I feel like it is necessary to point out that Chan is super inclusive. When you talked about the 'advice on periods' thing, he said people or person or something, not girls. I know most people don't care but it's always good to mention it because it's very lovely. 🥰

As a comment said Woojin is no longer part of skz so skz is 8, Bangchan is often called Chan mostly but also Bangchan, or chris are just fine, Han goes by either Han or Jisung but since there are so many Jisungs in the kpop industry its mosty Han. The members use Felix's Korean name often so this is just a heads up to not be confused when the members start talking about a person called "Yongbok", they have a few nicknames for him too. The guide you watched is a short guide, so it misses a lot of details but it did cover the very basics, skz don't really have any roles only units, 3racha (Bangchan, Changbin, Han are the producing unit of Skz, Danceracha (Lee Know, Hyunjin, Felix) are as the name suggests the dance unit, Vocalracha (Seungmin, I.N.) are the vocal unit. Every member raps and or sings, just depends on the track or concept. ALSO back door is the sequel to God's Menu check it out

Trivia: Bang Chan is the one who selected all the members of Stray Kids, and he's also the one who created (hand-drawn) Stray Kids' logo.

Stray kıds have 8 members now. Woojin left the group in 2019 and is a solo artist now It shocked me that you didn't know Hyunjin, he's probably the most popular I am Chan and I. N biased! And Jeongin and I. N are the same Person hahahaha

aside from the aussie line, Han (jisung) and seungmin speak really well as they both learnt when they were young. Han learnt when he went to school in malaysia and seungmin learnt when he lived in the states for a couple of months when he was young. Changbin has really improved because he's made felix teach him and speak to him in english. Hyunjin is studying english at uni and speaks it with felix a decent amount. Leeknow and I.n both have basic english skills and I.n sounds the most aussie out of all the korean memebers >_

It's fun because mostly when ppl got into SKZ or just knows who they are, Hyunjin and Felix is the first thing they learn about. Or already knows about them or have heard of them somewhere. So it's kinda cool and suprising! Especially when you know all of them besides Hyunjin 🤣

It’s actually a running joke in the fandom that the members are becoming aussieboos haha. except for Han he just keeps getting more British lol. In order of who’s most fluent to least fluent in English- i would say it’s this: Felix (had to learn Korean, so English is his first language but fluent in Korean too now) Bangchan (born in Korea, raised in Sydney, but moved to Korea and trained for almost 10 years there so he’s fluent in both) Seungmin (fluent in English and has perfect pronunciation on almost everything that I’ve seen. He’s also been an MC for After School Club where uses mostly English ) Han (he’s fluent in English and he studied in Malaysia for a couple years where I think they use English a lot) Changbin and Hyunjin (they aren’t “fluent” fluent but they’ve improved so much and can hold quite a bit of conversation.) Then I.N (the fluent members try and help him whenever he has to express himself in English. He’s gotten so much better over the years though!) And Lee Know (he doesn’t understand much but can say the standard English phrases. The members also help him with English but he’s usually the most quiet in English interviews.)

Stray kids are doing a come back soon so I highly suggest listening to their last year’s ‘NOEASY’ album (which is a play on word for noisy due to haters calling their music as only noise) which has the ‘Thunderous’ title track. I think it’s a great album for new fans to listen to since you can get an idea of the range of genre that they can do. Most of the songs have a music video but don’t skip the one that doesn’t cause the album is a total no skip for me.

I really dislike when fans do this and confuse people who are trying to learn. Why is it so hard to just use their stage names at least in videos for new fans or people who want to learn about them. People know Hyunjin but not really Stray Kids and there're millions who literally discovered the group because of him))) Kpop fans says Hwang Hyunjin is bigger than whole 4th gen, cause most streamed fancams as only male idol from 4th gen, only male idol who has 20 Million views on solo performances and most searched on TikTok (fun fact 10.5 Billion.. insane) Called Kpop Performance Leader, opened the whole MAMA21 And is the most biased idol from 4th gen and 2nd after Taehyung in the entire Kpop. His Psycho Fancam was a cultural reset)))) Pinterest was full of his pics. Exceptional dancer who's very versatile.

I was so surprised when you didn't know about Hyunjin, he's the most popular member 😋 I loved your reaction and hope to watch more! 🥰 Stray Kids are so versalite it's hard to reccomend one song. For seeing their vocals I reccomend Neverending Story live version, for seeing how amazing performers they are I reccomend Victory Song 2020 Mama and Cheese + Thunderous (hero ver.) from Mama 2021 (it's one performance split into two parts) and also God's Ddu Ddu Ddu Ddu from Kingdom but they were incomplete there (without Hyunjin who is their center), for seeing hiw awesome rappers they are I reccomend Maze of Memories (there is only color coded lyric video), for seeing how unique they are I reccomend Side Effects and Red Lights 😊

There aren't official positions anymore, other than leader. One of the many ways in which SKZ is different is that set positions were explicitly removed from the group; every member is a versatile all-rounder, and they move around to fill different roles in different songs, depending on what they want and what each song requires. If they could only pick one thing to do at a given moment, Danceracha/the dance line would generally choose to focus on dance, Vocalracha/the vocal line would generally choose to focus on vocals, and 2/4 of the primary rap line (the two who are in 3RACHA rather than Danceracha) would generally choose to rap. But the third most frequent rapper? He's part of Danceracha. So's the fourth most frequent rapper. And the fifth. (Which means all three "dancers" are the primary lead/sub-rappers, or what would be called lead/sub-rappers in a group with official positions.) Chan, a member of 3RACHA, who is very much a rapper when performing with just 3RACHA as a rap trio, rarely raps much in SKZ songs; despite being part of 3RACHA, he does more vocals than rap when performing with SKZ as a whole, and all three Danceracha guys rap more often than he does. The go-to guy to sing the extended high notes? He's not in Vocalracha -- he's in 3RACHA and is one of the two most frequent rappers (what would be the main rappers in a group with official positions). The acknowledged prettiest falsetto is one of the Danceracha guys (who, remember, are the third, fourth, and fifth most frequent rappers). The "shock everyone with his deep voice" guy is also a Danceracha member. The member of Vocalracha who'd be the main vocalist in a group with official positions is on record as speaking faster than the two most frequent rappers (both of whom are in the top level of fastest 4th-gen rappers), and he's filled in for one of them on main rap parts in a major performance, in addition to having his own rap parts in multiple songs. SKZ flexed -- twice -- by sending their _rappers_ to sing on Masked Singer. So despite the terms still getting thrown around in casual reference by both STAY and SKZ, there's no longer actually an official lead vocal or main dancer or whatever. We and SKZ use the terms as shorthand because we generally know who's being talked about in what context, but it's unofficial. So don't get attached to assigning anyone to a position in your mind. It'll 1] just mess up your comprehension, and 2] literally be wrong, since they really, truly, officially don't exist in SKZ. Chan had a lot of years to watch and listen in JYP training, and he collected an entire group of all-rounders when he got the chance to take his pick of the lot. Anyway, the positions thing is one of my biggest peeves about the information that gets provided to new listeners (basically EVERY guide gets it wrong and misinforms new people by listing positions for the members, and a lot of fans do the same in comments), so please forgive me for overexplaining while trying to drive the point home. (The closest thing to an unofficially official position would be Lee Know, who Chan specifically chose for the group in large part so he would be the dance leader and take that responsibility off Chan's shoulders. So Lee Know is the acknowledged dance leader and very much fulfills that role despite it not technically being official.) My other main peeve is people misinforming new folks about the hyung line and maknae line. There are three members in the hyung line (Chan, Lee Know, Changbin) and five members in the maknae line (Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, I.N). Hyunjin often gets mentioned as a member of the hyung line because some people think he magically changed ages when Woojin left. When they line up in age order and divide into two teams, he ends up with the hyungs because that's where he falls in the lineup and 8/2 = 4. But you appear to be pretty knowledgeable about kpop and Korean culture stuff, so I'm guessing you already know how Korean age works. Hyunjin is a '00-liner just like Han, Felix, and Seungmin and is 100% considered to be the same age as them (despite I.N actually being more than a month closer in age to the September triplets than Hyunjin is). Anyway: three hyungs, five maknae, no matter how many people don't understand how age works and misinform you.

Stray Kids have so much good music - just react to anything XD. I will just throw some song names here, but honestly, you can just pick a random one from their discography - they are all so good. Thunderous, Domino, Cheese - from the last album are energetic tracks against haters, Thunderous is the title track. Double knot, Maze of memories, tortoise and the hare - are rap songs. secret secret, neverending story, levanter, chronosaurus - are mostly singing songs. side effects - I have heard that this is the first k-pop song in psycho-trans genre. hellevator - predebut, the very first song of SKZ district 9 - official debut miroh - the first win on a music show all in - official debut in Japan SKZ performed live 3 songs at "1 take" channel - I recommend it a lot. the songs are "slump" (japanese version), "mixtape: oh" (a first song in Korean language on that channel) and "scars" (japanese as well). All of the Kingdom performances are worth watching. I don't know if you have seen them all? Those are: miroh (introduction stage), mash up of "god's menu" and "side effects", "god's ddu ddu ddu" (cover of Blackpink song with a little touch of god's menu), I'll be your man (cover of a BtoB song), wofgang, 3 performances of Mayfly (ATEEZ+SKZ+BtoB): rap (playing with paint), dance (cover of Exo's "wolf") and singing ("love poem" you have already seen).

And so also in America we have the popular AU-themed "Outback Steakhouse" restaurants and on their menu is Shrimp on the Barbie. As an army myself I can totally relate to them takimg up a huge amount of my time and life. Haha. They always have had a huge amount of content to binge. It's only now that they're on a break, did I get the chance (and the want) to look into other groups. And that includes Stray Kids! It's been a few months for me and no regrets yet. I love them so much already. ♡

To be honest, any Start Kids song is amazing. Their official debut song is District 9 with Hellevator and Beware being pre-debut songs from their reality show. A song that most people know is God's Menu which Back Door is a sort of continuation MV wise. If you don't know which songs to start with or to react to, you could always do it chronologically until people start to recommend more. Also, their dance practices and relay videos are also a fun thing to watch

The guides that say Chan was born in Australia are wrong. Chan was born in South Korea and they later moved to Australia where he lived until he came to SK to be a JYP trainee.

Day6 is a kpop band, they're under the same label as Stray Kids. They're amazing. Recommend checking them out. Seungmin is known to be a fanboy. He's also a big Baekhyun fanboy. Baekhyun is a member of the kpop group EXO. Whereas, Bangchan, Felix and Changbin are big D.O. fanboys. D.O. is also a member of EXO. And Hyunjin and Lee know are big Kai fanboys, Kai is also a member of EXO 😂 Really recommend checking EXO out as well. They're known as the nations kpop group. They even performed during the Olympics in 2018 to represent South Korea.

Lee Know or Lee Minho was a Back Dancer of Bts, and when he debut in the stage of a program the members of Bts recognized him

- I know multiple people have expressed shock at you not being aware of Hyunjin, and I do understand why -- he's the most searched JYP idol and very well known even outside kpop fans. But honestly, I like it. I adore Hyunjin as much as I do all the members, but it's actually refreshing to see a new person coming and starting from a relatively blank slate rather than with the automatic Hyunjin bias the majority of new folks seem to have because they've seen him on tiktok or wherever. A LOT of STAYs don't have a bias; it's impossible for many of us to choose between them, so we're ot8 stans. But if you do end up with a bias or biases, it'll be because it came from you getting to know them as a group, which is cool. - Others already let you know Woojin is gone and there are eight members. Videos up through Double Knot on October 9, 2019, will include him; videos after that date will not. The first one after is Astronaut (if you look hard enough, you _can_ catch glimpses of him that they weren't able to fully cut out), and the first title track release after is Levanter. Between the albums SKZ2020 and SKZ 2021, they have released ot8 update versions of all the songs that were originally nine members (again, which was up through October 2019), excepting Glow, School Life, 4419, Hero's Soup, and the intros. They have also released a few videos of ot8-update songs (some of which had nine-member videos; some of which did not), including the English version of Double Knot, the Boxer special video, the Voices special video, and the Placebo special video (which is the ot8 remake of Mixtape 1). - As someone else noted, Chan's comments for people on their period were all specifically non-gendered. A few of us are pointing this out not to be pedantic but because SKZ makes a very deliberate point of being inclusive, including making their lyrics and even most of their overall comments gender-neutral, and that deliberate inclusiveness is one of the primary reasons some of us are here and why such a large portion of their fanbase is in the rainbow. They acknowledge and accept that a lot of us aren't het or aren't cis or aren't binary or (and this bar is low, but a miserable number of groups and fans still miss it) aren't girls/women. So yeah, the way they say things is actually a really big part of why they're beloved by and/or a safe space for so many of us, and we want to make sure new people recognize this aspect of them, since it tends to be (nonmaliciously) missed by people who aren't in any of the groups affected by lack of inclusivity. - 1) You definitely need to see some of their live stages, as SKZ are specifically known for the power and energy of their live performances. 2) Chan spent most of 2021 half-clothed, so brace yourself when you watch the live stages from 2021. All of them started getting brazen about flashing some skin, but Chan forgot what shirts are. - I have a whole separate comment to post about the topic of official set positions in the group. But for here, I'll just make this clear: there _is_ no official visual. That's not a thing in SKZ. This is one of the flaws in this guide that makes so many of us really not fond of it overall, especially because it's rather dismissive of or perpetuating of issues Hyunjin has had regarding his value being based on his looks and which he's specifically spoken about.

I don’t like this guide very much for little things like calling Han by his first name instead of his stage name because that’s confusing to new Stays. I didn’t love the Minsung thing either tbh. I love their friendship too but it shouldn’t be a focal point when learning about them. It reduced LK to the sassy member who likes cats and Han. He’s much more than that.

Hello, another aussie here - like you said it's really different and cool to hear kpop idols with our accent! It's just homey to hear them talk. I was also into BTS first and checked out Stray Kids and some other groups a bit later. Yes Chris's last name is Bang. So his korean name is Bang Chan and english name is Chris Bang. Stage name is Bang Chan I assume because there's already idols called Chan in the industry. You can call him Chan or Chris or Bang Chan, whatever works for you!

Btw, practice video for Back Door is one of my favorites (I love watching practice videos, full view choreo is awesome).

From what I've read, the whole "shrimp on the barbie" thing was part of a 1984 commercial aimed at American tourists coming to Australia...because in the U.S. we call them shrimp when the rest of the world calls them prawns, because we're silly like that. ^_^

Oh, hello. Just randomly this popped up as my next video and I decided to watch it and I'm only happy. Seeing people discovering SKZ always makes me so haoppy. Me personally have been with the kids since their pre-debut days and looking at your reaction just made me a bit emo. Ngl, can't deny the fact you surprised me with not knowing Hyunjin, but that's ok, it can be like that. Knowledge bout the members, their names and everything else will come with time, no worries. Just be aware there's 3 main sub-units you gotta remember: 3RACHA aka CB97 (Bangchan) SpearB (Changbi) & J. One (Han), DANCERACHA (Lee Know, Hyunjin & Felix) and VOCALRACHA (Seungmin & I.N aka Jeongin aka the maknae of SKZ). Of course they're all multitalented and every single one of the members can do it all, but those are the official positions for them. Also, if you're becoming a STAY there's a lot you're diving into and the most important thing you should know is that Woojin is an ex-member of SKZ. He's now a soloist, but if you'll go back to older skz content you'll deffo see him in the videos, mv's, older stages etc. Guides are good, but some may just confuse you, cuz there's few that aim for more entertaining content or confusing new stays with inside jokes or stuff older stays know and newer ones might find for ture when it's the exact opposite. Just wanna warn you to be careful and try to keep up with everything keeping your sanity. Also, pls don't feel too bad for not remembering all the members names perfectly, that comes with time. Mark my words that with time there's gonna be a point where you'll laugh at the thought of when you were learning their names, positions and all the details and how it seemed hard, but now when they breathe on the track you know instantly who it is exactly. This almost came out as an essay, but at the end I'm wishing you all the best and have fun exploring this universe and these wonderful human beings. I'll follow your path of becoming a stay as well.

And if you see how alot of us put alot of stuff on our bread (not all of us but alot of us) we spread nutella on pretty thick, as well as jam and peanut butter. In advance: please forgive me. There are SO many words I'm going to dump on you in the next few comments. I'm excited you're getting into them and want to learn, and I somewhat lack the ability to significantly limit my explanatory output. - Chan usually pronounces his name in the western style (Bang just like the English _bang_ and Chan rhyming with _man_ ), which you can hear him say once or twice himself in these clips, and they all are aware that people have different accents. Plus, half the time they themselves mispronounce their names -- Hyunjin calls Seungmin every possible mispronunciation (most frequently "Sungmin"), Changbin gets an anglicized "Bin," and so forth. Basically, they don't care, and any self-proclaimed expert fans who give you sh1t should be ignored for the pretentious a$$es they are. (Also, we call Chan "Chris" or "Christopher" or "Channie" or whatever all the time, and the rest of the members also have numerous nicknames. You'll learn them eventually if you stick around, and they're useful because we use them a lot.) - Chris and Felix are obviously both native English speakers. - The next most fluent member is Seungmin, period. Even they say so. - Then it's Hyunjin and Han. Hyunjin is studying English and has improved greatly recently, while Han learned/spoke English while growing up and attending international school in Malaysia (which is why his accent often includes a British influence). At this stage, I'd rank them both at about the same level of fluency (I know people have given you differing rankings between these two), with the key point being their areas/forms of fluency. Hyunjin is learning more academically, so his has more focus on the "correct" grammar patterns and whatnot; whereas Han learned his more organically and through exposure/acquisition, so his is more about casual usage and natural slang inclusion and whatnot. At different times, one or the other will come across as more fluent, generally because they both lack confidence and sometimes get self-conscious or uncomfortable and hold back. But overall, they're really about equal. - Then it's Changbin. He's not fluent, but he can get through a basic conversation and (as is common with second languages) understands more than he speaks. Despite not being fluent, he has enough grasp that he can make plays on words between the two languages. (SKZ's lyrics are, like, half wordplay and puns and double entendre, and Binnie is one of the three people who writes most of those lyrics.) - Then it's I.N and Lee Know. I.N might know a tiny bit more than Lee Know, but it's so close that it really doesn't matter. They understand more than they speak, and they can get through basic exchanges and fan calls. Beyond that, they really don't appear to be that interested in learning more or bothered by their lack of fluency. I.N knows enough to insult and threaten his hyungs, and Lee Know knows enough to make truly awful puns during award-show interviews and embarrass us all, and that's enough for them both. - As others mentioned, they occasionally do mimic the Aussie accent, but mostly they've all picked up some influence from it, to varying degrees. There's a hilarious clip out there of Changbin explaining to Chan that Chan says "no" and "home" like an Aussie, and Chan having a mild existential crisis. There's also more than one clip of Chan being on his own and going through an entire mental breakdown about his accent and trying to sound Australian...despite literally talking like an Australian the entire time. He gets a bit deep in his own head sometimes. Boy's kind of A Mess. - If you want a short, sweet example of them all speaking English with no attempts at mimicry or anything silly, they did The Night Before Christmas for a podcast in December: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bceIYMiI3tTKYnU.html . You can notice that Felix and Chan (as the native speakers) and Seungmin (as the most fluent non-native speaker) have the longest parts. You can also hear Han sounding like he's straight out of a Dickens novel for half of his words because of that British-flavored Malaysian English influence. well, welcome to the chaos that's SKZ... I didn't scroll too much so if anyone answered this, soz :) I've heard one member mimicking the aussie accent, and that's the maknae 아이엔 (I.N) or 정인 :) he sometimes pronounces a couple of words (not many but basic ones) as he hears from Chan or Lix... they even made a comment on it during an interview. 아이엔 does not really speak much english tbh, I suspect he can understand it better, and as long as the speaker doesn't speak too fast, but when he reads it, he does understand it on an okay level. his pronunciation did improve a bit recently (he read out a complete sentence in an award thing, and it did sound pretty smooth - compared to older stuff I've heard from him). 승민 does speak a very decent english, but I don't think he is mimicking the aussie accent, to me it sounds a bit like he's trying the american english? maybe he is learning from tv shows etc, not sure. 현진 - his english is one of the cutest things... he is trying, big kudos for that, and I think he mentioned that he's learning english? not sure when was that though. I tbh cannot recall him mimicking the aussie accent, but my aussie "hearing" is far from absolute. 리노 - he speaks almost no english, but when he does use the few words he knows, it's a full on korean/asian accent, and it's pretty cute :) 한 - he speaks very good english, he went to school in Malaysia 창빈 does speak some english as well, to me his accent sounds the usual but not too heavy asian/korean accent. he probably can understand more than what he speaks, my guess would be the usual shyness So to answer your questions, when they do try to mimic the aussie accent, mostly it's for joking around. the members who do speak english don'T need it and I think your question was more about those, who don't really speak english, as they'd be the ones to "pick it up" from the aussies in their accent :) uhhh I hope this answers your question at least partially :) and I used the names in hangul, because I thought it might be helpful for you :)

Stray Kids only has eight members now, Woojin left in 2019. There were allegations against him for a bit but I think they were proven to be false. Welcome to the fandom! But yeah, this isn't the best guide to start with, especially with Minho's introduction, they barely said anything about him and the majority of what they said was unimportant when needing to get to know him. Rather than focusing on his skills, or his beautiful voice, or creativity, they just gave him cats and Han. Not that there's anything wrong with Han, he's my bias so I don't mind seeing him in videos lol, but that minsung stuff wasn't something that was necessary.
