Hello my friend! I am finally dipping my toe into glow in the dark paints! Starting with the Decoart Glow acrylic paints. I am absolutely shocked by the results.
*QUICK UPDATE*
I recently read the actual directions on the back of the bottles and it does recommend using a white base layer.. but it is only a recommendation so craft freely.

Blacklight only has effect on flourescent paint, not glow in the dark paint.

I recently tried these and let me say you really have to charge them with Sunlight/Black light for them to shine their brightest. The result from charging them up with a lightbulb is so different

I hope you're being sponsored because I've been researching about glow paints for the longest time and this is exactly what I've been looking for! Thank you very much! How long does the glow effect last, if I wanted to paint a portrait, would it work years down the line or should I work on it?

So sorry for my delayed response. Thank you so much for watching, and for saying how much you enjoyed it. I am not currently sponsored by anyone, I just wanted to get as much info out there as possible. :) As for how long the glow will last, This video is about 2 years old and the canvas still has the same effect. I'm not certain of the exact length of time but it definitely will last a few years, at least. If you're planning on a black background, you may want to try a layer of white under the glow colors for the maximum effect. I hope this helps

Thanks for doing these reviews! So helpful! Have you tried the FolkArt glow-in-the-dark colors? If you have, which brand glows better?

I have tried lots of different brands of glow paints and colored neon. Decoart Ultimate Glow is fantastic, but depending on your project you could like Culture Hustle LIT. I've got a few playlists that are worth a look 😄

I was hoping you did 1 coat first THEN see how much it glowed, most of us don't want an 1nch thick paint layer that's never going to cure, Me: I wanted to put a single layer over a similar colour so you can only see it in the dark

I'm sorry my video isn't to your liking. I do usually show what the effects are after just the first coat, but for this video, I tried something different. The coats are thin, so if you were to just add it over an existing color, you'd get a light glow. Depending on the underlying color, I'd say it's likely you'll only see it in the dark, but the colors glow brightest with a white base. I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful 😔

Hi love the video can you use them on t-shirts and if so how many layers would you need 😊

You should be able to use them on t-shirts, though i haven't tried it myself. I would say that depending on the color of shirt, you might need anywhere from 3-10 coats. (more on the darker colors - you could try to do a layer of white on black before adding the glow)

Can these particular paint be used on walls ?

Yes they can, you'll just want to use a coat or varnish on top. I'd go with Satin for a slight shine.

From the video the purple looks blue in the dark but in person does it actually look purple?

Sadly the purple glow is more on the blue spectrum than purple. It has a different tone than the blue does but it doesn't appear purple even in person 😔

They should be. They are washable on fabric, and there's also a decoart fabric medium - if you mix it with the paint, it will add extra assurance that it will last 😊

So I surmise 20 coats of glow media . i wish there were true white

Well I just got my hands on Culture Hustles Brightest White Paint. It's as close to true white as you can get, I've also got thier Blackest Black. In theory I could redo this review with those pigments and we could get a wildly different result 😃
