A fascinating pair of expert talks in re a major figure in 19th century Western fine art and his methods. I wish I'd seen the exhibition.

I didn't know anything about Caillebotte until I saw "The Floor Scrapers" at the Musee D'Orsay this summer. It's such a cool painting and it feels very modern for having been done in the 1800s. Of all the amazing artist in that museum, Caillebotte really stuck out to me, mainly because of that one painting.

Outstanding paintings in private collections. Would love to know the provenance. Who was the dealer responsible for selling his work after his death?

A Rainy day in Paris maybe should be called an impending collision. The two figures facing you are one second away from colliding unawares into the umbrella in the foreground. The figure on the right has no room to step aside to avoid the collision. It seems kind of rude and arrogant that they would blindly walk along the sidewalk expecting everyone else to get out of the way.
