Arteta has a huge problem. If he spends 80 to 100+ million on a striker, that person will have to start. This then begs the question: what does he do with Kai Havertz? Because he has proven he cannot play in midfield. Maybe play 2 up top? I think Arteta signs a striker to sit on the bench and replace Nketiah. So likely a 20 year old from outside the PL who can be coached and used as a sub mostly in the first couple seasons until Havertz gets sold

Isak has pace, class and finishing, but he’s not going to transform the Arsenal game because it doesn’t need transforming. And pace class and finishing is stoppable - look at Magalhaes/Saliba v Haaland - so while it would be great to have an Isak at Arsenal it’s not like Arteta is going to build the team around him, the actual challenge of this team is there’s no fulcrum point you build around. I’m not sure Isak would be happy as a bench option, he wants to be The Man, which is why he looks so good at Newcastle (when fit. They do love a Main Man up there, false 9’s ghost 8’s and inverted inverts don’t tend to work on Tyneside wa-hey!). Isak is a lovely finisher when he’s in the groove though. Just don’t think he’s ’the answer’ for Arsenal when I’m not convinced what the question is! We haven’t yet seen what The Timber will bring (so frustrating I watched him in warm-ups and game 1 and thought ‘we got one here’, fingers crossed he gets his chance now). We had fill-ins at LB all season, they did well but they were fill-ins. The knock-on was we tended to favour the right side and Martinelli got a bit dejected end of season, he will benefit if Timber can slot in and that in turn takes some attention off Saka, who was criticized at times when in fact he was being double and triple teamed and showed a lot of maturity, at times he was being kicked 2 feet into the air for fun. If Timber clicks in that team, u think it’ll move them up another notch. But as usual so much depends on injuries.

Newcastle paid about 65 million for a unproven injured isak. All of the good will the Newcastle owners have garnered with their fans will be gone in an instant regardless of the fee. Isak leaving would leave Newcastle with a broken Wilson. Arsenal along with the rest of the big 6 have done everything they possibly could to stop Newcastles takeover and have tried to change the rules to slow their progress down as much as possible. The only way isak leaves is for a foreign club. Arsenal would need to spend 150 million plus with most of that upfront to get the Newcastle board to even consider it. Isak is 6ft 4, he's really tall and lanky. He's ok in the air but its his dribbling and finishing which sets him apart. He's also two footed - against Brentford he assisted with the left, scored with the right. He will probably sign a new deal at Newcastle with a release clause if no Champions League football next summer and so is a more realistic signing for clubs next Summer, not this; if Newcastle fail to qualify for the CL. I also think he will cost £120m+ this Summer in the unlikely scenario Newcasle sold. You should compare his finishing to Haaland, Isak is MUCH better, as good as Kane. Haaland is stronger and can get into better positions but in a 1v1, Isak can do all kinds of the finishes (place, power, lob and round).

In those positions, I can see them signing one of; Mamardashvili/Simon/Pickford; Hernandez/Davies/Mendy; Zubimendi/Luiz/Ugarte/Kimmich; David/Gimenez/Guirassy/Toney/Gyokeres/Zirkzee.
