Went to basic training at Fort Knox in July 1982. My recruiter told me, "There is no good time to go to basic, as far as the weather is concerned. You just have to go and get it over with." He was correct.

So I lasted watched your videos was 14 weeks ago before I left for 11b osut so I'm getting a general discharge due to a bad hip injury that put me out of trainkng for 2 months. I'll be reenlisting for 12b combat engineer after a 6 month wait period. Nice seeing that your still making videos.

I went to reception in February 1999 and basic in March 1999. In my opinion the perfect time of year. Graduated in May of 1999. The cold was almost over when training began and finished before it turned hot.

You sure ain't lying. Yeah, true enough, I may have been honorably discharged from the Army in February of 2022, but the Army taught me how to be tough in terms of weather conditions. For example, when I was going through basic training from April-June of 2021, we had to wear our PT gear when it was so cold outside. I'm talking about short sleeve PT shirt and short sleeve PT shorts. And now, I walk outside in a tank top when it's cool outside. Yeah, it may be too cold for that, but guess what? I don't care, and I grew out of complaining about how cold it is. But long story short, if I can stand outside with my PT shorts when it's cold, then I can walk outside in a tank top when it's cold, too. And honestly, it really doesn't bother me anymore. It's just my hands start to freeze. But as far as my arms, shoulders, neck, and back? Nope. Not even close.

I’m typing this as the video plays but I shipped to bct at fort Jackson at the end of September. I’m on con leave right now because I had surgery so if you have questions about that you can ask but yes it sucks during the winter! It was hot at first but it went from “summer.. summer.. summer.. WINTER!” Lol during training you’re always outside. Especially after red phase you don’t even eat at the defac, you’re just eating outside a lot ☹️ if you can go during summer, do it. You get warm weather clothing but you can only wear what they tell you to which usually isn’t warm enough because they need to “climatize” you

I enlisted like two months ago. I didn’t choose any delayed entry and there is a queue for when BCT opens up again and mine starts Nov. 2nd at Fort Leonard Wood. Been exercising and dieting like crazy trying to prepare, but nothing can prepare me for cold BCT. Thank you.

Kirkland Wilson You’re going to be taking the current APFT and not the ACFT. If you do take the ACFT in basic it’ll just be a diagnostic. But the knee tucks aren’t that bad. I’m horrible with pulling exercises but I ended up maxing it today on my ACFT diagnostic. What you gotta look out for is the sprint drag carry.

Kirkland in my company like 20 people did more than 2 leg tucks. Start doing cord exercises so you can be more prepared. I’m in week 4 of osut and I’m in HBL rn

Can't help you on the shaving thing, but if you have access to hot coffee, mre instant or other, drop a bit of bacon grease in it, it works (sent to Misawa, Japan in Winter).

The military isn't for everyone I was the same way I joined sayed I'm gonna do my 20 and retire but after my enlistment was up I got the hell out.

This time around im excited and my mind frame is different because I have goals I've delayed long enough.
