Every now and then a visionary artist comes along; one who turns the whole art world on its head. Hailing from Switzerland, contemporary glass master artist, Simon Berger, creates 3-d portraits using a hammer to smash, lacerate and crack laminated safety glass. Inventor of this technique, the art form plays with light and transparency, which Simon calls Morphogenesis.
He creates beautiful things from destruction, but light emerges from the destruction. He creates disorder in the realm of light and, in order to make the portraits really 'pop', he creates dimension through light and dark, thus creating depth and perception.
This is Aurum Gallery's first solo exhibition and what and incredible artist they have chosen. I predict that this artist will be huge, certainly in terms of his influence to future 'glass shatterers'.
For me, this work borders on genius - nobody has produced this type of work before,
To find out how he does it, watch until the end...
