Sometimes, it rubs on me like whatever arteta does, hes going to get criticized, regardless. I remember last season at old Trafford after we went down 2-1 against united and arteta went all out, subbing in attacking players only to cencede, the 3rd goal minutes later and was called naive, baited and allowed the emotions got the better of him, now he approached united on Sunday with a clear head and his team won against united, only to be criticized again for respecting united too much

@@javierlandaverde4108 I agree that he has been better but his natural style is still to lead the line. That can be a really good thing. But I think he Martinelli would benefit more from having Vieira at number 8 instead of Havertz as he's more creative. Jesus doesn't naturally lead the line. He sees the four other attacking players as players who can all play ahead of him rather than behind him.

I think it’ll certainly take some time to fully gel with the tactics, especially with an entire new midfield, and roles Kai Havertz and Declan Rice have never played before (Kai dropping deeper than ever and Rice being attacking as well as defending), but once they’re fully fleshed out, and players fully understand what role they’re doing, it could be a very tough day for any opponent!

I agree! Like you say, with new tactics and new players. Things will take time to settle and the players to gel. Arteta already has to adapt more as the long term injury to timber means we haven't got the flexibility to invert from RB like we do with zinny from LB, although I do think white does that role well enough and he links up with odegaard and saka really well. But injuries a side. I hope when everyone is match fit and understands their roles fully, I really hope to see our football being as fluid as last year. It was such a joy to watch.

I think that sitting off against Man U was necessary and by design they are the one team that has always found success agains us in the counter. I think that’s situational and not something to get too in depth about. I think we have been slightly off it this season. When I look at our expected points and goals against we are second only to Man city so our underlying numbers would suggest that we are playing as well as we did last year. So given that the eye test has looked poor and our underlying stats are fine I’d say that probably means we are in a very good place to improve on last year as when everything clicks we should have improved underlying stats as the team looks and plays better.

This was a great video. I really think Jesus being back in the starting XI will allow for balls to be received and progressed in the half spaces. While Nketiah is a fantastic player, he doesn't have the ability to receive and hold long balls the way Haaland can, nor does he have the ability to link up play centrally the way that Gabriel Jesus or Harry Kane might. I think Jesus will also be able to unlock potential for Kai Havertz.

We used to be a fast and intense team, and now it sometimes seems like we're deliberately trying to slow down. 😅 I'm still confused as to whether this is by design or because the players aren't used to each other yet, but I really don't think it's a big big problem per se.

It is important to note that we rank 2nd with the best defence for xg conceded so we have improved incredibly with our counter pressing, the goals we conceded like the first one against fulham is very avoidable. I worry that in doing so we have compromised the fluidity , that dynamism we had in attack especially the left hand side it's hurting Gabby. I'd still play Kai against everton as unpopular as that may be but he's won the most duels in the team and that will benefit us out of possession.

I think the main problem is arteta is trying to fit all his best players on the field even though they have different qualities. Rice is a great example of this. He is not the best pivot in-terms of playing the ball through the center with this back to opponent. So arteta is trying to figure out a way to build from the wide and come back in. I dont know how this would work but having these kind of tactical questions early in the season is better than having to do it mid season. Thats what happened to pep last season. So if arteta can rival pep, then it is time for him to show us how he would find the solution to this problem.

The problem with our attacking effectiveness through the middle stems from Eddie, he doesn’t pull defenders out of position and always makes selfish runs for himself where as Jesus will make a run for someone else to go through and also drop deep to make something happen, also with Havertz he’s making the runs but often clashing with Eddie or just isn’t being passed to, I’d also love to see ESR in the left 8 as he can turn and run at people

I think we are trying to evolve as a team and that evolution is for more control which isn’t exciting football wise but should create more consistency in terms of results, et al, Man City. We must also remember that game state determines the effectiveness of tactics massively, if Kai had scored that sitter after 11 minutes against Man U then Arteta’s tactics would’ve been fully vindicated as United wouldn’t be able to sit in like a mid table club against us and we would’ve have had a better performance I believe.

Him being irritated by the questioning is valid, like how many times have city been slow to start and just steamroll during the end of the season? Like we are trying to get to that level. The fact that we beat united 3-1 without playing our best is testament to how good this team is…we are only going to get better from here. The panicking is very unnecessary and he’s earned the trust already. We weren’t even projected to be THIS good THIS early. I think our appetite for taking risks will improve if we’re DANGEROUS in front of goal, if Havertz and Eddie can reliably put them away! One thing I didn't like about the ManU game was having Zinchenko invert all the way over to the right side of the pitch and Rice moving to the left. The up side of having Zinchenko back was his chemistry with Martinelli. With him on the right that never happened. So dispite playing our better suited formation Arteta broke it Zinchenko doesn't have thesame chemistry with Saka as White does and because of this shift it moved White away from Saka into a 3rd CB roll. This crippled the right side again and left Martinelli with 2 players he doesn't have any chemistry with in Rice and Havertz. We were very lucky that ManUs back line is poor and for this match even poorer with the likes of Maguier and jonny Evans being there only CB suibs they had. The other thing that really bothered me was Ary6shockingly poor game management which seems to be just as poor as the end of 2 seasons ago. His game management has not improvedat all. This game was screaming for a HT change with Jesus and Trossard replacing a nowhere Eddie and Havertz although Havwas sound defensively. If Arteta keeps getting out managed we will not have a chance at the titand get eaten alive in CL.

Arteta is not pep and oour players are not seasoned title winners. So I propose to enjoy the ride and see how we grow

My concern with being unpredictable is that we strike the right balance between consistency and dynamism. I think that works better with dynamic players (Trossard, Saka) in an established system than it does with pure tactics. It's often seemed like our backline pre-United struggled to self organize when Partey inverted, which again is to the point about relationships but also about consistency. The best teams have a consistent pattern of play with dynamic players who have freedom of expression within the tactical setup.

For a manager who has repaid a fan's trust in the process, it isnt unfair to trust the manager to make the best possible decision given known information. After all, managers make decisions based on what they think is best for the team, especially when their job is constantly on the line

I disagree with ppda agaisnt Man U, thier Gk is unpressable and they would have scored way more on the counter. More possession /= better. The approach we took agaisnt Man U was spot on untill the mistake which gave them the goal... again on the counter. Man U were absolutely toothless with the ball. Wolves did the same thing and they could have easily won. Like he said, every road is different, every game is different. Also many teams do pack the middle and double up on the wingers so yea its very difficult to score goals and have an impact unlike last season. Which is why Havertz is so important but he isnt cooking yet... Rice also is not as good as Partey with the ball, like on the half turn and inside the middle block in opposition half, we arent creating from the middle. Again a solution is to play Jorginho x Zinchenko in some games.

Rice is great and I think Harvetz will come good but Arsenal fans have to be realistic. As good as Rice is, he is not very press resistant as compared to Partey or Rodri or other elite 6's. This is hard to take but as a fan step back and look at where Rice recieves the ball. The reason Arteta did not let Partey go is that he understands that Partey is better than Rise as a 6 he just is. My problem with Partey is that he get's injured so much but he is a key to a Champions League Arsenal and a premier league winning Arsenal. Rise will play ass an 8 for Arsenal when Partey is fit because he is not press resistant as compared to the 5 to 6 elite no 6's in the world.

I think this is spot on. Fans gotta calm down. He has brought this club to where it is based on his skill as a coach, and if he thinks we need to adapt as time goes on (a completely sensible sentiment btw), then that’s fair enough. Sure, developing new tactical systems has some growing pains but ultimately, it’ll be worth it. Not so sure that we 'sat off' of Utd forcing them to go long. They were going long anyway, we kept a good shape to defend the long ball and didn't get dragged into stepping 20 yards forward and leaving the space that they wanted us to. Ref not going through the middle. Check Eddie's positional play against that of Jesus. You always know where Eddie will be, he just stands there, like a park player, Jesus on the other hand is a nightmare to defend against, he can pop up anywhere.

Interesting analysis, but it misses the more important point. Beginning of the season, new players and new tactics.. now is the time to experiment. Arteta could play safer combinations and be more conservative, but then he'll be showing all his cards and have little to surprise the likes if Man City later on in the season. He has to risk losses now in order to explore new options and help new players discover how they can be of best impact on this team. It's funny how second is the first to lose when it comes to impatient Arsenal fans. If you think you can do better, consider walking the walk and not just talking the talk. All in good fun I hope

Arteta was really defensive throwing in naf analogies. We weren't found out so much as tired physically mentally and emotionally as well as bottling it. Playing shit isn't being found out and neither is making silly errors. As for pumping Havertz confidence lol. He shanked the ball 5 yards out in golfing terms he shanked a putt. Not having a go at Arteta talk just your take on it 🤡. You can always go through doundnor over with right players with right passes and touch. Not so easy but its largely mentality. Confident you flow with a quick temp. Slow it down and all your tactics gone as opposition back in place. Havertz affects game defensively it is momentum sponge when he gets ball. Martinelli hyst wants his boy playing lol. We haven't seen that much Martinelli-Vieira magic to date. Sorry you don't get too much confidence knocking it about your back line. You just start to think we will get caught out eventually. Against Man U it was right to not press Onana early. It's a nervous hesitancy dstopping us flow and leading to mistakes. Brighton are fearless in comparison. My fear in is Arteta actually had chronic late Wengeritis . Hopefully that I'd just a passing phase but like shingles it seems to come back under stress and had been super apparent end of last two seasons. I sort of hope we are getting it out the way early this year. Buy until run in is over I won't be totally convinced. I said last year squad not strong enough and I said if City win last 12 we can't e blaming Arteta or team. But 2 up at Liverpool I thought, fuck we really have changed we can do this. I thought shit then when we ripped West Ham apart I thought fuk we really..... Saliba out and Holding nothing to do with Ramsdale passing to them or Partey trying to play keep up against one of best ball winners in league. I hope for the best but I ain't going full in until the end lol. Ps as soon as Timber out I thought we are fuked for title. When we didn't bring someone in I thought we are double fuked. Niw Partey already out not for a game but 7 weeks. Jesus called up I read lol. Couldn't make that shit up. Top 4 and quarter finals but with bottle not bottling and I think it's a good season. But please tell them they can be scared as telling them they ain't allowed to be obviously didn't work. Arteta psychology is pretty juvenile and he needs some serious grown up influencer in background.

I see a clear difference in Arsenal when a fully fit Gabriel Jesus and Zinchenko aren't on the pitch. I thought last season that Martinelli and a few other players interchange a lot more fluidly with Jesus than with Eddie, who tends to stay within certain areas too much in order to score. Jesus holds the ball so well for a small player and has incredible skill and ball carrying ability, as well as experience. I like Eddie, but the only time I feel like there's a huge drop in quality is when Jesus is not there. It's not until he comes back that you realise how much you missed him. I would also like to promote the idea of putting Zinchenko in the left-sided 8 role, with Tomiyasu at LB. I feel like Zinchenko is a perfect fit for that position and it would relieve him of defending duties, which are not his forté. His progressive passing would really help us with our lack of central penetration.

@silverheart7964 8 ай бұрын
@@jacobalexander4167yeah I get that, but Havertz currently has nothing to attack. We're not getting him in those positions frequently enough, and the ball isn't being fed through the central lines enough for him to actually get on the end of anything. He doesn't offer the drive or progressive passing other players like Zinchenko or Vieira can in my opinion. I don't think attacking the box is what we need right now. We need central, progressive passing into the final phase, so we can stop being forced out wide and around, as the video says. I like Havertz, but for me he's actually not what we need in that position most of the time. Xhaka wasn't a player who attacked the box like Havertz and I feel like we really miss what he offered.

There's no link between Saliba and Odegaard when Rice plays. We win some and we lose some with Rice in the team. I think he makes us more compact defensively but we lack fluency in the build-up. IMO, I think we attacked the middle harder in the pre-season. The common denominator is Eddie. I love him, but he doesn't make space or pull defenders. We can see that Jesus does… his few minutes against MANU showed that. Jesus would also create the space that Havertz needs to thrive like when he scored this preseason. Just what I have seen so far. Eddie has 2 goals agains very mid sides and hasn’t crated opportunities for others.
