Arteta is the type of manager other fans would dream of having. Ex player and captain- who never even celebrated a goal against his club whilst coaching another, empathetic, believes that the fans are so important and has changed the ethos and atmosphere, young and driven and will only get better, loyal but not afraid to sacrifice someone for the interests of the group, players now want to go to Arsenal, players under him respect and like him. I'd give him a 5 year deal.

There are still thicko AFTV fans who regurgitate what pro Pep & Man City mass media says that Arsenal haven't won enough trophies under Arteta. Man City pay twice the wages of any other club. Arteta shd be lauded that Arsenal are even challenging City & are able to finish 2nd in the league. Monopoly City have 2 world class players for every position. Arsenal don't even have an out-and-out striker, left winger to cover for Saka or reliable left back or top energetic CM to fill in when Partey is injured. Arteta is improving the squad every year & enormous progress is being made. Sick of negative, impatient Gunners fans who also leave games early if the team isn't winning.

I still say the moment I knew Arteta was special was during the Europa League when we lost away. Every single player sat down on the pitch with their head down. Mikel went to each of them and personally helped them up and led them over to the away fans to thank them for their support. That level of class can’t be taught and someone who leads like that, i would follow into the fires of hell #uptheguns

One of the things that amuse me when I hear fans of other clubs, is how they attack Arteta for taking 'so long' to get us to this position. He had a complete reconstruction on his hands, and he did it from the ground up. Few managers would be capable of doing that, with most successful ones doing so on the foundations laid down before their arrival. How many of us realistically believed that we'd be back in this position, so soon? Top 4? Sure. Runners-up? Perhaps, but not pushing City all the way, and should the stars align, worthy champions. Arteta has already made history, and has the potential to be an Arsenal legend, with a legacy that could one day be up there with Wenger's.

Completely agree with your views on Pep's comments Charles. You have to look over a longer period and take all spend into account, not just transfer fees. As an example, Mbappe is going to Madrid this summer so people could point to that as a £0 transfer fee. But when you take wages, bonuses, signing on fees and agent fees into account it will be one of the most expensive deals of the summer!

Craig Burley openly remarked on ESPN after our win at Leaky Trafford that the 100+ charges against City won't go away and [ authorities ] need to give clarity asap; and can't pick and choose teams (i assume he meant Everton, Forrest) ... I am a US-based Arsenal fan. Can you talk a little about where this deep hatred between Arsenal and Tottenham comes from? Is it just proximity or is there history some of us foreign fans don't fully understand/feel? We have rivalries here in our US-based sports, but I can't think of any that run so deep we would ever cheer for our own team to lose in a way that hurts our team in the following season just to hurt a rival this season.

Hi Charles! In December my recency bias kicked in and I thought Mikel had only until the end of the 2024/2025 season to produce something. But these last 5 months have definitely changed my mind. I think Mikel will deliver and can’t wait to see it! Plus when I look back over Mikel’s reign, it truly is inspirational. All these other clubs on the manager merry-go-round look to Arsenal and Mikel’s journey.

Long may it continue! As for our manager, I’ll be honest, there was times I wasn’t convinced if he was the right man to led us back to glory. Now I find myself to be in absolute awe of the man, he oozes class, integrity & humbleness. The thing I like the most about him is, his eagerness and determination to succeed, he really is relentless and always demands more from the club, players and fans. He really does know what we need (as the chant goes 😅) I think we have a world beater of a manager and should count ourselves lucky to have him. City have been spending £40 - £50m per annum more than Arsenal since 2020, thats £180m extra investment which always gets ignored when discussing who spends what. As you rightly say City invested heavily to buidl where they are and are now 'ticking over' Arsenal are not as far along, or at least weren't.....

Hi Charles, hope all is well! In regards to Arteta, I feel too many people just look at the final destination (potentially winning trophies) and not the journey to get there. Arsenal were in a right state when Arteta came in and look at where he has gotten us. Yes, we all want to win trophies. But you can't go from 0-100, especially when going up againest City and Liverpool. The other thing is this is Arteta's first job. He is still learning and already pushing Pep. It terms of some of our fans being "Arteta out" for what ever reason?!... The only thing we should be focuing on is consistancy. If we do, the trophies will take care of themselves in the coming seasons. Spurs wont do us a favour, its just how much City will score by, more concerned about our goal difference, i think its slightly better to have us focus on Everton and hope West Ham hold City rather than the whole team having to overthink the game for the rest of the week if City do drop points today at Spurs. Has the team brought in the right players under Artetta? 8/10. Rice, Havertz, Odegard, White, all 10/10 signings. A few ducks like Tavarez, but mostly excellent or good. Bringing on. Have the players improved? 9/10. I can't think of a player who has not improved massively. Bringing through. Saliba is the one player brought through the development route (but was purchased as a young prospect. The jury is out, we seem to be unable to get the message out to scholars that if they go on loan and make a success of it they will earn a place in the squad. Hutchinson and Patino are in the front of my mind, but Cozier Duberry and Walters are also there. All four have been badly advised by their agents. The agents should tell them "sign a three year contract toe the line, work hard on your loan spell and see where it gets you. Those that have have done well for themselves, Balogan, ESR, Nelson, Nketiah did that and are all Prem players now, with a great career ahead. Whereas Walters and Hutchinson are going to get a rocky path ahead of them, they will not have the contacts and relationships in their new club, which will not buy them the patience needed for them getting over their schoolboy errors that all young players make. Not worried one bit about Mikel's contract. It just feels like a certainty that he'll stay. I reckon its quite on that now because the season is still going, and once its wrapped up, you'd think him and Josh will meet up, Mikel will leverage his remaining short time left at the club for hefty spending money, and the contract will be signed to ease the worries of any potentially incoming players.

Hi Charles - what a season it has been, thank you for your dedication in producing so much content for us. What are your thoughts on Timber going to the Euros? A few months ago I was totally against it however given his progress in the past few weeks I feel that it would actually be good for him to go and hopefully play. As long as he doesn't get injured again, I don't see a downside given that he will get some top level competitive minutes under his belt which should lead him nicely into pre-season, ready for the start of the next campaign. A one year extension makes most sense for me.. the great work he’s done & progress made isn’t in question.. but we’re Arsenal, we should be challenging for titles.. it’s been almost 5 years now & only one major trophy.. it’s not as if there hasn’t been significant investment either.. if he’d have got us ‘over the line’ this season or last then yea give him a new long-term contract & as much money as he wants.. but he hasn’t.. & we’ve not even got close in other competitions.. one year extension & see how next season goes just seems to make the most sense (imo)

So far we have been talking about a potential Striker, Winger as our potential summer targets which is absolutely fine, but there are 2 things I wanted to highlight 1- Who is our replacement to Odegaard. He is just so good, he directs our attack, presses & counter press we are really lucky to have him fit throughout the season, in case he is out for some matches I wonder who would that be. Dont you think we need a cover form him in this window. 2- Gabriel and Saliba are our rocks, last season we all saw what happened when Saliba was missing which brings me to my second point do we need a Centre Back just to make sure in case we need to give any of our CB little rest Just wanted to know your thoughts about it and lastly lovely content as always. Of course MA should be offered a new contract. Even if (as expected) City beat us to the title this year, we've pushed them all the way. THE biggest thing for me is how the mentality has shifted. We've not fallen away here in the run-in. We've kept City honest so we've improved on last season. I don't know why people aren't convinced by Arteta to be honest, he's had to break it down and build it up from scratch which is incredibly difficult to do.... that is why I'm fully, 100%, behind Mikel Arteta and are more than happy to see him at the helm of our ship for many years to come. We've got a manager that many other clubs around Europe would bite your arm off to have him in charge of their club.
