What causes pores
Pore size is largely going to be determined by your genetics. Some people have small pores while others have large pores and as far as Pore size and density , this is going to be directly proportional to the size and amount of sebum or oil the sebaceous glands underneath the skin produce. And If you have oily skin, you're much more likely to notice your pores. Which means people with oily skin are much more likely to want to shrink them.
How to shrink pores and get rid of pores on your nose
1) The last thing you want to be using is a bar soap. Bar soaps often contain ingredients in them that clog pores up. Standard bar soaps can actually cause acne and inflame your face. This is because it leads to overly drying out the skin. When this happens, your oil glands will try to auto-hydrate and produce more oil or sebum which leads to pore clogging and making your pores look larger.
2.) Use water soluble cleansers instead of alcoholic astrigents. You may have heard of using astringents to tighten up the pores. But the truth is, the ones containing isopropyl and other alcohols, may dry you out too much and cause a paradoxical effect making your skin more oily which doesnt help out at all.
3.) You want to make sure all your cosmetics are non oil based. So look for products that actually state non comedogenic, which basically means, its not going to clog your pores. When it comes to make up, opt in for water-based makeup. Natural oils arent necessarily better either, oils like coconut and olive is a recipe for clogged pores, even if you have dry skin. The oils will mix with your skin cells and cause pore congestion.
4.) Use a retinoid.
5.) Try out a salicylic acid wash. Salicylic acids are known as BHA’s, beta hydroxy acids. They are oil soluble, that means they can work both on the surface and deeper inside the pores to unclog and exfoliate at the same time. A pro tip here, is to make sure you don’t use this at the same time as your retinoids as this can cause increased irritation.
How to get rid of pores on your nose and prevent pores on your face
1.) Don't scrub. If you scrub the area of your pores, this will cause flakiness and clog your pores. So avoid the loofah here.
2.) Wash off makeup before bed. Sleeping in makeup overnight can cause the pores to become blocked due to a buildup of makeup, oil, and bacteria. So use those makeup wipes.
3.) Don't forget the sunscreen. If you're out in the sun for long periods of time, The sun is going to affect your skin’s collagen, which keeps the skin firm and tight. With less collagen, your skin will start to sag, tugging on your pores and making them appear larger.
4.) Treat sagging skin. A board-certified dermatologist can examine your skin and tell you what can tighten your skin tailored just for you. Many procedures can be done in the office and require no downtime.
5.) Stay hydrated. Water hydrates the skin from within. Which theoretically can help improve the overall complexion.
WHAT CAUSES ENLARGED PORES:
Factors that may lead to enlarged pores include:
• Increased sebum production
• Hair follicle size
• Use of comedogenic products
• Loss of skin elasticity with age
• Sun damage
NON COMEDOGENIC SKIN CARE PRODUCTS:
Non comedogenic skin care products, is basically a fancy word for products that won’t clog your pores. When pores clog they expand, which can you make your pores more noticeable.
So to avoid clogged pores looks for the following terms on everything your apply to your face,
• Non-comedogenic
• Oil free
• Won’t clog pores

I second that.... I'm not a professional but some of this information is common sense, well maybe not common but my great Nana, Nana and aunts have been telling me since my childhood not to use body soap, especially bar soaps etc etc etc. I now have THIS video to share with those who are suffering with clogged pores and acne. These tips can definitely make your whole face look healthier, not just your nose pores. DEFINITELY going into my beauty -health playlist.

Everyone, definitely don't use makeup wipes to wash your face. They can irritate the skin, some contain harsh ingredients, and don't actually clean the skin (they move makeup around and just make it look clean). Just use the gentle cleanser or, even better, double cleanse!

hey dude, not a doctor or acne specialist here, but one thing that’s worked for me, is swapping from the bar soap, and using liquid body wash with exfoliating beads, after u wash ur body wash ur hands before you wash your face!!! and then I use Dr brandts pore demobrasion face wash, followed by clean and clear salicylic acid (it will dry your skin out really badly so….) after you use clean and clear salicylic acid moisturizer, which continues the treatment while moisturizing rather than washing the treatment away to gain relief. this is just the routine that’s been working best for me however, I’m still watching the same video as I’m giving this advice 😅

Ok so I’m very cautious for what I put on my skin but no soap had seemed to be helping because I have very dry oily skin, like it’s like I have 2 layers ontop my skin and the first is dry and flaky and then it’s super oily above. And I had just started using dove bar soap cause I was like ok maybe I’m being to complicated with my skin care so I’m just using that and Cetaphil. My skin has gotten better but i just have kinda big pores on my cheeks and it’s not like I’m old like I’m 17 so I don’t think it’s aging but it’s always been a problem since maybe like my freshman year of highschool and I’m a jr about to be a senior…. Any other tips? Or brands?

Does pore expression help? I feel like clearing the pore allows less build-up of sebum which eventually stretches out your pores? At least I feel like it makes mine look smaller
@abc123youandme
@abc123youandme 2 жыл бұрын
I'm not a doctor, let alone a dermatologist, but what has helped me tremendously is starting to use an AHA and a BHA and better cleansers that I've gotten in Ipsy and BoxyCharm boxes. My pores have always been huge and filled with sebum & sebaceous filaments. I've not had horrible acne, per se, but I spent a lot of time clearing junk from my pores. Once I added the aforementioned to my routine my pores are noticeably more toned. I hate to say smaller because someone always comes along and says you can't shrink them. Regardless, aside from sensitivity to the sun I have no complaints!! I use Neutrogena Pore Refining cleanser and Clean and Clear Blackhead Eraser Scrub, together, twice a week in the shower.
@abc123youandme
@abc123youandme 2 жыл бұрын
@@iCthe4 I use Neutrogena Pore Refining cleanser which says it has both AHA and BHA, and Clean and Clear Blackhead Eraser Scrub with salicylic acid which is a BHA. I use them in the shower 2x a week. So, it's maybe overkill but this is how I do it. Essentially, wash face during normal shower routine, then when finished with the rest of the body I rinse my face and wash with a sponge using these two cleansers. Then after I rinse the conditioner out of my hair I was again with a CeraVe foaming facial cleanser that has ceramics and I think hyaluronic acid amongst other things. Then I personally, not recommending this for everyone, use an exfoliating cotton round and wipe my face with 70-something % isopropyl alcohol. I know it can be drying but this has always tightened my pores. Then I use a toner, I like Farmacy Deep Sweep, I think it is, and I love Andalou Naturals. I've never seen any reviews on them but personally love them. I also have magnifying mirrors and good sharp tweezers as well as a pore tool set. I spend a fair amount of time making sure I get any congestion I can pulled or expressed out. I will fairly regularly use an oil, such as rosehip oil, and saturate my face with it and massage it in. I find sebum plugs much easier to remove by doing it this way. No scientific research behind any of this that I am aware of,, just what I've found that works. I use a acne spot treatment for any inflamed areas and several different serums and moisturizers.

no- your skin will just produce more oil to compensate. Don't squeeze your skin unless it's a pimple that's ready to erupt, in which case you should sanitize the skin, heat with a warm compress, and press, VERY gently, and then sanitize again. Avoid the habit of squeezing or picking at skin.

I believe what he means by this is, using a towel (or any item) to scrub your skin. You can exfoliate your skin, just don't do it everyday. Once a week or twice is good enough. When drying your face, make sure to use a clean towel and gently dab the towel onto the skin.

Although I did have some flaky skin that I managed to remove, I know it’s not a good thing, but moisturiser helped a lot, my face doesn’t sting anymore either since the first time I done it🤝 imma start exfoliating 1-2 days a week now though cause I also read that somewhere else, thanks for the towel tip! They can stretch if they are blocked and aren't being properly cleaned. If you catch it in time, you may be able to help them heal and shrink a little by cleaning your face regularly, but it's more likely that if they've gotten pretty large, you won't ever be able to get them back to the original size.
