Soma could have beat him with anything he wanted. Artosis lost when he couldn't fend off the muta micro. He will tell himself he had a chance, until his "CC didn't life when he told it" blunder, but like chess, the game was over long before he knew it, but the grand master knew it. Artosis cannot multi-task... It's that simple. His multi-tasking is too weak. Soma knew he could end the game by simply using his muta micro and perfect macro. By distracting artosis with his muta micro and getting his 3rd gas up, and mining his 3rd gas for MINUTES before Artosis finally tries to move out and attack... That's why he has freakin ultras coming in at 11 minutes LOL That's all any zerg needs to win in this match up, honestly. That's why Flash's builds are centered around attacking their 3rd base, at the optimal time, or at least keeping the zerg honest about when they are able to take their 3rd gas. He's too slow... Honestly, Soma can beat him with pure lings if he wanted. He just didn't want to embarrass him, but if Soma wanted to embarass Artosis, he could. The gap is that big...

I would tend to agree. I clicked on this video expecting to see an Artosis vs Soma game. Not some "fancy" edits of half of the game. (Especially since it seems this was a decent game, with Artosis making some very good moves.)

@@viniciusmagrin Yes, and he didn't patrol micro the valk so that it retreated back to the MM ball while firing. Turrets and MM alone can defend mutas pretty effectively, but not in a natural like that.

I mean, your at your base, and there is an overlord on a cliff and they put their valk on it only for all the scourges to fly in while it cant move and kill it.

because u need to put 4 marines in it. on the otherhand u can build ur army and turrets at the same time. marine vs muta is all about being able to have a large enough army to get on the map to pressure zerg while simultaenously not dying at home. if u use the marines u make for defense in bunkers you'll never be active on the map, by the time u move out with something zerg has 5 base already.

@@hasudrone2 At the stage when mutas are out and turrets are getting done, you have marines already and they are stuck in base regardless. When you attack zerg after stabilizing vs muta you can take out marines and leave one behind. It seems like zerg has ez time killing the turret and scv making it. A bunker has +1 armor and enough hp and surface to be repaired.

@@doctorstainy bunkers cost money and are worthless without marines in them. turrets will always defend once they are built. what happens if u defend ur expo with 3 bunker with marines and then u take them out to attack? if mutas come now u instantly lose all ur mineral line? u also cannot compare cost effectiveness of X marines vs Y turrets because u dont start out with 10 barracks. u need to tech/expand so u cant spend all ur money making 5 rax at start of the game. basically even if u make marines nonstop out of 3-4 rax its still not enough to defend with bunker/army. so turrets are needed on top of whatever comes out of the rax.

They don't have to. It's only ineffective because of the terrain on the natural or specifically the position of the mineral patch since turret range is useless without sight. If they take in your advice, it'll be like an anti-air Photon Cannon for only half a price.

I wonder if the issue is not with the Turret damage, but the fact that a mutalisk is considered a "Small" unit.

@@Xylasider Yeah, I wonder about that too. I get it with the Scourge, but Mutas shouldn't be considered "small," in size at least. Maybe Spire units are considered "light" flyers? Comparing game and lore design is weird at times.

It would be nice if you could upgrade turrets after building them. Like you could pick a turret and upgrade it to do more damage for a cost. That way, you could make turret fields more effective against mutas or arbiters without affecting the cost/benefit balance. Every turret would have a button similar to the morph lurker button that hydras have, and when you hit it, the turret goes offline for like 10 seconds and then comes back online with extra damage. maybe 50 more minerals to increase the damage by 50% or something.

So hard for terran to get to 3 though. Against Toss, you need critical mass of tanks to protect against cheap gateway units, and against Zerg, they can keep you pinned in your main and nat with Mutas. Any third you take is a huge risk that you're hoping won't be scouted because you can't defend it early. Look at last season of ASL. Light lost against Rain in the group stage by taking his "easy" third on Eclipse at a good time, and just got run over. Arty's trying to play in a way which is consistent, but will often be stuck on 2 base for ages.

Arty did play SC2 for a while, but went back to Brood War because the way the mechanics work to affect gameplay is genuinely something he enjoys working on.

Pretty much all the SC1 pros that went to SC2 have come back, because SC1 is a straight up better game. Its more raw, simple (no crazy graphics or units that climb over wall) but so much more subtle. Rarely are there big deathball battles. Sometimes PvZ has 2 giant armies duke it out but mostly its about tactics: map control and harassment and what corners you try to cut
