Thanks for sharing your thoughts. This system has existed for 50 years and is very very popular in Italy. Cleaning is done in a minute. This is not for coffee nerds. This is for people who want great tasting coffee made in no time without having to learn all there is when you have a setup with machine, grinder, coffee scale etc. I only see it as an advantage that you can use different coffee types without dialing in the grinder and making new recipes etc. even though I personally enjoy that part. It also great because the bags are filled witj nitrogen and the coffee is always fresh and taste the same after weeks and months. At last the pods are compostable which is a huge plus. Coffee in the pods in my case is also a very high quality. I sell the same coffee in whole beans and have been doing that for 7 years. And my customers love it.

@@cityroastkbenhavn Very popular in Italy? I'm Italian and I never saw this, or anything similar anywhere. Unless you're talking about Nespresso machines, or about the pods that are used to make decaf espressos with proper espresso machines in bars. Also, the pods may be compostable, but the pod-wrap isn't, it's plastic.

@@fedme_ true it is plastic but 100% alu free and recyclable. And no I am not talking about nespresso. Nespresso is popular worldwide. Try to google ese pod.

I get your point with grinding the coffee. I try to give you another perspective. First get the facts straight. ESE Pads are an open standard so you can buy so many different types from different brands. Of course that is a fraction of the variety of beans. The pads cost between 20-40ct. It is easy to clean because you dont have a grinder and tamper integrated if you compare it to a fully automatic machine. The comparison to juicero is wild. Nespresso is the juicero of coffee. And they put everything in marketing instead of delivering a good product. I bought a machine made in italy which is easy to clean and also repairable. I dont got the hassle with grinding and the needed expertise. I can enjoy one or two good coffees a day for 300€ and 20ct per pad. I only buy them in a whole bag and not packed individually. For me it is the best compromise between a traditional espresso machine and the bullshit which is Nespresso and also automatic machines. Cheers.
