Brian a time saving tip for you, next time you need to thread leads through a fuselage, use a nut that will fit with a thread tide to it. Make the thread long enough to reach all the way through, tie the other end to your leads, drop the nut through the fuselage, then you can pull your leads through.

I'm glad you finally flew this one. I have a PNP version on pre-order. When I saw the Saylors fly it several months ago I thought it looked like a really fun, super cheap ($129) model that I can just fly for fun. Its super sporty for a pusher. I also wanted a plane I could just let any friend who has never flown before try and not stress over. I like those battery straps, its funny they put the big beefy ones on a tiny 1300 3S plane.

I love this plane and its cool it handles wind well. I live in a very windy city and it’s usually variable directions which makes landing interesting but i love a challenge. It has blown almost steady for 3 weeks up to 60mph. I only fly in less than 20 lol. This will be my 3rd plane. I love “beginner” planes and im probably intermediate now.

WOW - that's very fast wind! You need to get into sail planes, and find a place to SLOP SOAR - if you don't know what it's all about, it's AMAZING!!! You need to look into it. It might seem lame at first, but it's WAY more fun that you can imagine just watching a video. Good luck!

A standard LiPo cell typically operates at 3.7 volts. When it's fully charged, it can reach up to about 4.2 volts, but as soon as you start using it, the voltage drops back down. Now, when you wire up three of these cells in series - that's lining them up so the positive terminal of one battery connects to the negative terminal of the next - you get a combined voltage. For three cells, that's 3.7 volts times 3, giving you a total of 11.1 volts. This series setup is all about boosting the voltage. On the other hand, when you arrange batteries in parallel, you're connecting all the negative terminals together and all the positive terminals together. The batteries are aligned side by side, or parallel to each other. This kind of setup doesn't increase the voltage - it stays the same as a single cell - but it does increase the amp-hour capacity. That means the batteries can deliver the same voltage for a longer period of time, making them last longer before needing a recharge.

This "kid" will be 78 this August. I started flying RC Planes about 2 1/2 years ago. The two biggest helps for me have been the "SAFE" technologies and being able to fly right outside my door - so I get to fly a lot without having to drive to the club field. [I only have 4 acres but have permission to fly over some of my neighbors' lots... so maybe a total of 10 acres or so.]

Glue in the elevator! On my second flight it slipped out a notch and I had to HOLD full UP elavotor to just stay level until I could plop it down going into the wind. I used Qucik Grip from WM at about $4.99. It flies like a stunt/jet fighter. Great Flyer. Its like a fast version of the FMS east trainer. Hi I bought the prodigy as I had the archer 600 that flew so well so I wanted a bigger type !!!! the problem with the wires in the fuselage is to use a small carbon rod tape the plugs to the end of the rod + slide through -another thing I used wire for the s-bus connection + I got a BAD connection "intermittent" which as you know is a complete disaster -so I would stay with the Arrows transmitter .Also with other trannies the servo reverse does not work so well .

Well.....you wont leave the transmitter on and kill the batteries. Maybe that's what they were going for with the beeping? I dont NEED this plane.....but think I will pull the trigger anyway! Binding only has to do with the Transmitter and Receiver. If you have control of the ESC, then you're good to go. I do like your idea of re-calibrating the throttle channel, just to be safe, but you may not even need to do that. When in doubt, either dig deeper and FULLY UNDERSTAND what's going wrong, or replace it. ESC's that fail mid air, cause a pretty dangerous condition. Glad you had the presence of mind to replace this ESC - good call!

I have often wondered the same thing, and for this reason, I've been storing planes in my BASEMENT for years. I can't say, since I'm super lucky to have room in the basement. Please do share when you decide.

Should work. IC3 will stick into an XT60, but you can also get adapters, if you think you need it. The XT60's WON'T stick into the IC3's, so just keep that in mind. I suggest if you're sharing batteries, like most do, start collecting lots of adapters, or making them. This will keep you in the air! I order 10X Packs of M and FM ends of each type I run into and then I can make my own adapters, weather is be parallel adapters, series adapters, or just type to type adapters.

We have lots of footage from the PRE-season, and we'll be sharing it soon. I got my 10th flight and first flight here in Central Iowa, with a friend who has a good site and tons of experience, but I ended up forgetting to get out of the seat, and sprained both ankles on the landing, and face planted. Helmet kept me totally safe (would have probably been fine without, btw) and ZERO damage to anything on the rig, except my right ankle was pretty bad. It's almost better now (1 month on Sunday) but it's been so crazy around here with WIND, and only maybe 3-4 serious opportunities to fly anyway, and I was working at those times ;( sooooo, just in a bit of a holding pattern on the flying, and preparing the flying sight more and more. Noticed the 15 foot wind sock? We have three of them now, and we've been working fences to get then in good condition or considering removing them. Also been working with the electric utility and THOUGHT we had it worked out, but I missed a one line note that meant another $10,000 cost to us, so we're trying to see about getting that part worked out too. Anyway, more footage is coming ;) We didn't fiml flight 10, and probably won't until I have more of the "jitters" out, OR we have expert help HERE for filming...I.E. I can fly and totally concentrate, and Megan can film while I have EXPERT advice piped into my helmet / walkie-talkie. So much is ready, if conditions were good (but they aren't), I could go and be flying in 15 minutes or less.

Ok a question: arrows Trekker, prodigy, or aeroscout. Which is best in wind between aeroscout and trekker
@BrianPhillipsRC
@BrianPhillipsRC 2 жыл бұрын
That's a good question. I would rank the AeroScout 1.1m ( AeroScout bit.ly/30MNn1c ) slightly higher than the Prodigy ( Prodigy RTF bit.ly/37zJxzt | Prodigy PNP bit.ly/3MiMeUB ) / Treker ( Trekker RTF bit.ly/34jhgLZ | PNP bit.ly/35xOPu8 ), but only because of the big wheels. This opens up a different and helpful experience. That being said, I like all three. The Trekker would be MY first pick to fly right now, since it's most REAL looking. I like and appreciate scale looks, but they all have their strengths and weaknesses...and they will all stand up to wind, but any tri cycle with small wheels, like the Trekker, will NEED a runway, and will need to land straight (ish) down the runway, whereas the other two, the AeroScout and Prodogy both can fly in a windy day AND be landed in any direction due to their gear/belly landing style. Good luck with your decision!

The same thing we're doing now. There's already RID modules that are available for $50-100, but that presupposes that the FAA had the time, manpower, and efficacy to do anything about it...keep flying in the most free place on the planet. Also, they've pushed things back in the past, and they will probably do it again, and if not, oh well...not gonna change much of anything here. I agree, it's gonna make things potentially harder, but what are we gonna do - fight a civil war over RID? The more reasonable approach would be using the simple act of civil disobedience by the "Governed" as an assertion of the RIGHT to what we're doing. We need to put these bureaucrats in their place, but to best way to do it is to just fly. The FAA is in the wrong, and any sane minded individual will see that. I just don't want to be the "test case" for the Feds. Anyway, I don't talk about this publicly, since we have so much to lose, and the Feds have unlimited resources, OURS, STOLEN from us, to use against us, so I just keep my nose clean, and FLY.
@banzaiib
@banzaiib Жыл бұрын
@@BrianPhillipsRC that's a very reasonable standpoint, my concern is more for the market, as it will be seriously impacted when their products are made illegal to use for their intended purpose without a 40% cost increase... There are easy star clones with stabilization for $130... a $50 RID on one of them, that weighs less than a goose, is just ridiculous... alas, I am preaching to the choir. This creates a large barrier to entry and ultimately stymies competition and new product development... Time will tell.

I wish I knew better, since we have a good amount of audience that would love to support us and buy from our links, not to mention, we want you folks to have these AMAZING planes!!! If we hear of anything, we will pass it along, and I seriously as you to share too, if you find out how. We would love to help NZ and Australia are both very, VERY hard to ship too. It's basically container, or nothing...so until someone gets REALLY serious about marketing items to NZ / Austrailia, there won't be any choice....and WHY??!?! They're closer to China than the USA mainland! I guess the shipping routes are not as friendly or cost effective???? Maybe someone from the UAE could ship there? I understand there's some tax savings from import and export...but I'm not that deep in the weeds (yet) into international container shipping.

How do you decide what get reviews? Suppliers? You and the camera crew? Viewers?
@BrianPhillipsRC
@BrianPhillipsRC 2 жыл бұрын
We work hard to keep the pipeline full, meaning we just want to have 3-5 boxes there and ready for when we have windows of opportunity. Sometimes we request specific items, and other times they send what they want to send, more often the latter. I want some planes that we never get, and we get some planes I never wanted...so it's kind of a double edged sward. I love doing this, but this is one of the very large compromises of the process for me...my time gets used on projects that might not have been a first choice for me personally, but I end up experiencing, and having a deeper knowledge of the current inventory of aircraft available on the market, and thus become a better reviewer for you guys watching. After all, we've *TRIED* to make this channel not just about what I like, but about what the audience NEEDS to get nudged into the hobby, past a technical/skill holdup, or just deeper into the sport...and also helping them to decided between choices, while not necessarially talk someone into a purchase they have zero interest in. That all being said, we try to tailor our content to what our audience might like, and I use my personal preferences to gauge what you guys MIGHT like, since I'm basically my target audience - youth to middle age male(s) who loves toys but who has REAL responsibilities that keep them from doing what they might love to be doing and is desperate for some time that they can give their 100% focus for short bursts of ethical excitement...and totally new pilots too...we don't mean to diminish the diversity of our reach here either, but just that's who I'm assuming would be watching, and we try to tailor our message to those people...buyers, but not just for that reason, we also want to grow our reach, so we have more pull with the different RC companies that help make this channel possible. We don't want to run a channel for KIDS (exclusively), because they're the benefactors of their parents spending choices, and there's already so much of that out there already. I want to speak straight to the guy or gal who's making the spending decisions...the one who's working hard and makes good money, and has to be responsible, spending the vast, VAST majority on his or her family, and not necessarially in the pursuit of their own dreams. We want to help those people maximize their experience. We want to help people sort through the insane amounts of garbage out there, and try to guide them to the "Better" options. And yes, Megan and I do work together to make some of these decisions on what to take on, but more often than not, this is one of my principle responsibilities, and also one of the hardest parts of this work - dealing with our suppliers. It is 100%, hands down, the hardest part of this job (Aside from dealing with trolls online - that is terrible!). Also, when you work REALLY hard for a long time, like years and years, it's hard to think how fragile this whole thing really is...so we have to try our best to bring our "A" game all the time...it's definitely not without many "heated" debates between Megan and I, not that this wouldn't happen in another family business. We just feel like we're working through endless challenges. It's not "harder" than my day job, but it's more weighty to me, and it's getting to be harder, as my day job gets easier with almost 2 decades of experience now...we want this thing to make it...we want to see it to it's full potential...we both have so much of ourselves invested in it, and we want to get it where it needs to be. Thanks for being here. Hope this answers your quesiton.
