hacer siempre una version de la édiction con subtitulos en Inglés (y se possible Portugués también). Hasta hoy recuerdo que tu quisiera hacer una edition de Betty con la musica Hurt de Fleurie. Yo sé porque, al mismo tiempo, yo tenia descobierto esta musica y pensé que era perfecta para un video de Betty. Pero tu subio una amuestra de una ediction con esa musica, entonces preferi trocar y hacer el video con otra (por eso hize de la Breath jajaja). Pienso que no hay mejor persona para hacer una ediccion de Betty con Hurt que tu :D Anciosa!! Besitos!!

@@wanderbedits Oh qué linda! bueno, al igual que a tí, a mí tambien me inspiraron otras youtubers que hacían musicales de Betty, y ya es un hobby para mí. Gracias, Hurt está a poco de ser terminada, un minuto de la canción me tiene bloqueada y por eso aún no la subo. @@wanderbedits One more thing, I keep seeing your videos going around which is great but another suggestion is include your logo or page name throughout the video. Many people don’t see the credits at the end and then I see comments asking who made the video. I try and reply letting them know it’s yours, but it will be best if you put your logo/page in your vids but I mean while the whole video is running.

Es una de mis historias favoritas, sin embargo hay personas que creen que Betty no debió quedarse con Armando porque era muy tóxico, la trataba mal, debió de irse a Cartagena con Michel o quedarse sola.

I remember watching is in 2013 on KZfaq at the time it was only what a few episodes that had the subtitles. I didn’t know about this version until Midway watching ugly Betty on ABC this verse it is far better and so emotional. Every other day I was crying in my room. I went on the popular site, I think Crunchyroll or something like that to finish watch the season . The show was beautiful from the beginning to the end.

What I regret is that Nicolas has not been transformed alongside with Betty. that scenario did not use childhood love theme and they did not make a real rival for Armando. Because Nicolas was for Betty in all her life; he supported her, laughed with her at their ugliness, making jokes in order to toughen up against constant bullying from the society. he was her rock, he knew her secrets. if director used it and make them be attracted to each other, there is no telling if Armando would be a sure winner. At least he would have bigger chance to shine rather than Michael , a mysterious man that fell in love with Betty. we knew him in too short period of time to get to know him, to know if he did not have any ulterior motives for Betty.
