Thank you for joining me again today friends! This week I'm going to use the Amish Friendship Bread sour dough starter I made in my last video! I'll be making a very easy & delicious artisan crusty bread! You actually CAN make a LOT more with the starter than just Friendships Bread! You're going to love this recipe! Crusty Artisan Amish Friendship Bread:
1 C Amish Friendship Bread starter
1 1/2C lukewarm water
2 tsp yeast
1 T salt
5 C flour
cornmeal as needed
olive oil to coat bowl
pan of water
1. In a stand mixer bowl with dough hook, add starter.
2. Pour water on top and sprinkle on the yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes.
3. Add salt & flour gradually
4. Blend on low for 5 minutes until dough pulls away from the sides and forms a nice ball
5. Oil a glass bowl
6. Place dough ball in bowl, cover lightly with plastic wrap and let double (as long as it takes)
7. Sprinkle flour on work surface and add dough
8. Cut dough in half
9. Sprinkle a 16" x 12" pan with cornmeal
10. Place dough side by side on pan, but not touching
11. Cover and let rise until doubled in size (as long as it takes)
12. When ready, lightly sprinkle w/flour or cornmeal
13. Cut a pattern on the top with a sharp knife
14. Place in a preheated 425 degree oven with a pan of water underneath
15. Bake 25-30 minutes or until golden brown
16. Check for doneness by thumping (should sound hollow)
