I've recently seen "Boy in Luv" and "Just One Day" go viral, in addition to Black Swan's timeless instrumental. I think one of the things that prevent tiktok armys from achieving results is a somewhat emotional factor, we are very attached to the philosophy of appreciating BTS's music as a work of art (which is true) so I get upset when I see people listening to the songs without knowing the meaning, I saw a video of a non-army with outro:tear as if it were a baddass song when in fact the lyrics are sad and have a heavy meaning. I think that at least during the hiatus, we have to leave sentimentality aside and think about the numbers, because that's what we have now. Also, the video mentions the edits, I saw a lot of non-BTS related edits with Namjoon's verse on "All Night", and when people asked what was song because they found Namjoon's voice attractive, armys responded rudely or spam the comments and guys... this only harms the boys instead of helping them

ARMY is a fandom filled with superfans to the brim. The past traumas of both ARMY and BTS being cyberbullied by other fandoms and mocked by the general public have created a tendency of gatekeeping BTS from them all. I have recently read a post that said that it's unfair that general public is allowed to attend BTS concerts, and I was like, wait... BTS is literally the biggest band in the world, why do you think it's strange for general public to want to go to their concerts? I also think it might be because BTS never mention general public and instead address everyone who goes to their concerts as "ARMY". They also genuinely view ARMY as their friends and share their sincere feelings with us, so of course superfans feel like locals in the audience don't deserve to be included in that. That kind of mentality spreads to all platforms, including TikTok. This is both our strength and our weakness, because the music industry ends up viewing us more as a kind of a cult than music listeners. So, thank you for this video! I have learned something new from it! I'll make sure to share it on all platforms.

Sometime ago a lot of Armys were pushing for virality on Tiktok. We contacted so called Army accounts n asked if they could use BTS songs in BTS edits. U know what they replied "BTS songs don't fit with my accounts aesthetic" or "I don't like this song so I won't use it". So what exactly do u like about BTS to proudly call urself Armys. Their faces?? How do u call urself a fan with 0 attchment to their music that they live n breathe for. Even if there r songs that i may not vibe with I always respect n admire their work bcoz I know what has went into it. Like how do u become a fan of musicians when u don't like their music.

I don't really use Tiktok or make edits, but I can think of a few things for non-BTS edits that could work quite well, like Namjoon's "Today we fight" intro from Not Today could quite easily work for TV Show edits, especially with the incoming influx of fantasy fighting shows coming now like PJO and ATLA, Airplane Part 2's instrumental could easily work for runway moments (think of Jungkook at MAMA 2018), we could even get Mic Drop in for "did you see my bag" for shopping hauls. We can get creative with it, and as long as we don't gatekeep things and don't make it weird, we can really use the general public to our advantage

The problem is that TikTok armys don't like you to tell them anything like this. And they especially don't like when you ask why they don't use BTS songs for their videos (99% of the time it's music from another artist). They kinda remind me of Instagram armys in that regard.

BTS got so so so many great songs that are suitable to a lot of situations and vibes. It is such a wasteful opportunity to promote more of their songs. Thank you Boracity for talking about this. This whole message is so true because despite being global artist BTS still feels very underground compared to other big artist like Justin Bieber Rihanna or Beyonce. As soon as you get out of the kpop sphere, when it comes to the general public nodody can even name one of their songs appart from Dynamite or Butter, wich is bad cause those song dont even represent their discography well. In my country, tiktok is banned but from what can i see is, tikok armys are needed the amount of good editors they are plus i dont think it will be fun without those funny/hot edits they make. Some of creators are very important like jiminspogostick which also shows voting and hilarious stuff. That specific part is surey needed. Whats not needed are those spammers. I feel the need to say something, based on all the comments about not being able to do edits or thinking that tik tok is a dance type app or only for teens. Army, tik tok is for everyone. ANY topic, anything you can think of, you’ll find on there. If you have any hobby at all, I encourage you to post it, and choose a BTS song to play during your video. It can literally be a vid about your cat, or you gardening, showing proper ways to fold laundry, organizing your book shelf, washing your car, baking a cake, painting your house, crocheting, sewing, bathing your pet, cleaning your makeup brushes……literally ANYTHING, no special edits necessary. I’ll regularly be scrolling on my fyp and some random song will be playing and I click the song or Shazam it and it ends up on my apple music. If you choose a BTS songs, others will hear it on your vid, they like it and choose to reuse on their future vid. So, making a “dance” viral to go along with the song is not the only way to spread the music, just simply attaching it to random vids does the trick too.

As influential as your channel is, we're not going to have enough of an effect unless we organize and collaborate. I've said this about the socio-political activism that BTS has encouraged, too. A coalition of your subscribers needs a Discord, or maybe a subreddit, to gather and talk about these things and cover all the bases.

Bless you boracity mag for saying all of this, the gatekeeping of BTS on tiktok is so dumb and counterproductive, and not at all how ARMY has been doing things for years. BTS didn't become as big as they are, didn't reach as many people as they have, who went on to become ARMY or casual listeners, from older ARMY gatekeeping them, quite the opposite. In order for Bangtan to soar to new heights, break new records, and become the biggest mainstream artist in the world, they, and especially their music, need to be known, and liked (or at the very least, acknowledged and respected), by the general public too, even if they only like/listen to one of their songs that they heard by chance one time. Can you imagine if earlier ARMYs had gatekept BTS like they were their little secret artist, only for them to know and enjoy? How would so many ARMYs that never cared for kpop before BTS (or who still don't really listen to kpop and the only Korean artist they enjoy is BTS), find their way to Bangtan, do you think your music taste is so *exquisite* and *unique* that you would've organically stumbled across an unknown, unpromoted BTS, Micarah from Arizona? No, the fact that so many of us were able to find them is to an extent due to the ceaseless promotion ARMY did for them , that caused them to blow up in the East and then the West. So, for the love of everything, let BTS reach more people (like they want to). A fanbase is a living, breathing organism, and there's people coming and going all the time. We shouldn't hinder either. Not to mention, BTS's music is amazing and healing and thought-proviking and more people should know what amazing artists they are. Oftentimes, tiktokmys only promote BTS there for their visuals, but locals thirsting over BTS's looks won't bring in streams, their music will.

It's about high time the fandom matures like the boys did. It's so admirable to see the 7 doing all they want without caring what people might think and in a way that destigmatizes a lot of things that k-pop fans would make a fuss about in the past.I feel like we need to let go of this gatekeeping thing because those are 7 mature adults well capable of replying back the haters with army's support rather than us always being on guard and getting defensive about the littlest of criticisms that is at least not hateful. I feel like the tiktok side of fandom(hell maybe some other parts too) has a lot of that gatekeeping attitude and you know getting overpossessive about their fav artist as if BTS should be just their secret like they aren't global stars already. Yes we got a lot of hate and roast for being a toxic 'fandom' but I feel like now we should become a little more laid back and realize our power so as to not engage in meaningless fights with nameless people or say getting toxic over a random person on tiktok using some BTS sound.

You might want to add that some general public fans wont even say they are ARMY because they are embarrassed about how the hardcore fans behave. And that general public fans could even be harassed for being a hater for telling the hardcore ones to stop spamming BTS in the comments.

I'm a big sports fan and I often visualize sports highlights in my brain and what BTS song I'd use over it. The problem is that I don't know how to edit and I don't have a TT account. But one of my goals for 2024 is to change both those things. I mean MIC Drop, More, Daechwita etc etc are all just BEGGING to be used in sports highlights. I can do it!

Sometimes I'll randomly decide to check an account that has this type of vid pop-up on my FYP and 9 times out of 10 they're a multi (or at lest appear to be) that just does a copy and paste method a bunch of times and just comes off as "messy or trying too hard". i'd argue that editors should use both bts songs and popular edit audios when making bts edits. because if they're editing bts but following an audio trend the general public could be more likely to get one of those edits on their fyp. and most of the time the edits are FIRE and the guys look great ofc, so naturally people would be more inclined to check them out anyway, especially if someone finds bts through a good edit to a song they already like. editors should be mixing the two though, as i said. editing bts to their own music is obivously needed lol

I've seen that with so many big TikTokers, there are a few big german TikTokers (all over 1M followers) who also liked BTS but I also feel like they stopped posting videos about it bc the comments are either "omg, you are army???" or "wow, nowadays everyone acts as if they were fans only for the fame", even though they have followed the group for yeaaars. As usual, great job on the details and the specifics. Its great to point out that there with tik tok creators and users, the main focus with them is the use of BTS media. Its great that they are using BTS music and sounds to create their own footage, in order to generate that "trend", that allows their music to be loved and possibly listened to by everyone, which includes the new listeners and the non-kpop listeners. Its media that can can become new again, or recycled, depending upon what they are using the media for. You even pointed out that BTS genereated different sounds, music, and media, for anyone, or everyone to use or utilize, in order to entertain, or even expand their name sake recognition or reputation. in dyna ear we had sick ass army promo videos dropping left and right by amazing army editors and we all collectively spammed them everywhere. and it worked! those promo videos were seen by none armys and made the comeback more aware. what we need rn is gather those editors and big accounts together to focus on tiktok and make a FB of some sort, that way we can be more organized. of course we individually all have to do our part still and not depend on them but if we have a huge FB focusing on this it will be much easier to get the word around just like how our voting FBs are promoting the votings going on etc. we need to gather and make sick as edits using BTS songs, instrumentals, etc. and in different topics too. be them about BTS, music, food, pets, nature and everything in between if we can set an example for other armys through this, i think we can do something big. and yeah we really need to figure out tiktok before BTS comeback in 2025.

I'm always on tiktok, but I don't post anything. I wish I could post some interesting stuff using BTS' music, but I am not creative. They have so much amazing music! I will definitely start reposting now that you've explained how that would help.
