That's just a reflection. There is an external battery pack that can be used on the NVGs for use without the helemt, but you don't really see them often. 9.99 times out of 10, if the goggles aren't on the helmet, there's no power to them. Those NVGs don't have a built in battery.

Couldn't of gotten an active duty crewchief to do this??? A true crewchief will NEVER call themselves a door gunner.

This is a video for the general public as a recruiting tool. An AD Crew Chief would’ve said the same thing.

You can still hear out of both ears without the CEPs...I never wore CEPs and could hear just fine.
