So true. I've had several debates with fellow Giants fans who claim Banks was better than Armstead. Most, if not all, were totally clueless as to Jessie's accomplishments. Banks accomplishments basically comes down to one game - SB XXI.

NY fans went from this right into Yankees-Mariners Game 5. Ugh

Same day? Man, I don't even remember this Giants-Cardinals game, I think I skipped it. Can't remember if the Giants were in the mix at this point or if they bombed the first month. I do remember waiting all day for that game 5 to come on and being beside myself with the outcome. Screaming, crying, wailing. Inconsolable. Was my first Yankee on-field heartbreak. I was 12 and had only been a follower of the Yanks since 94. I couldn't believe I'd have to wait a whole other year to see them get another shot, if only I had known that one more year would be the greatest sports experience of my life, I might have calmed down a little bit. Oh, and that we would get those Mariner bastards back by throwing a no-hitter against them in '96 and beat them in the playoffs in 2000 AND 2001. Life was good!

@@billny33 Giants were 1-4 going into this game. I forgot it was the same day until I saw something online about it. I’m still not over that loss in game 5 but it lead to a dynasty so can’t be too pissed

Krieg had no pressure- and STILL threw that

Story of Krieg's career: Never bad enough to be a dumpster fire, not good enough to be considered QB of the present. Case in point: never could lead the Hawks back to the heights of his career year in '84, yet they actually tried to replace him with two first round busts and, good lord. Krieg won both his starts against the Giants, oddly enough by the same score (17-12), as a Hawk--Stouffer played in 89 and was garbage, yet lost in 92 (KC) and here (Arizona) and was lousy in both.

What a 1993 draft by the Giants, Strahan was the 40th pick and is in the HOF and Armstead was their last pick because he was small and was in five Pro Bowls! Too bad Dave Brown sucked when they cut Simms after a 11-5, 1993 season. What a blunder by George Young!
@paulkelly82326 жыл бұрын
Couldn't agree more! Simms had one more decent year in him, too!
@billny336 жыл бұрын
Did they cut Simms because they needed to get under the salary cap and decided they would be better off going with a young Brown who they weren't paying much and keeping Simms' salary off the books? Was that still a thing in 1994? He did have a really good 1993, can't think of any other good reason why.

Sucked is too kind for Dave brown!

@@billny33 Yes, it was a cap decision. Dave Brown was a supplemental pick in 1992 which cost the Giants their 1st round pick in 1993. Bad draft choice by George Young. Brown sucked and it took the Giants 6 years before finding a good QB in Kerry Collins.
@busternutt28742 жыл бұрын
@@conservativeguy9329 I have to disagree with your claim that Brown was a bad pick. He had everything you look for and want in a QB. He just kept making stupid rookie mistakes in his 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th years!
