I first heard this composition fifty years ago, when a was a young 17 year young man in my native Italy. It was made available by the Soviet disc label "Melodia", in an LP that I still own. Since then this melody has accompanied me in many trips across many nations. For some reason these epic notes of unmistakable Armenian roots tell us a lot about the history of the twentieth century. With his Heroic ballad Maestro Babajanian is able to speak to the heart of million of people across the globe.

I feel ashamed of never having heard of this great Armenian talent (if you will pardon the redundancy --Armenians are natural musicians). Better late than never. I am discovering where many Westerns songs found their origin. One might as well call this great melodic piece the YEREVAN / EREVAN CONCERTO, for it has the same power but greater depth as compared to its ADDINSELL counterpart (WARSAW CONCERTO)...
