This segment reminds me of the story about Arnold meeting Mark Hamill in the 70's and asking for advice. Mark's response was "Change your name and lose the accent." it's why Mark says he never gives career advice anymore.

I feel like Arnold has made some dietary/exercise changes in recent years. He looked a lot more rugged and weathered a couple of years ago. Now, he looks really good and has a healthy glow to him. He also seems just as lucid as he always has, which is always nice to see when they're getting up there in age. As for Rob, I'm pretty sure he's just a vampire at this point, just like Jared Leto and Paul Rudd. I'd wager their father is William Shatner.

@garvintimmann
@garvintimmann 7 ай бұрын
@@DirtMaguirk Ralph Macchio and Rob Lowe had unusually young looks with complexion, Paul Rudd is not in the same boat. My intuition is that this youthfulness of looking 25 years old when in the 40's, can be maintained looking 40 when 60 years old. The nature of the diseases of ageing, affect different people at different ages. My mother even at 70 years old looked nearly 50, but at 80 it all goes straight down. Look up Aubrey de Grey, prevention is better than cure.

@westmcgee9320
@westmcgee9320 7 ай бұрын
I paused it but you make me want to continue the video since it’s so rare that an interviewer isn’t so starved for attention, truly uninterested in the guest, or short on time that they allow the conversation to truly breathe. I hate interruptions but a close, close second is when the guest says something profound and of-depth…and the interviewer simply moves on to the best question on his/her list. This may not be 100% fair due to editing but the outcome is what it is - and sometimes, it’s gd cringeworthy.

Professional and amatuer athletes across the world in so many sports ultimately owe their muscle building acceptance and strength training discipline to the documentary, "Pumping Iron". The charismatic Arnold Schwarzeneger wins Mr. Olympia against a larger and more jacked Lou Ferragno but getting Lou to focus on getting even larger instead of "more defined". Arnold transforms the mid-'70s "muscle bound" freak bulky stereotypes "lifter loners" into engaging body sculpting performance artists. Throughout the movie, the sex appeal Arnold exudes in shifts the long-standing negative image of bodybuilding forever. Quickly athletes who would not consider getting "muscle bound" learned to properly lift for power and agility and used that knowledge and hard work as an advantage over their competition. It really elevated the performance of athletes and this paradigm shift can be traced back to Arnold, the body builders at Venice Beach and Gold's Gym.

why would anyone not want people to know of how much effort they put into making themselves look fit? isn't it more impressive to know the willpower and effort and dedication one has to _earn_ their appearance versus not having to work at all?

@@NZWarriors1995 It wasnt about being mysterious. I tas about being larger thatn life, coming across as better than the average folk, making it seem like they had those body naturally, by virtue of just existing and that they didn't need to train to look like that, while the common man, the average guy would need to.

Having grown up hearing it my whole life, the idea of movie producers going “ya gotta lose the accent, Arnold,” comes off like such a big ooff in hindsight, couldn’t imagine not being able to go “UgHaHHAghaHA” and feel comfortable people know the impression, lol

Here's a reminder people that Arnold Schwarzenegger was already a multi-millionaire before he started acting. His body building afforded him an entrance into the real estate market where he flourished
