From the sea, traditionally, it is through the Ramblas that the traveler enters Barcelona. A true lung of the city, the avenue was, in the 19th century, the place to live. From this period, there remain a few large residences. In a small street, a few steps from the Ramblas, we discover the Palau Güell. It is the first civil building built by Antoni Gaudi. Above all, it marks the beginning of the architect's collaboration with his major sponsor: the Catalan industrialist Eusebi Güell. This residence will be a real laboratory for Gaudi. Subject to the constraints and desires of his sponsor, he finds astonishing architectural solutions.
