We've got a few ideas for more publishing-related discussions like this, but they take a little bit longer to put together, so we probably won't see any more right away. Let us know if this is the kind of thing you'd like to see more of, and what other questions you'd like answered! And, of course, thanks to Ann for joining us! We've been thinking about bringing some discussions like this to the channel for a *long* time and this seemed like a great opportunity to get some publishing tips from somebody who has been in the industry for a while.

Thank you Ann and Adam for this spectacular video, and all of your spectacular videos. For thirteen years, I have been struggling with getting ideas onto paper or screen and for those thirteen years, I have the most trouble kicking myself into gear and actually getting something done. At first, I thought I would write a novel. I started, stopped, started, stopped, started, stopped... I just never had anything of substance. Then, I wanted to create a game. I started, stopped, started stopped... ... I... have all of these ideas in my head, but a means of getting them out just hasn't given me any respite. In other words, I would like to publish a novel some day, but I fear it may take me twenty years before that point, if ever.

It can be really hard to stay motivated with a story, I get it. That's been a challenge for me most of my life, haha. I think getting more into short stories as of late has helped me somewhat. When I get the itch to do something new I write a short about it, then go back to the big project after. Idk if that would help you, but that's my experience. As for publishing, similar story! It's difficult--that's part of why I wanted to chat with Ann for this video--but it's also doable. Even if it takes some of us 20 years. It's not a race, it's a marathon. :)

@@AroundTheCampfire Short stories, huh? I should certainly try this. I have so many ideas... so, so many ideas. I've yet to actually do something about it. It is frustrating. I hope it isn't as frustrating for you. Keep on keepin' on.

What are some traditional companies? As a Brazillian, would I have any struggles with that? I do love my portuguese mother language, but unfortunately no market here. Yep, sad indeed. I tried KDP and such but no results (just personal satisfaction). Im more focused on psychoanalysis now, busy schedule.

I can't say too much regarding writing in Portuguese or the market in Brazil, unfortunately. However, if you're looking for traditional publishers, most are owned by the big five: Penguin, Hachette, HarperCollins, Macmillan, and Simon & Schuster. However there are a ton of small and independent presses out there too. I'd say just write what makes you happy, and do a little research to see what comes up when you're ready to share it.

It's probably just me, but I am distracted by the comical characters, feel totally disconnected to what you're talking about. Sorry, but I prefer seeing real people to keep my attention, not these comics. Feel like I'm watching a kiddies video. I really can't connect. 😢
