I was lucky enough to see FNM in '92, '93, '95, '97, '09 and '12 and for me this was there best live era and this the best show I've ever been to. What you can't hear in this recording is the sound guy also added loads of reverb and delays to Pattons vocal at the end of the song making it sound even crazier.

Considering Mike's vocal performance and excellent sound quality this is the best FNM gig on youTube. You're right! In the middle of this song Patton seems to be possessed, he's totally out of control. And he does back flip in the last track (Epic) too.

I like Sheffield 92 - there’s BBC broadcast audio and also a shaky cam video footage somewhere too - so spice the two together like what happened here and there’s a close 2nd place video to this gig
@jonnydavies6968 Жыл бұрын
@@YeesusKrist You are so fucking correct! I was at Sheffield and it was the finest gig they ever did, and I've seen then around 10-11 times. They had obviously had enough of Jim by the time of this gig, some 8 months after the Sheffield one, and you can tell. As the Sheffield one was being recorded properly, they had to reign themselves in a bit, but still delivered an unbelievable performance at Sheffield, as is demonstrated on the BBC broadcast. They should release the whole Sheffield concert as a testament to their sheer live power at this time.

It's about the mental breakdown of being an adult actor. Life is just a dirty, pointless, soul-less, existence. The mental abuse of taking something "special" or "sacred" to the human mind and spoiling it by personal and/or self exploitation thus rendering it a dark, unhappy, dirty, hateful, thing. It's just what I read in an interview with FNM back in the day!

This is the Jim Martin' last show, not the last time they played 'Jizzlobber'. They played it again in Manchester on March 11, 1995. If you think this is the best performance of this song take a look to what Mike Patton did at the Warfield Theatre in 1992. Bye

Jim is undoubtely unique and unrepeatable. He had that "dont know what" that separated him from other guitarists. He was like Iommy, but more evil!!! The only replacement capable of living up to his style was Trey Spruance. John Hudson is too "light" for FNM, in my opinion. Maybe they should have continued with Dean Menta after Treys departure.

Mike Patton is one of the most talented rock singers of all time. There's no doubt about. Another thing I really appreciate is his outrageous and unpredictable conduct on stage. I think the people who "THINK" the warfield performance of this is better only think that because it sounds more like the cd version. With a song like this I want it be as absolutely crazy as fucking possible. And if it goes off the track a little, who cares. They've not doing a cover of a Frank Sinatra song, it a ridiculous, odd (hopefully screamy) song called "JIZZLOBBER".

At 4:42, the only thing missing is a straitjacket! What a monster vocalist. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but this might have been the last time the band played this song. That might be why Mike is losing his mind - he knows they will never play this again because it's Jim's song and they knew they were kicking him out of the band.

@GestureStew It's a bit of a well known secret that Bill Gould played most of the guitar on Angel Dust, hence the guitar solos that were nowhere near as complex as the stuff Jim done on Anne's Song (for example) or most of the Real Thing album.
@MrBungleish13 жыл бұрын
@GestureStew @GestureStew "Ooh, uh, yeah. I'm going to have to go ahead and sort of disagree with you there." I too find Angel Dust their best album, however Jim Martin's contribution to it was rather slim. I like Big Jim's guitar playing most of the times, don't get me wrong, however he probably didn't like the change in focus from his guitar playing to Mike's vocals. Consequently, on Angel Dust, besides this awesome song right here, he did not contribute to anything at all.
@TheBomber1513 жыл бұрын
@GestureStew Sorry man, but Jim was on few songs on that album, Kindergarden and Jizzlobber (albeit great songs) are the only ones he recorded on, Billy played guitar for the majority of the sessions. Plus he contributed little to no music in writing the the album, and most other things he wrote weren't good enough, or it wasn't bringing FNM as a group to were they wanted to be. As Mike said "We had to get rid of him to survive", they were making no progress with Jim Martin in the band.

Actually, Jim had very little to do with the writing of Angel Dust (aside from Jizzlobber, notably), which is corroborated by various interviews of the time. See if you can find the 2-DVD interview raw footage that MTV shot while they were in the studio, TONS of great material there about the making of a classic record.

One of all time favourite songs ever. This performance is also very funny indeed. A sweet and strangely passionate live performance. Back when music was truly cynical and oblivious to the trappings of it's own success with intelligence. Concrete evidence that Johnathan Davies and all those other utterly pointless moronic philistines were and are a great embarrassment to aggressive music.
@signupaccountforme15 жыл бұрын
jim had very little input in angel dust. granted he wrote this song, which is one of my favourite songs, but that's it. im my opinion fnm's best album is angel dust, then kfad/ffalt, then album of the year, THEN the real thing, then the others with chuck. jim was cool but didnt actually do much except make the band internally fight. im getting sick of people saying its not a real reunion unless jim is there. when i found out fnm reunited it was the happiest day of my life, regardless of jim.
