WATCH AND SHARE this fascinating video. Breeding Arowana is almost like a courtship ritual. Arowanas must "get along" like humans in some senses. Males and females will pair off and being with the male circling around a female, and the female will circle back at him. This could go on for some hours, sometimes for days. If they get along, the female will allow the male to swim side by side with her, and they will come close in proximity. They will seem to be mirroring each other when swimming and looking like they are moving in circles. At some point in the courtship, the female will release the eggs, and the male will fertilize them, scoop them up and carry them in his mouth till birth.

Much like the Tilapia or other mouth brooder does but what I found impressive was the fact the breeding occurred in a tank. I wasn't aware that happened and thought there was always massive jumpings out of the water when breeding. I wonder how often any non-commercial hobbyist has been able to successfully do this on their own?

This is an asian golden crossback arowana..you can't compare it to tilapia(inferior fish)

@@battleroyale1576 It's not a reference between the value of the two as it was stating the fact that both are mouth brooders and "typically" an arowana while breeding is a heavy jumper typically needing a pond to first initiate a spawn then prior to a natural mouthbrooder release the harvest by hand in comparison to the Tilapia which is very easy to breed in a tank. We are talking again about the nature and size of the fish, not the value we set on it as humans for rarity or other.

Cheers for this, I been tryin to find out about "green arowana fish price" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Leahzan Arowana Astonishing - (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my cousin got amazing success with it.

*I wish Asian arrowana breeders would ban together and help quickly increase stocks of wild native arrowanas. Many Americans would love to own these beautiful fish, but they have been redlisted & are illegal in the USA because wild native stocks of arrowanas are extremely low and endangered in Asia. Lifting the ban would create a big legal market for them here in the USA, which in turn would be very profitable for Asian fish breeders.*

No. They would take over everything like carp. Absolutely not. People are stupid and horrible and release new invasive species and the infested Midwest lake systems and Florida everglades with Lionfish and Oscars are bad enough of an example.

@@sarahthompson5082 You don't know that. Most of the invasives in Florida are Central & South American Cichlids & Tilapia. Peacock Bass another invasive were released by the FWC to eat the Cichlids & legal African Tilapia which doesn't make any sense because the native Florida Largemouth Bass is just as effective a predator on them. Non-native peacock Bass is now considered a game fish in Florida because of their sporting qualities. *A quote from SCOTT HARDIN, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Tallahassee, Florida, USA."Most introduced species have negligible environmental impacts. Investigation of introduced fishes in southeast Florida canals has indicated no reductions in absolute abundance or biomass of native species, while the standing crop of all fishes.*

+Mahnal Lay but each one must be 12'inch minimum size and can see both together alive at the same time. males only grunt which can hear them only in pitch black darkness if scared or threatened
