Rare Earth

5 жыл бұрын

Today's episode isn't Sparta. But it does contain a 300 man army fighting back against 70,000 better armed troops. It's about Davit Bek, an Armenian legend. And more than that, it's about betrayal.
This video comes courtesy of us wanting to drone some spots on the drive to Kapan and needing a concrete reason to spend the money to head south. In the end, the expense was totally worth it. Syunik province is easily one of the most attractive places on Earth.

Many countries have had a story nearly identical to this one. A leader of the First Serbian Uprising, Karadjordje, was killed on order of the leader of Second uprising to buy favors from Turks (then overloads of Serbia). But in this case, it worked. The story here is not as straightforward as this one, however. That head wasn't even necessary, as Obrenovic, leader of Second uprising, has already bought many favors from Turks, who weren't eager to face us off in battle. I think you would find many stories worth covering in Serbian history. From the foundation of Serbia a thousand years ago, through Serbian empire, conquests, first battles of WW1, communism, and civil war. If you ever run out of ideas, pay us a visit.
