I understand that this is very clever analysis, But I am sure that this is a problem of Mentality and Tactics. We have very good players. Maybe we need striker but overall we are in a good shape but lack of mentality costing us losses. We spend so much money on what I will term mechanical midfielders, big string ball winners but not enough on midfield maestros, those that can take the ball and find attacking players. Those that can open spaces and attack the goal. More ununderstandable is our lack of attention on forward players. We need wingers and strikers that would bring our games to conclusions. Signing only center back and holding midfielders won’t win us the league. Winning the ball and doing nothing with it won’t get us goals.

And I will say too that IF we learn how to find Havertz when he ghosts in and IF he can hit the target more regularly, when he does get the ball, then that will be a game changer. James' tactical change would be MUCH stronger if the double-pivot is comprised of Partey and Rice, and the overlapping left-back is Tierney. At least rotate Jorginho Partey and Rice so they won't burn out. Arteta messed up royally by sidelining and then loaning Tierney. Much more by asking him to be a below-average inverter instead of the world-class overlapper he is.

But before he decides to make substitutions when things are not working as usual, he should please switch player positions first for at least 20 minutes to see whether there would be improvement in the potency of the attack before making the substitutions. For instance, if our front five in attack are Havertz, Odegaard, Martinelli, Saka and Gabriel Jesus with Saka and Martinelli in their rigid traditional right and left inverted wings, he should switch their positions from formation A to formation B or C or D below to see how the gameplay would change. Not popular opinion, but I would rather sell Zinny and keep Tierney. Considering all the dynamics that Zinny brings to the midfield when he inverts, he's a great liability in defense, somewhat masked by our solid defense. We can't have a liability in any part of our defense, its what cost us the title last season. Anyhow it's my personal opinion that Zinny's arc in Arsenal would come to a close once Timber is back to full fitness.

Arteta is two steps forward one back. Havertz and Pepe have unsettled the team on the pitch. Timber coming back will be a big boost as well a smart January transfer.

All these links are rubbish. Both Guerreiro and Frimpong play at wingback not fullback. They’ll offer little to no defensive structure. We’d have the same problem. Theo Hernandez is an elite player but I doubt AC Milan would sell him even if we exchange a player. The benzema story is just propaganda. This guy is earning nearly 2M a week.
