'Soft Cell 2 is a sequence of three individual pieces, in a series which explores the allure of surrendering our agency in return for a deep comfort - a kind of paradox in the idea of a padded cell. The idea of comfort interests me - its capacity to soothe, but also to seduce or anaesthetise. I hope to leave the viewer mildly unsettled, caught between a delicious anticipation of being enveloped, and anxiety at the potential for being suffocated or consumed.'
