I just posted this at the end of another thread... I like this game, I really do, but this is NOT the AC I want. AC1 was like a Gundam 08th MS feel, but mercenary rather than national military. You didn't die because you fought fuckin superweapons every two missions... you died because the job put you in the shafts of underground bases with barely any room to move and the enemy was armed to the teeth with ultra-light mech fire to totally break you down over 20 full minutes. THAT'S what AC used to be. You did jobs. It was a _Sim._ Not some spiritual business beyond war and capitalism. It's getting out there. And if they called this something else or a spiritual successor, I'd be fine with it, like how I loved FF13, but people probably would have received it better under a non-FF name. That was the first big sign that Square got scared as a company and kind of went husk.

@@Virjunior01 I mean, they could've made "Coral" be a far better energy source to powering ACs than Kojima particles, which would've been an easy catalyst for Rubicon III to being sought after by many prospectors and corporations trying to milk the planet completely dry. Best interpretation I've seen for this song is that it's 621 and Ayre slowly becoming more in sync over the course of the fight with Balteus. At first, the drums and synth aren't really on beat with one another, they clash and overpower at random intervals, the drum bangs relentlessly with no pause or break, the synth's sound levels are at this weird fluctuating in-and-out where at first it's too quiet, then it's too loud. 1:52 hits, the exact moment Balteus hits his second phase, the drums and synth slowly merge, fading in and out, as if they're trying to find each other's pace, right up until the vocals drop at 2:47. Notice how all three pieces are now perfectly in sync, the drums beat in sixes, the synth rises right alongside it, both pausing and starting in time with the choir--quite literally finding their rhythm.

SPOILERS FOR GOOD ENDING! I actually think there was a deeper meaning behind the use in the mission (Eliminate "Cinder" Carla) Balteus Theme is named "CONTACT with YOU" This is actually referencing the contact between Raven and Ayre, she finally found someone who she can talk too, someone she can work with. In the mission where you eliminate Carla its that final straw between Ayre or Walter, 621 is choosing to side with Ayre and its calling back to the song showing that you and Ayre are even stronger than before and she is ready to work with you to save her people. This is my interpretation of course and going off of my belief this is just fucking brilliant design. The song is so amazing and emotional and it really gives you this sense of mystery and overwhelming passion, its like all of Ayres feelings are being sent to 621 getting more and more intense.

Time for a short story - so there I am, fighting this guy with basic weapons. Got a shield buster to wreck his blue bar, blade to get intimate, rockets for the hell of it. Fight is going great, have him below 50 percent of health. But as he hits around 20 percent, me shield buster goes dry. This is bad, for my own health is also not looking so good anymore. His shield is back to full, and I am growing anxious. We do the dance, and I am just desperately trying to knock off his shield one last time. Even then, no guarantee I will be able to deplete his remaining 20 percent in time, but it is worth a shot - better than giving up. Each barrage of red death chips away at my coat of paint, but me dodging persists. As the rockets land, I barely manage to dodge his flames. Then, a quick strike with the blade does it - the shield goes down. He staggers, the blade recharges quickly enough for two additional slashes. However, he is still kicking with about five percent remaining. Another barrage lands, leaving me with about as much. I know that time is running out. If his shield goes back online, I am done. Could happen any second. A retreat; yet, another barrage comes out. This is the end - but somehow I manage to dodge them all. And then it happens, the greatest moment of them all, like two Samurai starring each other down. We are close, so I put everything into one last blade attack. Suddenly, he does the same and comes in for a slash. Time seems to freeze, although it all happens in a flash. As my blade rushes forth, so does his. The hit connects - and the scene slows down, indicating that he is defeated. He is right in front of me, his fiery blade visible - but mine connected just a fraction of a second faster. I look at my sliver of health and cannot believe it. Bewilderment soon turns into joy as he explodes, the closeness of it all filling the screen with mechanical gore. And since I attacked twice, but the first hit was enough to defeat him, said second attack cuts through his exploding body in continuous slow-motion. Since I am a casual gamer, there is no recorded footage of me victory. But man, it felt so epic. The kind of moment you only experience once. (PS: You might also see this comment elsewhere, for I wanted to share the story as much as possible - cheers ♥)

True Balteus DID beat the everliving crap out of me for half an hour on my first playthrough. But I cannot deny I had legit fun fighting the guy, the music really helps making a first impression for this moment too.

“You need to focus on winning this.” Proceeds to die 30 times before finally winning with a ghetto Shotgun and laser sword, and pistol and 40 ac to spare. Man it felt good.

I remember fighting Balteus for the first time and the music made me wanna keep going no matter what, and tbh I’m glad I didn’t rage quit. Awesome game and glad it won goty for best action game.

Stubbornly fought Balteus with the starter build because I blamed myself and not my AC for my defeat. Then after three hrs of clashing with it my skills and reaction time were honed. The satisfaction of defeating Balteus after that felt like a life time achievement. Then to realize that was just the beginning.

According to the Official artbook Balteus, at least the first encounter, is made by RaD. Knowing how Carla fights in her AC, this isn't surprising at all.

Yall realize its the main theme at 2x speed yet? Smoother mixing helps masks some distortions youd generally get and some added elements to help that effect but its at its core the main theme.

I'm so much goddamn fun in my first clash with Balteus right now. I'm not sure if this will hold in future plays, but I'll savout it while I can. The speed, the rush, the feeling of learning to FLY. I love everything about the atmosphere. Nerfs be damned. Sure wish Ayre has a more game impact though. Would be cool if you had an ability tied to her.

Don't go rattling on your controls, keep a slow pace and you'll get really used to it like Quick boosting and assault boosting at the right timing of your spacing, especially lock-on and melee control
@Teixas6667 ай бұрын
to ad ot this if the previous bosses didnt convey the message, BALTEUS will: you need to be the agressor ot minimize pressure on yourself aka: AC6's combat rewards being agressive so trying ot outlast Balteus in a long range battle doesnt work(you gotta keep that pulse shield down while atthe same time being at close range lets you move around it quickly giving you a neasier time arouns the missile salvos and out of sight for the rocket.). @@idefkicabti4141

Fromsoft has really outdone themselves in terms of story telling with this one As far as story goes this is their masterpiece Dont get me wrong the gameplay is absolutely badass as well
@ASNS117Zero9 ай бұрын
Lowkey I kind of agree. I love the lore and worldbuilding in their Souls games, but the actual telling of a story in AC6 is *miles* above even the likes of Elden Ring and Bloodborne. They didn't go out of their way to be deliberately obtuse and make *everything* about the environmental storytelling. Oh sure it was there, still, but not having to pick apart every little detail to an absurd degree just to understand the plot is nice.
@DirtyMike124x10 ай бұрын
Blasting a couple hits of Nitrous and letting this song play is something else entirely. The closest I'll ever come to making Contact with Ayre. Can't wait to hear this song in a decade and be snapped right back to my first fights with Balteus. I just love this damn track.
