Those rowlock pins look wrong, they are belaying pins. I have rowed with boats which fir between two wooden posts, and i have used oaus with a broad block forming a hole, they fit over the pins. Not sure which would be used at that time, i suspect two posts each side for each oar

This is a great video. I am finding it more useful than the instructions with the kit!. I have completed the first planking which is OK, though not as good as yours. However, looking ahead the rigging looks very difficult and your photos are a great help but I wonder if you found any better instructions for the rigging other than those in the kit? Keran Power

Hi Keran Thank you for your kind comments regarding the video. The rigging instructions are complicated in the instructions I struggled at first I didn’t find any other instructions other than the manual and the picture on the box. The method I used was to work on one sail at a time starting from the bow using the instruction booklet and the picture on the box for reference. I felt the same that it looked complicated but once you start the rigging it starts to make more sense just take your time and enjoy. Many thanks, Martin.

Beautiful build 👌 I'm about to start that kit myself, the sails I got in the kit are not nearly as nice as yours 😔 did you make better ones 🤔 or has the kit quality slipped

Hi Dave not sure if the sail quality has changed but I soaked the sails in cold water and couple of tea bags to get the aged colour hope this helps.

@@martinfranklin9369leisuretime yes they have definitely been changed to a lower quality just an overlocker ran around the edges and the kit doesn't have that nice walnut looking wood either. I may have to sew up my own sails because the edges look terrible and completely wrong 🙄 I will definitely use the tea bag method to Age then 👌 thanks for the reply ☺️✌️

What an amazing build! Looking to go in my second starter build and heard this would be a great start! Can i ask why type of wood filler are you using? As the last one i used for the other ship literally just started to crumble after sanding and left gaps/

Hi Tauridium Thank you, this is a great kit to build i think you will enjoy it. I use MD super filler which I brought from Cornwall Model boats Ltd a great shop I have also on seen it on EBay it bonds well and doesn’t shrink. Many thanks, Martin Franklin.

Hey there, I am currently building this and it's my first ever ship build. I am at the step in your 14 second mark and I just can't work out how to stick the planks on (specifically the bottom ones in the video). I put glue on but can't hold the plank on at each point so that it doesn't fall off. I am at a bit of a loss. Any suggestions?

Hi G you can use planking clips or strong clothes pegs or other small clamps to hold the wood together whilst the glue drys hope this helps
