The Silver Cloud 1 was the last six cylinder engined Rolls before the American V8 was installed in the Silver Cloud 11. The RR 6 cylinder engine lasts for ever if looked after and used as it has been here. Wonderful.

Not an American V8. Rolls own design.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it. The moment Dan started telling his stories I knew we had to do a video at the very least. A book is a great idea..

Just an FYI to the poster of this video. Rolls-Royce ALWAYS has a hyphen between the two men’s names!! In fact, it is so important that a book was published with the title of “THE HYPHEN”, to explain to the layman it’s importance! I am a long time member of the National R.R.O.C. As well as a member of the Northern California Region, both In good standing since the centenary year of Rolls-Royce in 2004! I own a similar Cloud as shown here but mine is a LHD import, 1959 Silver Cloud II which has a V-8 engine instead of the six cylinder which was used until 1959. Very informative video of an amazing man and his even more amazing PMC!!! Cheers!!!

Also the hyphen stood for Claude Johnson, who was in integral part of the cars success.

what a wonderful video (some odd colour issues near the start, but it soon settles down) about a very intrepid couple (Dan and his wife are real globetrotters, the genuine article) and their iconic car. all the places this beautiful, authentic old silver cloud has been to, all the adventures, all the friends it's made ... wow! it's inspiring me to do something similar with my 1986 Bentley. the fundamental solidity of these cars is extraordinary and mine is three decades younger. basically, they just love to be driven and the more you drive them, the more reliable they become. i can hear eastern europe and scandinavia calling me. your patient little passenger also seemed to be quietly enjoying the seasoned opulence of this beautiful vehicle.

Oh, haha, I played around with some filters for fun near the start... it was supposed to be a 'creative effect'.... thanks for watching!!

Amazing travels, inspirational, and amazing couple. Just the car for them, understated and elegant. The speed bump story is just bonkers and any car surviving that is beyond tough ! I have the model before this and I will look at our awful potholed roads now in a different way...but I'm not driving to Siberia in a hurry !!

Very enjoyable tour. I am rather amazed at the durability of the car. Thumbs up for this couples willingness to press on through remote areas in so many countries. Rather liked the leg room as well.

Hello, I have just watched this video and I am thrilled as this man has done exactly what I want to do. I’m 36 and live in Brisbane Australian. I would be very interested in buying this exact car to do a travel around Australia and eventually do a world trip as this car has already done. I would be very interested and serious about purchasing this car and loving it as it’s current owner has done for 30 years. Please contact me if you’d be seriously interested in selling. Thank you.

Now here’s a chap who could no doubt buy a brand-new Rolls-Royce but that’s not for him. An appreciation of both the ownership and the use of that earlier generation of Roll-Royce energizes him.
