Go for it! Choose a focal point have fun with the background, stick it on top and you are done. Don’t be hard on yourself, it’s not about the finished project but about the process… having some crafty time with you papers, paints and stamps!

Before I got on KZfaq I had ordered this paper in the 8 x 8 size, came here and it's what you're using, weird. Such a pretty background and it kind of looks like a map when it's not close up. Simple elements but big impact. I'm new to these paper pads and just before I got online I was looking at my Calligraphy pad and it's so hard to choose because I want to use items on both sides of the same page. I feel like I should buy two at a time. Happy February to you too... Cindy

Vicky, I just love you! I have been watching you for years, and I don't think I have ever commented. Shame on me! However, I believe you are the very best at making art journals, and I have seen a lot. I use to watch both your card making and your journal making and your teaching skills are wonderful. I too am a retired teacher, so I really appreciate your ability to break things down in a way that is easy to understand. I still make cards, but I am getting into art journals now. I just want to know if you use an overall theme for each journal you make? Thanks again for sharing your talent.

Your pages are always so beautiful. I'm just starting out with these techniques, so I really appreciate you showing us how to do things with what we have at home. I know you've said we can fray the edges of paper with scissors, but I wasn't sure how, so I'm so glad you showed it. I've also been trying to figure out how to add the shadows you do with the big brush markers with what I have at home. Watercolors are a great idea. Thank you so much for going back to basics with this tutorial.
