My goodness. Arthur Grumiaux has got to be the most underrated of the great 20th century violinists. The elegance, taste, poignancy, and energy of his playing transcend time and technology. Maestro Gyorgy Sebok is the dream pianist we would all love to play with. Their collaborative rendition of this sonata is the definition of true musicianship.

beautiful, passionate performance by an artist whose artistry should not be lost in the endless obsession with the newest latest greatest "stars"that shoot across the sky for a fleeting moment and then disappear into the black hole of mediocrity

This was the first piece on a CD I used to play as a kid to fall asleep. No idea what's on the rest of it because this song always knocked me out right away. Still makes me feel relaxed and sleepy

Daniel Brito very true, Daniel, the crystal heart, elegant and brave.

Daniel Brito i should say, if grumiaux is brahms, then sebok is elisabeth von herzogenberg, outwits him in every aspect of life. But alas! she was married already! this piece and op.77 are all about her and brahms ambition and agony. That is why they are so beautiful, because elisabeth is so schoen !

Two greats, there is no superiority here, just perfect playing together of two extraordinary soloist, denigrqating Grumiaux is absurd.

@@dthomases1 Sadly all too true on KZfaq. Some people denigrate one person to promote the other person.

How true, Sebok was a distinguished pianist but Grumiaux was one of the truly great violinists (and musicians) of the 20th century, building up his counterpart to, directly or indirectly, denigrate Grumiaux is ridiculous and senseless, he was above criticism. The regard he was held in by other musicians should put an end to this discussion.
