Allen Parsons is a genius. He didn't get where he is today without his great knowledge and Love of music. He is a God of music. He's not even close to being scary . What's wrong with people. It's so immature to even say your scared of him. He's a very Nice looking man. With impeccable talent. I'm thankful he's on this earth.

Totally agree. But, don't forget just how humble the man is. A genius with an ego is annoying but highly respected (Einstein). But, a genius with humility is a treasure and a gift to humanity.

I can't believe I've just now come across this page... I'm one of those "Audiophiles" that is always looking for the perfect recordings to play thru my over priced system... but reality is, more important than any system is how good that recording is... and behind that is the engineer and producer.. Alan being a prime example of the best of the best.

Wow! What can you not love about Alan Parsons? Engineer/producer/singer/musician/host-voice over/genuine nice guy (everyone I've seen who has met him says he's a great guy)...and he has cats, dogs, chickens and a Clydesdale at his home with his family!

The guy knows his stuff when it comes to all aspects of recording and being a sound engineer.. on a side note, did anyone notice this, he does sound a lot like David Gilmour not only when he sings, but also when he speaks?

This a great summary of the history of sound recording, all in less than 10 minutes. The sixties were a great time for the development of recording techniques. I still have Alan's Eye in the Sky and Sirius on my iPhone. A couple of years ago, I rebuilt an Edison Cylinder Phonograph and made a short video on it. Restoration- Edison Fireside Phonograph (1911) plays again. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jZdze7CBx9S7YZs.html

He didn't mention Edouard Leon Scott De Martinville he was the one that first took a cylinder and a sheet covered with soot and discovered that sound waves were traveling through the air
@donhawk5763
@donhawk5763 8 жыл бұрын
+Jam Mack He was the first to physically imprint sound waves, but they were never intended to be played back. It was only through digital technology that they could be reproduced, albeit a century and a half later. This is why Edison gets the credit, since he developed a method for the actual reproduction of sound, while Martinville's invention only transcribed it.

Anyone else find it kind of odd/funny that the music at 1:54 is supposed to sound LIKE "Sirius," even though Alan Parsons himself is hosting the video? (I mean, I guess he's got to get permission from a few other rightsholders, Eric Woolfsen, among others, but still)

And all of this amazing technological achievement, the abilities, the equipment, the capturing, the reproduction, 20 to 20000 Hertz in almost that reciprocal of time! All wasted on a bunch of idiotic morons that think rap is music and a chord is something you use to close the drapes.

all of the studio people should simply visit more live concerts to know how the music originally sounds!!! most of the old "60-"70 sound much better than all this complex over-edited "all-sounds-equal" modern shit.

Fans all started stealing music. Paying musicians NOTHING for their work. Not good! And so what did the musicians all do? Keep on recording new music for the fans to get for free on the Internet. "If you don't give us all your music for free, we'll just go steal it anyway" is the new business model. NO PAY POLICY fans now expect the same quality music from ZERO BUDGET. Yes they actually think Alan will work to provide another 'Dark side of the moon' and then not get paid! Great business model! When I approached and gained the support from many people in the BEATLES camp twelve years ago I was trying to build a brand new Platform OWNED AND CONTROLLED by the musicians. The current business model is badly broken and working for free is not a business most smart people would go into! But HUNDREDS of millions of Hobbyists now think they can become Alan Parsons, LOL! My last few albums I worked with both Ian Bairnson and Chris Thompson from APP. And they both expected me to PAY THEM at the end of the session, LOL! And my last release was Uploaded to Illegal sites the WEEK BEFORE release date. People all enjoying Ian's wonderful solos but not paying me ONE DIME to help pay for Ian's skills! Yep. they all think this is fair! My friends in the Beatles camp know that GREAT MUSIC costs money! And FREE MUSIC is also NO BUDGET MUSIC. Not exactly good for helping future generations of musicians make QUALITY MUSIC! Is there a SOLUTION? Well, people like Alan Parsons need to DO SOMETHING to help the next generation of musicians get paid. Because this whole era of free music is a disaster for Professional musicians. Hey, I am retired and living happily in CA. I. did have people from the Beatles camp helping me as well as the AFM. But not the musicians. They were all too busy recording new FREE MUSIC for the fans! Hey I'm off to Stream Rip all of Alan's albums today! Yep, the new way of avoiding paying Alan for his amazing work. Guess he is okay with this?!

As much as I can appreciate Edison's invention, I can't dismiss his actions in the ways he promoted some of his work. For example, when he went across the country, in an attempt to demonstrate his DC power grid vs his competitor's (Telsa) AC power grid, Edison would electrocute elephants in front of large crowds. I'm not sure how many times he did this but even just once was enough for me to view Edison as a horrible human being.
