Oh, the curse of the everyday man. A good chap 99% of the time, gets no praise. Does something slightly wrong, everybody punishes him way harder than they should and gives no credit for his otherwise usually good nature.

I don't think any of the last few commenters have actually been in Arthur's situation. I was out of work at Christmas 1986 and although I never thieved anything, I got dangerously close to the way he went. All right, so Arthur's fictional, but this scene is probably the most dramatic way in which EE shows what can happen in real life. There but for the grace of God went I.

@ThorneAstor They tried the Happy Christmas in 2003 with Kat and Alfie getting married and 2005 when they reconciled after a short split and left but neither well recieved. Research has shown People don't want HAPPY in EE at Christmas.

I'm an American so I don't know much about EastEnders but I was wondering, is every Christmas episode so miserable? I've seen many videos of EastEnders and every Christmas, someone has either died or did something else that's rather depressing.
