One of my favorite special pieces for both organ and voice...a wonderful story from the heart of an Organist.

the lost chord. .. I love Gilbert and Sullivan, but it seems to me such a pity that Sullivan's other work is so neglected Diane Bish, thank you for this rendition of Sullivan's THE LOST CHORD

Originally composed for voice and piano, I feel as if this was very well done, and stops and settings built to a beautiful crescendo to Heaven. Thank you for your ministry of music.

heard this on Pipe Dreams last night & it was my favorite from the entire program. the last quarter of this piece is monumental. even her body language is endearing - she radiates confidence! edit: thanks to a lovely lady named Cheryl, i tracked down the exact DVD that contains this performance (via The Joy Of Music website).

It's supposed to end in a blaze of glory

Doesn't it? It sounds pretty glorious to me.

I agree! It was never meant to die away like that! Disappointing on such a great instrument.

I prefer the sung version. Even if the words are slushy, it's beautifully written.

Quite agree, Richard. Adelaide Proctor's words are, frankly, nonsensical, but Sullivan's treatment of them is quite magnificent.

Such a pity about the 'morendo' at the end - should have ended on a much higher note! Check Sullivan's original score.....

I was disappointed with the ending. It was anticlimactic. I liked Virgil Foxes arrangement better.
