+Alimony Slim -"Forever Changes" is my number one Love album, but the vastly underated "Four Sail" is a close second. They both occupy a spot in my top 20 records of all time.

I think had some of the best tracks on The Blue Thumb Recordings been given the same treatment as the arrangements on Forever Changes or Four Sail, it would have been a top to bottom masterpiece like Forever Changes. Hendrix bug finally bit Arthur Lee HARD by this point, lol. 'Four Sail' album doesn't get enough credit as being one of the stronger entries in the Love catalog and has continued to age well ever since its 1969 release. Always dug that particular lineup, felt they should've toured with Jethro Tull, King Crimson, and the aforementioned Yes around that time period... :-)

+Jeff Finn -Jay Donnellan was one of the best and most stylistically diverse guitarists of the 70's. "Four Sail" and "Out Here" really show his amazing talent. Unfortunately he's almost unknown, unless you're a Love fan of that era.

+Alan Dens . Saw this incarnation of LOVE in Croydon in 1970. I was in LA in 1975 and hung out with my brother Martyn at John Sterling's place. Suranovich was surely an amazing drummer, sorely missed and RIP. But he gave me hell for changing TV channels when he went off for an hour to the beach to look for grunions...whatever they are.

For many years Love were no more than a cult. I first heard Alone Again Or in 1982 and fell in love with Love. As many have already posted Four Sail is vastly underrated. But all of their first albums are classics. Love should have been much bigger then they were, but for various reasons Arthur did not want to leave LA to tour or play the promotional game. The influence of Love has grown in importance over the years. The fact that they are Robert Plant's favourite band or that all of the Doors were in total awe of the band says it all.

First four albums...

Not as young as Bryan Maclean. He was the 1st of the 60's cohort to die (not including the 27 club).
