I took the Arrma Vorteks to the local BMX park to get in some runs on 3S. Let's see how it ran!

A jumper it ain't but hard to jump when you can't get traction to accelerate! I think a tire swap and slipper adjustment will really make a difference and transform this truck. Still, not a hardcore basher, more for the person looking for speed and handling! Another excellent review!

Good for casual play which is what I do. I find it very fun being able to go quick in all terrain with minimal flipping. I think of it as a powerful stadium truck.

Nice honest video. First video I see criticizing this Vorteks. It's nice to have another point of view than "best 3S ARRMA ever". I'm disappointed that they did not solve the "issue" of the rear shock tower hitting the body. Adding some foam seems the way to go.

i didn't even run it before pulling the plastic guards and wing off and shoegoo/drywall meshed the body shell. it's good to see the weakpoints. no body damage whatsoever. going to go back over that rear area with another layer anyway.

I know Arrma didn't market it this way but I've looked as this as a short wheelbase/stadium truck version of the Talion. Your first assessment sounds about the same. Great video as always👍👍

I saw someone in another video bashing the vorteks very well double backflips and all I think if you get the shock setup figured out and try a different spot you may be surprised of what it can do. Not really fair to say its not capable of something when its not even being ran right. I have heard that arrma are notorious for coming out of the box new sometimes missing shock oil( which is no excuse but still it happens)

Good video and review! Not sure it is worth to pay the extra 60-70 EUR compared to the Big Rock or Granite.

Seems like it not good off-road 🤔 compared to the Granite!!! For the price i gotta go with the big rock for sure to add to the collection this video very helpful thanks 🙏

Nice quick review, thanks for the honesty. Have you considered bashing on other types of terrain or doing speed runs? 1/10th stadium trucks are better on pavement and grass. Also, when are you going to get an X-Maxx? It would be perfect for the BMX track haha.

I got mine yesterday. I had to bind it right out of the box. I think Arrma rushed these out the door. I put foam pads on mine at the rear because of the shock towers.

That sucks people get upset at your for driving a small rc on a big track meant for heavy bikes it's not like your hurting anything. 🙄👍🤙✌️

Actually, the acceleration of an electric vehicle can tear up the park pretty quickly. However, considering this is a public site, not really anything they can do about it!

My front ring gear was making that same noise on my typhon. I sanded the high spots and it went away👍

I agree. I spent an hour taking apart the diffs and the ring gear/input gear mesh is really tight and gritty.

I think the big rock is the best imo..Lwb jump and bash all day but then lower it down on street tires and its a street beast

That sound could also be rock in center shaft..Arrma 3s rigs need a center shaft cover imo

I didn't finish video yet, but it seems all vortex making a clicking noise , I think they over tighten the clutch and it breaks free brass fitted piece thats supposed be stationary

That would drive me crazy , I ordered clutch from jennys and the fixed nut inside clutch hub that you tighten screw through was in different spot from other assembly I had , it caused the spur to not line up properly in the module and rub making this same noise . The newer rc stuff just not being put together like in the past , with something intricate like clutch has be exact and pain on ass with out spare parts going be hard to fix , why I haven't been running my brcc I had to use new parts with old made new assembly and not the same as new . After spending 50 bucks thinking I wouldn't have deal with it for very long time . I thought about getting the vortex and main reason would be to have new clutch mount wheels ect meanwhile its coming out box with headach I can't beat already lol 😂

Maybe not the best conditions for the Vorteks. Super dry, slippery, compounded by steep jumps. The SWB Granite also performs poorly in these conditions. I haven't noticed that forward kick in other Vorteks videos. I think it's that ramp. On one jump it sends the Vorteks into an instant double forward flip, which is highly unusual. The Vorteks is definitely designed to be more of a speed/control on flatter surfaces vehicle. It's not a stunt truck, but in other videos it has very stable, controllable straight flight. So this may not the best environment to show its strengths.

You’re spot on, although the Granite works OK in this dusty dirt because of the knobbier tires.

If the rear ended kicks up when it jumps should you add shock spacers to the front or the rear?

If you added preload to the rear it would kick up worse off of jumps my friend👍

I think it's that ramp, not the Vorteks. None of the other Vorteks videos I've seen present this issue. On one jump, that ramp kicks the Vorteks into an instant double front flip. That's hard to do even if you try.

Depends on what is causing it kickup. In this case, the rear end slaps off the face of the jump and kicks it up, so adding some extra rear ride height/spring tension would help.
