I once ran head first into a Max Headroom barrier when I was pissed one night and trying to get a bus home from Manchester. I woke up the next morning with a cracked rib, chipped collar bone, and a massive gash across my forehead. I told everybody I got into a fight because it was marginally less embarrassing than the truth. As far as I know my mind wasn't downloaded whilst I was unconscious though.

Max def represented the new tech in my mind back then, even though he could never done by CGI or AI at the time. . As sc-fi goes he was a mascot for what nerds hoped the net could become, a true hope in dystopia. Unfortunately irl social media has polarised our world into a dystopia none could have imagined possible. Max makes a better and more positive "mascot" than FB ,KZfaq, TikTok or twitter I think. . I dunno, perhaps you have a better suggestion along different lines but I tend to think Max will do for twenty minutes into the future. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/l8CJYNyCvrzKY2w.html Edit: ZicZac, TikTok... same same...

@@lordchickenhawk Max Headroom tackled massive censorship, corporations more powerful than governments, the SCAM of transhumanism (upload your consciousness and become immortal), people living "off the grid" without their ID2020 digital implants (Blank Reg), genetically-engineered humans (Baby Gro-Bags), and so many other dystopian topics that we're experiencing today. It was way ahead of its time and could never be remade because that level of truth-telling simply isn't allowed anymore. What a great series though... an absolute classic.

back in 1986 disneyland had an area by it's a small world called 'videopolis". it was a place for younger guests to dance and mingle. the dance floor was huge and video monitors from small to verrry large were all over the place to show music videos. the sound system was awesome, like concert level sound. so one night i was there frying on LSD (it was 1986,ok ?),and stopped at videopolis to watch the people dancing and the videos. suddenly "paranoimia" came on and this music was pounding, max headroom was on every screen talking about getting to sleep, and a sea of bodies were bouncing and swaying to the music on the dance floor. i was on a elevated walkway and this whole scene was right below of me. i don't recommend anyone taking acid today, but damn is that a night i'll never forget.

The Top 40 was so diverse back then. This, Peter Gabriel, Bon Jovi, Run DMC, Madonna, Prince, Chris De Burgh, George Michael, Europe, Boris Gardner, The Communards, Diana Ross, Mr Mister, The Housemartins, Robert Palmer, The Bangles, Level 42, Genesis, Kim Wilde, Huey Lewis & The News, Swing Out Sister... It'll be highly unlikely any one person will like all of these, but it was so much more interesting than the chart today where nearly every singer and every song seems to be conforming to some kind of clone.
