Q:What pencil, paper, pen (etc) do you use?
A: I generally use a 2b drawing pencil and artist sketch paper, sometimes Bristol. Check out my Art Supplies video for more information. • Drawing Supplies
Q: How do you record your videos?
A: I use a Sony Handycam HD to record my videos and Adobe Elements Premier for editing
Q: Can I send you mail?
A: Yes! Make sure you check that the correct postage is on the envelope or it won't make it to me.
Q: Will you write me back?
A: If you include a self-addressed stamped envelope, I will reply back to you! :)
Q: Can you draw a picture of my dog. horse, cat, Mother (Etc)
A: Unfortunately, I am unable to take personal requests. If you are interested in purchasing a commissioned drawing from me, send me a message for more information.
Q: How can I get better at drawing?
A: The biggest thing you can do is keep drawing! Never give up.

Through out the whole time as a Printmaker: "Carve away from the Hand! Carve away from the hand!! Please! You *will* slice it open if you don't!" In all seriousness though, Relief printmaking (which is tactually what these stamps are) is a really easy way to get into Printmaking overall. It's the same way Woodblock printmaking is done as well. There is engraving with both wood and metal, but it's where the ink goes *inside* the lines and you print from there and you need something strong enough to make the print like a print roller. Relief at least you can use a wooden spoon or a thing to rub it on with.

Valerie, you are so clever! Love this video! Love the enthusiasm and the very important reminder to give yourself time to learn. I tend to jump into new things and expect a masterpiece on the first try, and then get disappointed. Thank you for this encouraging video. And yes, you totally curated that art box. 😁

I sometimes feel a bit sad that these og great creators aren't getting much views . I remember watching you years ago , and made my 1st cartoon self THANK YOU .. you may be a wife or mom by now but you are great !

I've done linoleum block printing to make cards before, but I haven't tried making stamps. It certainly looks like fun!

In high school ensemble, our director would have us warm up by singing scales to the words "aluminum linoleum, aluminum linoleum". It's now one of my favorite secret super powers.

Odd that they didn’t give you Speedball printing inks and a brayer. The oil pastels work but I can see how they could get loosey-goosey.

dis a nifty box with a neat set of tools for making some smart pieces of art ;)

make the cat image slightly larger, will make getting the details easier and easier to carve away the spaces around the eyes. you can do it with those tools, but there are better carving tools out there to get details in the prints. but those tools work for a beginner since you dont want to spend loads of money on something you might not like. looked like you were having a lot of fun with this 😀

I think it was December’s box. I held it for 2022 so I could include it in my “Try New Stuff” goals. Alice is still in the works. I just haven’t gad time with the holidays to bring it out to work on. Soon though. Need to get a 100 character video up first.
