Somerset House by Studio 5/8
Somerset House stands on a 10x20 meter plot of land which after cutting off the 6 meter building setback leaves a built-up area of 10x14 meters. To optimize building capacity, Studio 5/8 uses a split level method; so the house, which from the outside looks like it only has 2 floors, actually has 3.5 floors inside, consisting of a semi-basement floor, 1st floor, 2nd floor, and a rooftop which functions as a garden and drying room.
The interior of this house really feels spacious and airy thanks to the presence of a central garden which is designed semi-outdoor using a glass canopy with openings that allow natural air flow to help cool the room temperature. The presence of trees and a vertical garden equipped with mist spray makes this house feel so cool and beautiful. During the pandemic, this courtyard turned out to be a favorite spot for sunbathing while taking photos in the instagrammable stair area.
Another most wow part is the children's bedroom which is designed to be super large, beats the main room, and is provided with nets for playing and relaxing with large windows facing the rostered brick facade. During the day, the shadow from the triangular roof automatically makes this child's room feel really exciting.
