I can't believe something so beautiful was performed in a school gym :o I got so lost in her skating I didn't even notice the surroundings at first.

Thanks guys such nice comments :) this was quite a few years ago now, although still my favourite programme to perform! I am hoping to get some new videos uploaded including last years where I became the British senior solo dance champion and was lucky enough to go to the European and world championships competing alongside my younger sister ❤️ xx

What even!? I'm a figure skater and I stumbled across this and was like, what the frickle frackle is Artistic roller skating and I watched and was like OH ITS JUST THE SAME THING AS ICE SKATING BUT ON LAND. It looks really amazing but I'll stick to the ice lol

It's been around about the same amount of time to. But it never got the publicity that ice skating did. But it was on the wide World of Sports several different years. You can see some of those clips on KZfaq also. Also clips from regional and national championships to. In fact roller figure skaters can do heel camel spins. I'll bet you can't do that on ice skates. Don't forget that several world famous ice skaters started out on roller skates and had to switch over to ice because they wanted to be in the Olympics. Tara lipinski was one of those and several others that I can't remember. There's a video of her on KZfaq on roller skates winning a roller skating championship I believe. Now you know that figure skating is also done on roller skates and has been for a long time.

2022. This the most beautiful interpretation of Swan Lake I have ever seen. I wouldn't be surprised if she was a ballet dancer too. She didn't miss a note. Every move /step had meaning. You never see that in figure skating anymore. Artistic is better in that respect, but this is best.

Roller skating free dance, freestyle, figures, and compulsory dance used to be a lot bigger sport than it is now. It has drastically shrunk in the last 25 years or so. They used to occasionally be on wide World of Sports and you can see some of those old videos on KZfaq. You can also see portions of state and national championships on KZfaq.

Literally hundreds of roller rinks have closed down around the country in the last 25 to 30 years. This sport has never gotten the recognition, promotion or respect that it should have gotten. everything that can be done on ice skates can be done on roller skates just as well. in the 60s 70s and 80s roller rinks would compete against each other on a regional level putting on shows and Big show numbers like the ice capades put on in southern California every year. I was in some of those show numbers and had a blast doing it.

I’m so confused I’ve been watching a lot of ice skating and didn’t know it was possible to roller skate like this?!! I thought roller skating was too wobbly to have these smooth motions. Wow.

Hi I saw u and ur sister at Haywards Heath FARS spring solo and u and ur sister were amazing. I saw u get ur awards and I was like 'Lol no surprise there. They're both really good skaters!'. I was the very last competitor on Sunday 11th March, doing Carlos Tango with my friend, Nicola. We came 4th out of the 5 that were doing it but we weren't sad because we came almost last. We were impressed with our efforts. For our club, which is only 2 1/2 years old, it's good to have gone to a FARS event in such a short time. Fingers crossed we are invited next year. Before going to it, I was more keen on Freeskating, but now I'm loving both.

Four more videos on KZfaq on freestyle check out roller skating senior freestyle. You might see some world champions there. This video is free dance judged mostly on music interpretation where jumps and spins are usually not allowed except very minor jumps and spins of one rotation or less.

My first FARS Event is in Haywards Heath in March, the day after my birthday lol (10th March). I'm doing Carlos Tango and Skater's March in a couple. It's all going well so far, so gotta wait and see what March will bring. I hope you're there so the whole audience can appreciate some world-class skating! Well done. This was beautiful. All of them free turns were so fluent and amazing. GOSH I so hope I can skate like you one day!

How many competitions like Bolton or Tyne Tees or Haywards Heath would I need to be competing in the championships and what are the requirements? I know I'm a VERY long way off that level, but I hope to get to that level one day. That's awesome to hear you will be there. My mother and gran are coming to watch, and my gran loves expression and dance

Did you get inlines? It's easier to apply those skills onto blades than on roller skates. Plus the weight difference is kinda big..

Wow, she's good, does she entertain at parties? Just kidding. I competed back in the sixties and seventies for a few years myself. Figures, freestyle, but mostly dance. Why was this in what looks like a gymnasium? Was this in Hayward California and was it after the local roller rinks had shut down? Go Valle Vista! Gone but not forgotten.

I haven't seen anyone use in-lines for figure skating before (I assume it's more difficult) in-lines are more for speed skating and slalom skating :)

they make inline figure skates with a rocker so you can spin and jump. They are called Snow Whites or Pic Skates!

I‘m 16 years old and I never actually skated but I really want to do this.. I never did much sport and it is one of my biggest dream since I was a kid to iceskate but I couldn‘t because there weren‘t any lesson stuff near to me. So can someone please be honest with me: if I try to try to skate everyday, do you think I can to this?? :(

literally the same story with me. i'm just putting my skates everyday and doing something, sometimes even just standing around lol. I've been following tutorials from dirty school of skate on youtube and i was able to balance on one foot + go backwards in literally 2 days! you can do this!! :D

she's not a wannabe ice skater. She's an artistic roller skater. It's a different sport with many similarities. Very popular in countries like Italy and Brazil.

I'm a figure skater but not in ice because my country doesn't haves winter games or something, roller is harder anyways but is too sad to see that people doesn't appreciate this beautiful sport. I've been practicing it since I'm 5 and I had been always waiting for it to get more people but it's just imposible. It has been almost 10 years of me practicing this sports all days since 5 and is beautiful and hard as well but yeah.

The amount of talent required for one of these skills is ridiculous. To be able to execute both at the same time and so beautifully is just unfair to the rest of us. 🤣🦢🛼🩰
