LOL, I’m 81 and will be having this surgery pretty soon. I made the mistake of watching actual procedures and not understanding, now that this fellow did such a detailed job of explaining the area from three directions, I need to go back and watch the actual procedures again. Thanks for simplifying and making this so clear, so even a layman can understand it a little.

I went to the testing and all I feared was getting erection somehow. Am a dude and I had the hernia at groin near the penis. They was a female who was doing the testing, it was embarrassing I was doing squats and sit ups while I was naked.

Made perfect sense to me. Very pleased to have found such a well explained video. I have 2 Inguinal Groin Hernias myself , one on each side of the Groin ( not yet classified into their Direct and Indirect categories by the Consultant ) but at least now I have proper knowledge where I can understand what my Consultant team are talking about. From my viewpoint of both Hernias, the Left side certainly looks like a Direct Hernia, while the Right side, found Yesterday, March 2020, could well be an Indirect hernia. All this actually caused by long term use (20+ years) of Morphine which in turn caused the Chronic Medical Constipation.

So... Male, caucasian, smoker with a constant cough and chronic constipation... Yeah, that's me. Was diagnosed with an inguinal hernia a few hours ago, though never told what kind, just that it would be an extremely good idea to speak with the surgeon I was referred to asap to discuss getting it taken care of. Specifically in regards to its interaction with the spermatic cord, I think it's an indirect. Fascinating description of the issue at hand and quite useful in regards to explaining it better than the ER doc did. Didn't think it was a medical emergency, but ended up going to the local clinic's immediate care unit since my doc is taking a vacation this week, then was transferred to hospital ER for ultrasound after doc assumed I may be dealing with the strangest case of testicular torsion ever and no lab techs were on staff that late in the day at the clinic. No pain, just discomfort and a testicle withdrawn toward the abdomen. Anyway, thanks again for the rundown. Makes it much easier for the layman to understand when drawn out like that.

Thanks....Just diagnosed with indirect on my right side... 52 year old white male with history of manual work... was recently constipated(was this a cause or a symptom? maybe I had already ruptured?) but not chronically, just one day, and was not "pushing" like a madman... this is the first explanation I've fully understood... so these "deep" and "superficial" rings(either end of the inguinal canal) are analogous to the rubber grommets that allow electrical wires/cables(spermatic cord) from your car engine bay (abdomen)to the interior(scrotum via inguinal canal) without letting water(intestines) through... and mine have perished lol... here in the UK a mesh repair seems the only viable option. My one is not sore and lying down goes away itself, and been out 7-8 miles with the dog each day... just got to avoid straining and heavy lifting but getting it done privately asap as the NHS is f**ked with this covid 19 hoax....

The direct inguinal hernia does not go through the superficial inguinal ring, otherwise it too would follow the spermatic cord into the scrotum. A direct hernia passes medially to the inferior epigastric artery and then pushes against the posterior wall of the inguinal canal.
@ayoobewonders52877 жыл бұрын
No, the direct Herna DOES pass through the superficial inguinal ring but the spermatic canal is too small for it to go all the way to the scrotum. So it bulges into another direction.
