Close to a 100 year old cinematic example of a man who kept his marriage vows AND who called out to God/acknowledged a Creator God of the Judeo-Christian scriptutes And asked Him for guidance and help in his endeavors through his life as portrayed in that prayer. Arrowsmith, a man who chose to do the "right" thing. Thanks for posting this movie on the past values of life that have been given up/forgotten by this nation and its people of all ages.

I read this Sinclair Lewis novel in my 20’s (1960’s) and loved it. Fine old American pioneer stock is our boy from the Midwest - with an incredible British accent ! LOL 😂 1:31:17 Coleman’s incredible, beautifully created scene - poignant, devastation, despairing, emptiness, absolute grief. 🥀 The last line. A very fine actor. 😶

Their relationship is COMPLETELY unbelievable. Horribly wooden dialogue renders them caricatures really. Sad to see an actor as capable as Hayes relegated to such a cartoonishly subservient role. The real value of this film is as an example from a time before more equality existed for men AND women, when humanity was working with one arm tied behind its back. Terrifying that so many are glorifying this as some "glorious" past.

This is but L’étiquette de l’époque. How can you compare modern attitudes with that of years ago, with such cynicism. I'm sure there's plenty of misogyny, when actors are cast for modern productions, falling prey to the dreaded casting couch. You give no example why Ms Hayes was capable, to then lampoon her with comparison to that a caricature. Mainstream films are full misinterpretation, low budget production with quality writers & actors are always more enjoyable to watch.

The original lab leak movie. Actually, depriving half is valid. His "cure" might be worse for the patient than the disease. So testing in a scientific way is indicated. And if the treated group seems to do better then you change protocol. Treatment group, as we all have seen, might also have worse outcomes.

A very enjoyable film that has more than enough topics of discussion within it, like much of Sinclair Lewis's other work. Aerosmith's initial dedication to the betterment of small town America was something to cherish. When he later on embarked upon a Walter Reed type effort at eradicating a long time plague of mankind, it too was also most deserving of high accolades. Instead of culminating all these successes into a position of Heralded accomplishments, he decides to shun the establishment, as he felt himself to be bigger than the whole system that had made him. A tragic story of a once optimistic Doctor who saw the realistic choices open to him, but in the end became nothing more than another arrogant idealist.

It's impossible to watch a movie on KZfaq anymore without interruptions for stupid ads every other minute. One minute into this movie there was an ad. Then a few minutes later, a series of ads. Ad blockers used to work, but no more. I give up on KZfaq. Good luck trying to squeeze more money out of it, yourself. It has become way too bloated with ads to be tolerable for people who just want to stay still and watch a classic for an hour and a half.

Coleman and Hayes, in a sloppy plot that meanders forever. Bad enough he leaves his wife with enough tubes of plague to kill everybody and she has to handle it, but he doesn't give her 'the shot'? Throwing Myrna Loy in a short part that went nowhere didn't help. Disappointing.
