Other than losing shield i'm incredibly sad that they removed the "wearable under clothing" part of infiltrator suit. It feels like such a great flavor.

They removed it because a lot of armor is able to be worn under clothing anyways. They didn't want to imply otherwise.

No matter how much you modify it, full plate is still full plate. You can't wear full plate under clothes without raising suspicion (unless it's an inflatable sumo costume or something).

It is sad, but you can still do it - you're customizing the armor, and it doesn't say that you CAN'T do that. It is pretty dumb that they made both armor types look the same in the art as well, they described them as being very different in interviews with dndbeyond.

Something of note that you missed for the Armorer: In the UA, your power armor could ONLY be heavy armor. In Tasha's, it can now be any type of armor. This makes some of the new, finalized changes more palpable.

The armor is no longer limited to heavy armor, you transform any armor into arcane armor.

You could use infiltrator armor on studded leather or a breastplate that functions as a permanent elven cloak that doesn't need attunement

@@coreygardner9803 Arcane armor on mithril chain mail :) Remember, there is nothing in any of the armorer rules that says your arcane armor cannot be any type of magical armor.

I know everybody is excited about the armorer. but has anybody read the new description for the steel defender? It says that it can use basically any action. Meaning it can use magic items and grapple now. That is a big buff

Yup; I'm planning on making a battlesmith with steel defender, homunculous infusion and take the magic initiate feat for find familliar. Add the Noble background so I can have another 3 npcs following me. Party of one.

the dampen field for the inflitrator is a nerf because second skin ignored the stealth penalty so it would work with cloak of elvenkind to become quite stealthy. now you can't use the cloak of elvenkind to gain advantage on stealth checks.

With the new version, if you use armor without a stealth penalty you get flat out advantage. It depends one what you want for your character. Not everyone can afford plate.

The one change I'm sad about is losing shield. Seems like a bit of a hard nerf... But otherwise I think they did a pretty good job with it. Clearly they are trying to balance out the armor modes, which is good too.

Heavy armor that you can turn into +2 armor and shield? It would be extremely funny, but a little busted. Don’t need your tank being too Tanky.

I mean, Artillerist can reach the same AC with Medium Armor Master, gets Shield, and can give the entire party temporary HP with their cannon. I don't think that they should have removed Shield from Armorer, it neutures the subclass really hard.

I think the guardian got nerfed too hard. Losing shield of the temp hp would have been fine but losing both is brutal. If your goal is just survival you’ll be better off an Artillerist, who gets both shield and infinite temporary hit points you can share with your friends.

My player who's an artificer was super bummed they dropped shield. He has improved defence and a repulsion shield so he would just punch everything with his thunder gauntlets and use his spell slots to assure nothing ever hit him with shield lol effectively had a 28 AC. God damn I love that gnome.

@@WolframKZfaq if he really wanted to I would but it doesnt seem to be big enough of a deal that hes asking to stick with the UA option. He still has a 23 AC so it's not like hes an easy target. If however he told me he really doesnt like the way his character is playing now I'd let him swap the spells.

I love the changes since I started playing armorer. The nerfs are fine but the word changes gives a lot more flexibility and clarity

One thing I noted about summon construct It's 4th level. In the wording of all the summon spells they have something along the lines of gains + (fill in the blank) for for every spell level above y. [Y = the base level of the spell, so if it's a 3,4,5th etc it's (for every spell above whatever)] Except for summon construct. Specifically it's the only one where the construct gets bonuses for it being cast. (It's worded as for every spell level above 3rd, instead of 4th. You have to cast it at 4th in the description). Is it on purpose or a misprint you think? My gut says misprint, considering it's the only one of the class of spells that does that.

When I read the arcane propulsion armor my first thought was "Sweet! Rocket fists!" but there is enough of an overlap with the rest of the infusion and armorer's base abilities to where I think the intended user might be a separate party member. But even then I don't know what other class would benefit from the rocket fists, that wouldn't already have a better source of damage. The +5 movement speed is nice at least.

Any Strength-based class can use it well, as the force punches are considered melee weapons with the thrown property. Fighters and paladins are ideal ideas, but I personally like putting it on the Infiltrator after gaining Gauntlets of Ogre Power.

@@Rexir2 Armorer doesn't really need a "Dex build" because they can attack with Int. They don't need to max Dex for anything other than AC, and that's something you can get with medium armor.

@@antongrigoryev6381 That's true, but Dex is still useful for initiative, Dex skills and finesse melee weapons, which an Infiltrator may want to be high for their intended build. Str and Con can be cheated with Replicate Magic Item, but not Dex.

7:35 going by RAW, you can have arcane propulsion armor while being on infiltrator mode, which means you have melee attack options if needed. Or you can add it with guardian in case an enemy has lightning resistance/immunity.

Whenever I think of this subclass I'm reminded of a series of art pieces where some fellow basically went "what if X Marvel hero was a fantasy character" including a beutiful Iron Man made to look like a plate covered mage. So this feels like things coming full circle.

I like the addition of Thunderwave over shield. Shield is fantastic, but, with heavy armor (by 10th level it'll have +2 AC added due to infusions) and a shield (Specifically the repulsion shield that will give you +3 toAC) you'll have 23 AC. And yes, saving throws could still be a weakness but Flash of Genius can mitigate that so the loss of shield is probably for balance. Also, thunderwave works better since you'll likely be a melee tank. Having an AOE spell with crowd control capability (made better if you set it as the spell infused item, setting it at as a level 2 spell that can be cast 10 times a day for free) means more survivability for your tank. And with the chance to keep your enemies away from squishier allies you fill a reliable tank role.

I don't think you can put upcasted lvl 1 spell into Spell-Storing item. It doesn't have spell slots, it says you put a spell in there, and nothing says 1st lvl spells will be upcasted. Agreed about everything else.

I like the Infiltrator change; it lets the player upgrade the armor with Mithril or get mileage out of the Medium Armor Master Feat.

The tough bit is that you'd still be considered armored, so your Martial Arts, Unarmored Defense and Unarmored Movement wouldn't work. On that note, nothing's stopping you from using the arcane armor's don/doff action. It's morphin' time!

It was a bonus action to get a minor amount of thp, and it doesn't stack. The feature is now literally useless, giving you a total of 6 temporary hit points per long rest when you get it at level 3. Keep in mind this is in the book that lets you take the eldritch adept feat to get a warlock invocation that DOES give you infinite temp HP, and a greater amount per use as well. Why should a feat any spellcaster can take invalidate the core of your class choice? Especially when they've already been gutted by having shield taken out, making them the LEAST tanky out of the martial artificers?

@@-d_9894 Not to mention that the Artillerist can use their Eldritch Cannon to give anyone within 10 feet 1d8 + int temporary HP as a bonus action every turn for an hour, and they can use a spell slot to get it back. Compare that to False Life, which only gives the caster 1d4 + spell casting modifier temporary HP as an action once. I don't think that the Armorer's ability was too far out of line in comparison to a specilisation from the same class.

@@-d_9894 Blowing an action to gain temp hp is often a bad idea in the middle of a fight. Arcane cannons are great, but they can be attacked or caught in AoE, too. If gaining effective hp as a bonus is your goal, multiclassing to/from fighter for Second Wind may be good. Maybe dip further for Action Surge, too.

For the Arcane Propulsion Armor, I don't think it works too well with the guardian, but it is great for the infiltrator for the 5 ft speed increase as well as allowing a melee weapon built into the armor rather than the lightning launcher

Propulsion armor is definitely intended to be used with Guardian but not as a stack (5e hates stacks) instead it gives that form options, you can punch with force (Propulsion) or thunder (guardian) and you now have a ranged option with the "thrown" version to do the force damage.

I'm mad about the changes to Guardian. Guardian was already kind of an underwhelming choice. it's main draw was tanking and they took away 2 of it's 3 best tools to do so. Unlimited Defensive field was great, but balanced by the use of a bonus action. "I can gain 3 hp twice a day, hur dur." when a paladin lay on hands can do 5 real hp per level. now there's no real reason to play guardian over infiltrator. the Guardian damage doesn't scale, so their cantrip choices will outstrip it quickly, (shocking grasp/booming blade.) but they get multiple attacks at 5th level, so you could attack twice or use a cantrip, but that can really be a non choice when the cantrips scale better. You can use sharpshooter with infiltrator's weapon, but can't use GWM with the Guardian fists. (unless you want to get technical about Heavy Armour) There is a pure advantage of range over melee, so Lightning Launchers are more versatile. Artificers don't have enough spell slots for comperable battlefield control to a cleric or wizard or druid. and not having shield, is a pretty hard nerf for "a tank" who relies on magic. it can be gotten through Magic initiate, or dipping 1 wizard which synergizes with artificer, so it's not like it's inaccessible. it's just a hassle to be able to tank. it costs a spell slot and Artificer is a half caster, so it's not like they're using them like candy. i'd be more okay with losing shield if Guardian got buffed defensively instead of nerfed.

I personally disagree; being able to tank indefinitely is often considered bad game design unless it comes online very late (looking at you, Champion fighter). Battlerager temporary hit points rely on raging, which is a long rest resource. Artillerist temp hp generator could be attacked and destroyed, and any after the first costs spell slots. Concentration on Heroism can be lost if the caster gets hit. UA Guardian Armorer had no such limits, and they were expected to be wearing their power armor at almost all times anyway, so the limitation was moot. Losing Shield definitely hurts, but another way to look at it is that you're not tempted to blow through your spell slots as quickly. Artificers are half casters, so they don't get as many as wizards or druids, and they normally only get them back on a long rest. Those slots are precious, and thus should be applied with care. Comparing the Guardian's attacks to cantrips is also a bit off. At level 3, it does 1d8 plus your Int mod, which is likely 3; that's about 7.5, while Firebolt averages out at 5.5. After Extra Attack and an ASI, double both numbers to 15-17 vs 11; by tier 3, 17-19 vs 16.5. Most games are likely going to be played at tiers 2-3, with maybe an introductory tier 1, so casting cantrips won't likely outperform your attacks.

I wish they had just reduced the amount of temp hp on the guardian rather than limiting it to proficiency. The artillerists get as many bonus action temp hp as they want and they're ranged focused.

@@homiestudios8173 Understandable, but I would argue that the scaling of cantrips plus the extra damage from arcane fire arm could help make up for that. I get what you mean though. Edit: I also forgot that eventually they will get a second turret that will be a damaging one if they are already using the protector.

The Arcane Armor is "always on", whereas the Artillerist has to spend spell slots to create cannons. I'll withhold balance judgments until I have more time to consider, but the above is a significant distinction.

What I really like is that theoretically (this is off the top of my head so correct me if I'm wrong). You can make Mithral armor your Arcane Armor. Meaning you can have a high AC from Splint or Plate, and then have advantage on Stealth checks still.

The first thing I did when I saw the final armorer spells was ask my DM if he would be willing to let me switch out magic missile and thunderwave with actual defensive spells.

@@-d_9894 With the old version that had the unlimited temp hp bonus action, I view that as armorer's unique version of a regenerating shield. Having both in my eyes would be over the top, and I say that this having DMed an armorer. I'm not saying my opinion is the correct one, just that in my experience, shield is more annoying than anything else while the temp hp was a feature I thought was pretty cool. It reminded me of the shield from the halo games in a way.

I'm not seeing an issue with the added spells. If the enemies drop faster, they'll do less damage to both me and my allies. Also, Thunderwave can push enemies away from my allies, and it's both loud and obnoxious; both great features for a tank!

You seemed to miss that the you can put on or remove your helmet with a bonus action, and you can't pull gargantuan creatures with the capstone.

Making the description less steampunk (arcane instead of power armour) goes a long way toward making the subclass fit in generic (non-steampunk) fantasy settings.

For Arcane Propulsion Armor, RAW it doesn't stack with the Guardian model, but it does allow an alternative damage type. Force is great if you're fighting something like a djinni, a creature immune to thunder and lightning, and only 1 creature in the MM is immune to it. Because you'd be putting it on the arcane armor, I believe it would let you use Intelligence instead of Strength for the force attack.

To be fair, even if the pearl of power was an infusion, the ring would still be useful as you could now have two in your group. Artificers can't make the same infusion twice, so having 2 different infusions with the same effect could be useful. But the pearl isn't there, so whatever.

You can Don/Doff as an action, and you can use it as your spellcasting focus - does that allow you to cast spells from the location where you doffed it? (like Sentry-Mode armor standing guard behind you?)

For the Arcane Propulsion Armor I feel it’s pretty clear it’s two separate attacks that don’t stack damage even if they’re both fist attacks it would be like the player trying to argue their handaxe does 1d6+1d8 because they also have a battle axe and both are axes

Except that your battleaxe is not your hand axe, whereas the Guardian model's thunder gauntlets are also your APA's force gauntlets. I'd rule it expands the options available, but they can't be used simultaneously in the same attack.

If you combine the Guardian model with the Mobile feat, you can run around the place, free from opportunity attacks and imposing disadvantage on ALL ATTACKS on whoever you hit. Add Dual Wielder to that and not only you get a free +1 to AC, but you get to do another attack with your bonus action. That means you could impose disadvantage on up to three creatures. *But remember that the disadvantage is on attacks against anyone that isn't the Armorer. That's where Mobile shines, because it makes it easier to tag creatures and then run out of their range.* That is what a friend of mine did with a character on one of his games and the general consensus was that it was strong to the point of feeling broken on several encounters.

thank you for this video, i was looking forward to this!!! I play a UA armourer in a game and I'm pretty bummed about the big nerf of the defensive field ability and loss of the shield spell. I am the tank and it really hinders my ability to excel, working with my DM to homebrew something.

Getting free hitpoints every turn is already enough. Having acces to that and casting, with heavy armor and the infusions it provides, you should be really hard to take down. No character is designed to be immortal. And if you can survive physical burst better than the barbarian, it makes very little sense, considering we have access to absorb elements.

@@arthurrosa9403 getting the extra THP was not nearly over powered compared to say a barbarian's rage that halves all damage. At very high level the THP may become OP, but at low levels it felt fairly balanced (especially when you are the only martial class to take all the hits). The homebrew we came up with is to make it more like a rage, you can still only use the ability a number of times equal to your prof bonus, but the ability lasts 1 minute (like a rage) and gives THP every round (still takes a bonus action each round)

@@shaneb9160 If you use RAW, Rage is super easy to lose - all you need is to not take any damage one round. That's something lots of players overlook, and it makes Rage much more powerful than it is supposed to be.

@@antongrigoryev6381 or they make an attack... The rules say they just need to attack, not hit. I would think most DMs would rule the rage to continue even when making checks that aren't attacks (such as trying to break a grapple, breaking down a door, or even attacking an object. though this isn't RAW I think it's how most people think a rage would work (kind of like the hulk getting angry and just randomly destroying a car on the road) The trade off is that all physical damage taken from all attacks against you is halved. the more attacks made against the barbarian the more rage reduction becomes better than the THP. Because 5e is heavily weighted on action economy, this means that whoever is tanking for a party is more likely to be attacked multiple times per round, which means the rage will usually be better than THP (at lower levels).

I dont think the arms stacks but they do work together you can make the damage as Force OR Thunder with a range on the force and you can use it for melee for the infiltrator to have a melee option is my guess

interestingly, you don't have to use Heavy armor anymore, something I think you missed, so technically, you could use light or medium armor for it now, which means that there's a lot more versatility. for example, you could maybe use it with the bladesinger wizard, turning a set of studded leather into Arcane Armor, and using the weapons that it provides, or going barbarian to get the temporary hit points and resistance combo.

for the arcane pulsion armour i think they would intend for it to work with the armourer as why would they put it in a book next to the armourer if they didn't intend it to work with it or at least not think of it

For Arcane Propulsion Armor, I would say the damage doesn't STACK. You just now have an option to deal force damage instead per the Infusion. This just grants you a force attack that can also be used at range and 5ft extra movement if you are an Armorer. So it still does have more benefits for a non armorer given the rest of the Infusion is redundant to the Armorer.

I'm playing the Eberron Armorer Artificer in a campaign, and enjoying it (currently level 7). Regarding the changes, the change to remove shield is definitely odd, as the armorer can easily be built as a tank, and enjoys hitting 25 AC early on. Thunderwave is a reasonable replacement, but pushing enemies away can be a little counter-intuitive sometimes. The change to have the 'overshield' have limited use based on proficiency modifier is a fair change (however, meanwhile the artillerist is over here giving temp hp to the whole party every turn with their arcane turret). Setting the changes aside, being able to dump Dex + Str and go full Int and Con is pretty great, especially because the Armor has a lot of ways to use a high Int modifier (e.g. attacks with armor, bonuses to str saving throws [armor infusion], bonuses to yourself/allies saving throws and ability checks [flash of insight]). The Armorer can still do some pretty bonkers stuff that other Artificers can't. In terms of action economy, you don't have a lot of stuff going on with your bonus action, but you can take Dual Wielder and go to town with double gauntlets. Also, let's not forget the changes to the homunculus such that it can take more actions with your bonus action. Now it is able to use the Spell-Infused item that the Artificer creates at level 11, which means tossing out more spells, as well as double concentration spell shenanigans, as the homunculus keeps its own concentration (Web + Bonfire anyone?) All and all, I still think Armorer is a pretty solid sub-class, not at the level of Artillerist or Battle Smith, but viable, fun, and fresh relative to the other subclasses, with only a little power creep.

I agree about Arcane Propulsion Armor. I don't think you can stack the damage of Thunder Gauntlets and Arcane Propulsion. They overlap enough that the only real benefit you'd gain is the "Thrown" property and the option for Force damage. I notice that Arcane Propulsion does not specify what attribute to use, so I'd assume it adds the Strength modifier (as the gauntlets lack the "Finesse" property) to hit and damage rolls. Do you think an Armorer in Guardian armor can still use their Intelligence modifier with the Arcane Propulsion infusion? That's probably the one case that would.

My first proper character is a Dwarven Armorer. I think the Guardian armor Defensive Field nerf was really bad because the temp hp is pretty small and Infiltrator gets 5ft of extra movement and advantage on stealth. Then again I’m a new player so my sense of balance isn’t great

Im ... conflicted. The whole idea for an armorer (imo) is to be a tank with some serious AC. It feels wrong to not have the shield spell on this class, especially for the guardian armor. And the healing is slightly disappointing, but it also makes sense so you are not always topping your health off The shield spell.... so I know a home brew I’ll be doing

Honestly, taking away Shield is a good balance choice considering they're already getting heavy armor with 0 weight penalties plus multiple options for increased AC: having something close to like 30 AC as a reaction may be fun for the player but I would imagine it would get pretty ridiculous for the DM pretty quick when it comes to balancing encounters. Having to design enemies around one specific player makes it less fun for everyone.

I definitely agree on the removal of the shield spell. I'm currently DMing for an armorer and the one thing I don't like is the limit on the temporary hp. Of course, since I'm the DM I can ignore the rules and let him use the old way, but the change just felt unnecessary to me.

Armorer can easily pull off 24 AC with full plate and shield +2 infusions, even without the Shield spell. Artillerist wearing a Breastplate for no disadvantage on Stealth checks can pull of the same amount of AC (25 AC with Half-Plate and stealth disadvantage) with additional half-cover aura for all allies around its cannon, it can provide temporary hit points to all allies, and it has access to powerful AoE spells like Fireball and Cone of Cold, as well as access to Shield spell, effectively making Artillerist a better damage dealer and a better tank than Armorer, whose damage effectively doesn't scale past level 5. Battle Smith can only pull off 18 or 22 AC, depending on whether you use a shield or a greatsword for Great Weapon Master, but it also has access to Shield spell. Even without the GWM feat for damage, Battle Smith effectively doubles in Armorer's damage output using Arcane Jolt and Steel Defender, and the Steel Defender's reaction effectively makes it that all attacks against the Battle Smith are done with disadvantage, once again making it a more effective damage dealer AND a more effective tank. Considering that Armorer has already compromised its damage output for tankiness in the UA, it's really weird that they would take that away from it, as well. It still has its niche, but considering the amount of things other Artificer subclasses can do WITHOUT compromising either their damage or their tankiness, I would say that Armorer is currently scraping the bottom of the barrel alongside the Alchemist.

That's +2 hp per level. The same as Tough feat, which is considered pretty good. Plus you gain third use at 5th lvl, which is pretty early and lots of adventures already start there.

@@drite7758 If you're only taking your level in damage every round, then your DM is not challenging you enough. The Temp HP was completely fine, both as a player and DM. Armorer isn't a big damage dealer, they take hits. That's really the best thing they do, and they lost two of they're best features for that; Shield and the Temp HP for guardians.

@@severusdubane6831 No other class has such an unlimited source of hit points. Even if they don't stack, it's still a crazy amount of absorbed damage. The closest are Barbarians with Rage, but it has limited uses, it is easy to lose and it is their core class feature, unlike Artificers who already have Infusions and spellcasting. A subclass shouldn't get features of equal strength. Heavy Armor Master is also similar and is OP on early levels, but it doesn't scale, at all.

Yet, they didn't receive a nerf, which I find odd considering at 20th level they can, as an action, grant themselves 80 Temp HP unlimited, much stronger than 20 I'd say. Also, comparing a Guardian to Barbarian or even a Fighter is unfair as those classes are high damage dealers with damage reductions or high AC. Guardian is not a high damage dealer, their main role is support and distraction, so I would think that a refreshable Temp HP shield would not be completely broken.

You don't add your ability modifier to the damage of the bonus attack, unless that modifier is negative. If either weapon has the thrown property, you can throw the weapon, instead of making a melee attack with it." now here's what the new armorer subclass says about it's gauntlets... "Thunder Gauntlets. Each of the armor's gauntlets counts as a simple melee weapon while you aren't holding anything in it..." So if we charted them out as you would see in the weapon section of the PHB it would read as thus... Thunder Gauntlets "cost" 1d8 thunder "weight" "properties" So since they don't have the light property, and require you to be unarmed to use them, they don't qualify for two weapon fighting at all.

One thing I'm having trouble figuring out, and seems to be splitting the FB D&D community, is if you can take Dual Wielder to attack with both Thunder Gauntlets. The ability says both gauntlets get the lighting abilty and they don't have the light property so the feat would be needed, but no one is quite sure if you can.

I gotta say as a homebrewer I think Armourer is even less balanced than it's UA form. I think Guardian form is now CLEARLY weaker than infiltrator, even more so than you can argue infiltrator was as UA. Infiltrator does it's job, but with piss poor temp hp now put on a resource and a lack of shield access? Guardian, and armorer as a whole just simply can't be frontline anymore. Defensive Field's ONLY strength was that it had no resource.

I'm happy that they removed shield and limited the guardian temporary hp - this class was insane in it's own survivability and it's still amazingly good, totally capable of having a 25 to 27 AC at level 14 and all that without compromising the damage/support potential or multiclassing. The shield was the thing that used to push the AC up to 30, really crazy and problematic to any DM.

@LokiTetch The "biggest reason to play one" was the shield spell ? Dude, then play a battle smith or artillerist. The big reason to play one was the power armor - having that and shield was straight up overkill on the AC. Now you need at least a multiclass to start reaching ACs of 30+.

You get more than enough from the base armorer, stop being butthurt because they removed the shield from the totally overkill combo of infusions, heavy armor and shield. Artillerist can get 18 AC with a Breastplate +2 / 19 AC with Halfplate +2 and another 4 AC from a shield +2, for a total of 22/23 AC, and they will eventually get another +2 AC from half-cover effect of their turrets, which gives them the same or even higher AC compared to Armorer, but they also have Shield spell in their repertoire, they grant a half cover bonus to all allies near their turrets, and they can use a bonus action to grant themselves AND their allies temporary hit points without any limitations. All that while being able to dish out more damage than Armorer can, because Armorer's damage effectively doesn't scale past level 5 extra attack, while Artillerist gets Fireball and Cone of Cold, Flamethrower/Force Ballista turret and bonus damage from their Arcane Firearm, being able to outdamage Armorer easily even just by spamming cantrips and Force Ballista every turn, and all of that at safe range. You're essentially being just as tanky as Armorer, while granting additional defense bonuses to your allies, being able to absorb more damage than Armorer AND allowing your allies to absorb the damage as well, all the while you remain a damage-oriented subclass with powerful AoE spells and multiple other damage sources. So why would you pick a subclass that's supposed to be focused on tanking if you are worse at tanking than a damage-oriented subclass? And why would WotC nerf your tankiness by taking away Shield spell and by limiting temporary hp gain if that's literally the only thing you got going for yourself in relation to other Artificer subclasses?

Wasn’t one of the infiltrator abilities that the any armor could be worn under your clothes and it would be hidden. I’ve been running a dwarf forge domain cleric/armorer artificer who had plate mail under a finely tailored suit. Am I crazy or did I miss something.

That's correct. I'd check with your DM to see if you can still do that, as such a function would make sense given the model name.

Ok thanks for confirming y’all. I think it was such a interesting ability but didn’t think it was an overwhelming power. Idk why they would remove it. I was excited to hear Ted talk about the change but it’s ok. I know he’s pumping out video after video lol.

Heres what I'm curious about. 9th level you can segment your armor into its individual parts right. So could you build/make both armors for the abilities. Thunder fist, lightning thrower, etc etc. And make one suit with all the abilities that can be moved around. Like the t.fists and boots for the +5 to movement and the lightning thrower chest peice. All in one armor. But you would have to say from your guardian or infiltrator armor. For say the dampening field or the stealth ability. I dunno maybe it won't work that way. But it doesn't say you cant either. Yaknow. Kinda of a grey area to me.

Armor modification states that they count as separate pieces for your artificer infusions and use of your infuse items feature, the abilities that come with your Armor model are not infusion, their built in features and given they still have different abilities based on your armor choice after level 9 most likely means you can't do so RAW or RAI

I'm pretty sure it's not what they meant, the 9th level ability says you can put up to four infusions in your arcane armor, not segment it. It also never said that each ability of the model stood on a specific piece (temp hp belonging to the chest piece, +5 speed on the boots, etc). By this logic, lightning gem on the chest piece meant you can't have weapon and chest infusions at the same time, right? But like everything in the books, it's up for interpretation. At least I wouldn't allow it.

Removing the ability to wear a plate armor under clothes sucks; I was hoping to have a pair of travelers clothing and an Elven Cloak for my character, looking as though I wasn't "protected" by bandits or something, lending them to have a false sense of superiority during the start of combat.

Hi, here's what RAW says from the PHB... "TWF: When you take the Attack action and attack with a light melee weapon that you're holding in one hand, you can use a bonus action to attack with a different light melee weapon that you're holding in the other hand. You don't add your ability modifier to the damage of the bonus attack, unless that modifier is negative. If either weapon has the thrown property, you can throw the weapon, instead of making a melee attack with it." now here's what the new armorer subclass says about it's gauntlets... "Thunder Gauntlets. Each of the armor's gauntlets counts as a simple melee weapon while you aren't holding anything in it..." So if we charted them out as you would see in the weapon section of the PHB it would read as thus... Thunder Gauntlets "cost" 1d8 thunder "weight" "properties" So since they don't have the light property, and require you to be unarmed to use them, they don't qualify for two weapon fighting at all.

Can you infuse Arcane Armor at 3rd level or is it considered "magical" so that you can't infuse it?

Its not considered an infusion, so it can be any armor. However, I think if it is magical armor, you can't benefit from the armor modifications feature because you can't infuse magical items.

It doesn't say you can't turn a magical armor into your arcane armor. Just infuse some normal armor first and then make it your aracane armor.

As the Arcane armor is magic, if you use Mending on it, would it heal the user or would it be Temporary hit points?

I wouldn't think either would work. Mending physically repairs an object (in this case, the armor). It is capable of repairing a damaged magic item, but not of restoring magic to that item, so I don't believe it would confer healing or temporary hit points.

Yes. This is a thing that has bothered me for the Guardian model since the UA, but now we have that issue with the Infiltrator model, too. Not being limited to heavy armors is a huge boon, though.

You know I like the idea of armorer but it just does so many things that strike me as purely mechanical without any attempt to make sense (disadvantage vs. others but not you? the reverse? plate armor that just... is negligible in weight and can be hidden? Extra damage 1/turn on the lightning bolts?)b

@@arkfiya Power armor is a generic descriptive term that has a real world basis and has been in use since the late 19th/early 20th century. So even if Bathesda wanted to sue WOTC for use of the term, they wouldn't be able to for the simple fact that they weren't the ones who coined it to begin with.

The artificer class is one I've never given a thought about. I'll have to take a look at what the book has for this class, now that it's official, to see if this is a class I want to play. I'm pretty indifferent to it right now.

I played a gnome battle Smith artificer who used the steel defender as a mount, and that was fun. I encourage you to try it out, good spells and great class features.

This class is so balanced, flexible and powerful and people don’t understand that I think. Shoot long range 300 or soak your level of damage to very round! And soul of artiface with 8 connections instead of 6. Does anyone get it?

You can "soak your level damage" only Prof Bonus times per long rest. Depending on the campaign, it may be pretty bad.

@@antongrigoryev6381 It just feels... I don't know, odd. "Congrats on reaching 7th level! Remember that cool ring the Artificer gifted you? Return it." Almost feels like a punishment for advancing. XD It's as if they made a magical longsword that let's you attack twice... and doesn't stack with Extra Attack. Chances are if your class is proficient with longswords you already have Extra Attack. (yeah, yeah, I know; this still benefits other spellcasters... but we Warlock mains also have feelings)
