This is one piece of a game. The graphics, the music, the stages, the loyalty to the original cartoons on the TV, everything is brilliantly designed. The gameplay was a bit awkward sometimes, though, but it never was a real problem to me. I'm so glad I still have a functional SNES and this cartridge.

Cool I'm glad you liked it! Some people complained that the jumping was "too floaty." I think it just took some getting used to.

If you liked this, then you'd definitely love Desert Demolition on the Genesis. A lot more loyal to the original cartoons. You get to play the game from the perspective of both characters too.

And the vsing coyote like in those ways - yea the game was genius. Super Luigi bros Wii U kind of out dates it today… but when I ran as road runner I was ecstatic

i remember how my friend played the game and he wouldnt get pass the first boss fight (the catapult) because we could not figure out what to do. His father looked at the plan (that appears before the boss fight) and he saw the arror that shows the weak point and than my friend could progress and finish the game

Thanks for posting this. For years people have said RRDVR was too difficult, even with the 99 life cheat code. I like how you just tanked the damage from the 2nd boss =) (BTW I am the programmer of this game) I'll have to see the other video in the description where all the flags were collected.. some of those flags were deliberately placed in very hard to find locations.
@Riffraffgames10 жыл бұрын
Tetra Digm At the time there were too many "easy" games so this was intentionally made to challenge the player. I'm just glad arronmunroe posted a 0-death run to show that it wasn't impossibly unfair. It does take some practice learning where to go and how to avoid enemies/obstacles.
@arronmunroe10 жыл бұрын
Tetra Digm I agree with you, but only partly. I think the memorization mainly comes from the game having a zoomed in screen. While I do think there is memorization, I don't think there is too much to be unfair and I think the player does still need some skill to beat the game.

Hey, cool to see the programmer of one of these sunsoft looney tunes games. They were some of my favorite license character games in terms of how they controlled, at a time when a lot of license games just felt like "slap a famous character on a generic platformer" cheap cashins
@Riffraffgames9 жыл бұрын
Martin Gray Thanks Martin! I'm glad you liked them. Road Runner was a great cartoon we all grew up with and we wanted to do it justice. Daffy Duck: The Marvin Missions was another game I programmed.
@battybuddy9 жыл бұрын
riffraffgames thats awesome. you know, they have a similar feel to them. I loved the Marvin missions game's whole money system, it was a major selling point when I read how it worked, and the kickback thing with all the guns gave a sense of awkwardness that really set the atmosphere: kind of like you could be a hero, but you had to fight against your own weapons... which matched daffy as a character(like I said, it's one thing to make you feel you are the character, another thing to make a generic platformer and slap them on.). I think the Marvin missions and rabbit rampage were my two favorite of the whole bunch, (the Sylvester and tweety one being a close third, but the items element of that being a little hard to execute on the fly. Still, captured how Sylvester doesn't really seem to notice anything that isn't tweety, and i never liked that little yellow jerk anyway and always WANTED him to get eaten...). On the whole, I kind of thought about doing that whole awkward feeling with a character of my own. I'm an animator, though, not a programmer. :P though some friends of mine are saying my art could be IN games. Sorry about fanboy rambling, just got into a few talks about game difficulty and license games lately.

There is something to it, actually. In the Road Runner cartoon "Gee Whiz-z-z-z-z-z-z", Wile E. holds up a sign asking the cartoon to be ended before he hits the ground. The cartoon ends before he hits, but in the game, that doesn't happen. I pressed every button, including start, and it can't be skipped. I'd say it's just a joke referencing the cartoon, and nothing more.

One of the first games I can remember owning for the SNES. The controls take time to get used to but its pretty easy after that.....its just a matter of exploring. And this came out on SNES only six months after Sonic the Hedgehog came out on Genesis, which is funny, especially considering how many Genesis owners still believe the Genesis could only move a game as fast as Sonic because of its "Blast Processing" and that the SNES simply couldn't achieve such a feat with its terribly slow CPU.

It definitely wouldn't be very easy. If I ever did it, I would have to play and record all the levels individually (although I would combine them into one video), since it would be way too difficult to get all the flags at a reasonable speed all in a single playthrough. Currently, I don't even have a clue where most of them are. Since you asked, I may do it sometime. I'll message you if I ever do get around to it.

How in the hell did they do the bit with Coyote falling to the ground at 7:15? It looks to use the Mode 7 background layer to scale him ever smaller as he falls, but in Mode 7 the SNES is supposed to only be able to show that single background layer and no more, so this boggles my mind. Can anyone explain to me how it's being achieved.
@JeddAhyoung2 жыл бұрын
The "background" in this case is likely on the sprite layer. This is doable partly because the background is completely static. You can see examples of this in other games - the second boss fight in Contra 3 is a great example that comes to mind. The boss is a mode 7 background, while the marking on the street are actually on the sprite layer - so they achieve two rotating backgrounds in Mode 7. It's awesome how creative they got with the tech. Other games do this in the more traditional manner, like MarioKart, F-Zero, and Demon's Crest, but they draw the sprites on top of a large moving Mode 7 layer.
@inceptional2 жыл бұрын

how many tries does it normally take you to beat a game like this with 0 deaths?
@arronmunroe8 жыл бұрын
Usually quite a few depending on the game. For this one, it was a total of 23 times, although for one reason or another, quite a few of those tries didn't even get past the first stage. I did a calculation that it was around 3 hours and 20 minutes total for those 23 tries. That's not counting that I had beaten this game before I had tried to beat it on one life, but I didn't make any replays then.
@Joe5548 жыл бұрын
Cool man. Thanks. Great videos by the way. The spider man x men was crazy
@arronmunroe8 жыл бұрын
That one was actually less trouble for me than this one despite the difficulty. I bought a copy of the game many years ago and had already done it on one life before trying it on an emulator. Also, that game does require you to do long segments of the game without messing up just to beat a single stage, so I don't consider it that much of a stretch from beating the game to doing it on one life. Anyways, thanks for the comments.

(Tune, and many lyrics stolen directly from "Lemmiwinks' Quest"/South Park) A great adventure is waiting for you ahead. Hurry Wile E. Coyote, or you will soon be dead. The journey before you may be long and filled with woe, but you must escape from the fat woman's ass or your tale can't be told. Coyote, Coy-otee, coy-o-tee, coyote. Coyote COYOTE!!!!! Coy-yotee, coyo-tee. Coyote Coyote. Coyote's journey, a distance far and vast. To find his way out of the Fat Woman's ass. The road ahead is filled with danger and fright but push onward Wile E. with all of your might. Catatafish: "Wile. E. You Are coming to the entrance of the small intestine. There you must seek out the Sparrow Prince." The Sparrow Prince lies somewhere wayyy up ahead. Don't look back Coyote or you will soon be dead. Wile E. Coyote the time is growing late. Slow down now- and seal your fate. The Sparrow Prince: "I am the Sparrow Prince. Long has my spirit been trapped within this place. Before you lies the Maze of the Small Intestine. One path leads to the Stomach, the other, to certain doom! Take with you this helmet and torch. Let them be your guide." Take the magic helmet torch to help you light the way, there's still a lot of ground to cross inside the dame so overweight. Ahead of you lies adventure, and your strength still lies within. Freedom from the ass of doom is the treasure you will win. ... ... ... The Coyote has made it through: Catatafish: "Great job Wile E." Sparrow Prince: "Thanks to you, we are all free!" Frog King: But your adventures are just beginning, for you are no ordinary Canine. Wile E., you are Coyote King!" Together: "All hail Coyote King!" Now that you're Coyote King there's more adventures to go on. Run away to far off lands, into the setting sun. There's still so many Roadrunners and battles left to fight, for Wile E. the Coyote King's tale is told throughout the night. Wile E, Wha-While E., Coyote, Wile E, W-while E. wile E, Wil-Eee, Wile E w, wile E.! Wile E., Wile E'Wh wile E, Wile E., Coyote King!
