cracking the coding interview is a very good book to prepare for companies like fb, google. But i am not sure if a simpler book is available. U can probably solve easy questions in leetcode or someother competitive programming platform.

in arrays u can only store similar datatypes. u need structures to mix up types

Thats not something a programmer can control. Its how system is designed. You can use short datatype if you want to use just 2 bytes

maybe other compilers are allowing that and not turboc. as per standards its not allowed but some compilers will add additional features.

Dont trust books blindly. It is 4 bytes in new systems with 64 bit processors.
