What Are Master Writs And How Can I Turn Them Into Gold In ESO?

There are a handful of different kinds of currencies in The Elder Scrolls Online, such as gold, alliance points, tel var, and writ vouchers, just to name a few. These vouchers are rewarded upon completing and turning in master writs. Vouchers can be used to purchase exclusive items that can then be sold for a hefty sum of gold!
In this video, I will briefly go over how to receive master writs, how to complete them, and a few pointers that should be kept in mind when you are looking to decide which writs you should strive to complete, and which ones you can get rid of (or sell on your guild store perhaps). I will also go over a few of the best voucher conversion methods on the PC NA server. These voucher to gold conversion methods will give you the most bang for your buck.
If you are a crafting enjoyer and find yourself with an excess of materials as a result of doing your DAILY crafting writs on a frequent basis, you may find that you can make a lot of gold by using those materials to complete MASTER writs to then, in turn, receive vouchers that you can convert into gold.

Hello! Because this video is meant to primarily discuss the notion of converting writ vouchers into gold, I only quickly summarized the process of completing a master writ, presuming that most of the people that clicked on this video would already know what one was if they are looking to turn writs into gold. Great video! I tend to buy up all the master writs I come across that don’t require perfect roe or nirncrux and stockpile them. Then I bang them out during 2X XP events to maximize their xp return value as well as getting my vouchers. I’ve leveled so many skill lines and skills this way on alts that I don’t play much. Pop those Aetherial pots or xp scrolls before the turn in, as they will stack with the event bonus. These babies are as valuable for leveling purposes as they are for more material gains!

Great video. I mostly complete enchanting and alchemy writs (mostly for xp) and the occasional writ that gets me 250 or more writs. I have a bank full of gold master writs collecting dust that I should probably sell within the guild.

So - in doing Master Writs - pro tip: -Stack up on master writs you can do -Pop an XP scroll, do during double xp events to stack xp -equip the Ring of the Wild Hunt -select Gardner House as your default house -go to a guild house (or your own if you have this) and do your writs at Grandmaster Crafting stations so you don’t have to hunt down the set craftables in zones -once you complete the 7 different writs, port to the OUTSIDE of your Gardner House -you’ll be a very short ride from the writ turn in on the other side of the gate Turn in and repeat I can easily do 100 writs in the time it takes XP scroll to expire.

I'm pretty new (6 months) and just getting serious about crafting and writs. Honestly, this video was incredibly useful for me for not it's intended purpose 😂 I'm not yet to the point of spending my vouchers on attunables and research scrolls to sell for gold....but I'll get there much faster knowing I can spend my gold on those things now!! 😂 🤣

6:00 You touched on the topic of game events affecting things, but I think it's worth mentioning specifically that everybody's about to bum rush Morrowind on the 20th for the Daedric War event. I assume this'll drop the price on furnishing drops there? Thanks for the vid!

Hmm that could be a possibility! Because there aren't any "world events" (harrowstorms, geysers, dragons, etc) that happen in Vvardenfell though, and therefore, there aren't as many sources for receiving plans, this may not necessarily be the case. I'd suspect that events in zones *with* world events (and likewise, quests that are associated with completing said world events) that reward furnishing plans would be the ones most affected by this argument. Fabulous video, professor? The folio item sales is a new idea to me but I am risk-averse. :( LOL I do use writworthy (PCNA )and run a batch of collected MWs at a time. The MWs are ordered and the tables are run in that order. Have the inventory space for the finished items and the master writs. You must be completely sober. my high elf GM likes to drink too much :( Before turning in the MWs use experience scrolls, foods whatever you have. It is not unusual to go up 2-4 CP levels per session. Some of my MCs are still using the mead XP buff! I sell (a lot of) stations. Thank you for sharing your insights for making gold from MWs.

I have a lot of jewelry mats so I do only jewelry with common traits.. In few months I already sold 2 transmute stations cca 900k per and still have 1 to sell.. For other writs I do legendary only and I have good guilds full of free jewelry writs

Great content, as usual! I’m wondering about the differences between PC and PS4 prices and master writs. I find (on PS4) that Woodworking writs are actually the WORST for cost/voucher. Rosin is the costliest gold resource (of Rosin/Wax/Temps) and the gold writs seem to trend lower vouchers than clothier / blacksmithing (I’d guesstimate 20-30% fewer vouchers on average). Weirdly enough, I’ve found a couple of sources of consistent writ vouchers that aren’t too expensive and don’t rely on crazy luck to find (or $1m motifs): 1) Big Provisioning Writs. - sure, if Perfect Roe is prohibitively expensive, I understand, but it’s 40 vouchers for 2 roe, and that’s ok. 2) Purple Nirnhoned Writs - These tend to give 20-30 writ vouchers for the cost of a fortified nirncrux. That’s *value*!

Ah, thank you for sharing your insights - the fact that materials have different values across servers was something that I was aware of when making this video, which is why I tried to make a point to mention that this primarily concerns the PC NA economy. I do find it interesting that rosin is so expensive on console though - it's barely a quarter of the cost of dreugh wax on NA! Ohh yes, those purple nirnhoned writs are *chefs kiss* so good!

@@Arttea I think part of it is that on PC there is add-on for marking down resource nodes while console you have to find a spot and memorise it which can forget the exact route if need multiple ones. I have routes for blacksmithing and jewelry but my ancestor and wood routes are less efficient in comparison or not solely dedicated to those resources. The easier one to harvest is rubedo as if know spot with monster spawn can farm it. we also have bots and believe they get more value from killing monsters since each bot gets to loot instead of nodes. I could be wrong but yeah I assume that it plays a role as when I watch guides on farming resource they use the add-on or say to download the info from it. The closest that console could do is look online at people's info and estimate where exactly. That may be why the mob farming one is cheaper compared to node farming one.

You play on NA? Because on PS4 EU wax is currently the most expensive out of those three and tempering alloy is the cheapest. Considering that most players use medium or light armor, it makes sense that wax would be more expensive.

Finally somebody paying attention to theartwork I’ve been doing the same thing spent millions on them. I do not believe so. A LOT of the player base already had access to Morrowind, so I doubt this will affect the prices of Morrowind Furnishing plans at all.

They won’t be worth the same amount of gold because our economies are very different. But they should still be verity a decent amount because of how tricky it is to obtain them. Definitely check to see how much attunables are worth on your server before you decide how to ultimately spend your vouchers!

With the new armory there is no excuse for not having at least one build that is straight up krafting. All the points in krafting, master all skills and knock that sh*t out like a boss.

You are correct in specializing a GMC but get all the motifs you can for the MWs too. Armory? nope. just grind researching all traits (master crafter) first and then buy motifs or farm them for your GMC. (now about 104 sets) set deconstruction CPs to max and set to bar. I use a separate "picker toon" with antiquarian for farming and the d@mn surveys.

My story I'm sticking to is that I like to sell stuff quickly, and that I only recently even realised daedra hearts were worth selling and that I had a fair few. I *may* have just had to put your vid on slo mo to see if I'd made an unwelcome guest appearance... :/ This is right up there with the time I saw JHartEllis had bought some stuff from me as a way of finding out I might be selling a bit too low. :)

Great vid. I recently did daily writs on 13 maxed out characters, and was not impressed with the return on my "labor". I mainly did it because I wanted to farm masters writs/resource surveys, and I was unemployed. The drop rate was pretty bad for both though. I hardly got any decent master writs, and most were either lowly alchemy writs or purple/gold jewelry ones (which are the worst return on your vouchers). The surveys were a little better, but I did not get the resource return I had expected. I started with about 20k ruby ore for example, and by the end I was down to about 14k. Not a big deal, but not sustainable in the long run. The silver lining was that the drops I got on tempering alloys were decent, so I can bank some gold there. I agree everyone should be doing daily writs on at least one toon, but would recommend going all out like that. Who knows, maybe I just had really bad RNG, it happens.

By my calculations, turning Diminished Aetherial Dust into gold is the most lucrative - you get about 2500 gold per voucher

This WAS how I made my gold in ESO, I have 8 toons, ALL max lvl on ALL crafting skills. I would stock up on Tempering Allow and Rosin, then go ham on the writs. TTC doesn't update fast enough and people are listing the Legendary Sealed Writs so that "gold to writ voucher ratio" is negative. Take into the account of the mats used to craft the writs, it's a net loss. I believe the "Crowns for Gold" is wrecking the economy. Now instead of working for your gold, you can just use IRL money. If people can obtain vast amounts of gold in an instant, sellers will continue to raise prices cause they know someone will fork out the IRL cash. ZOS isn't going to do anything about it as it is more revenue for them. I've been playing since beta, as of last week I've uninstalled ESO.

I personally think it would be really neat if you guys got addons or more quality of life features! Idk why PC players would complain.

100s of master writs and not one that did Not require dlc. Sucks for us free players. Sucks even more 9 out of 10 won't even sale. So when you talk about "under" selling master writs and I can't even sale one for 100g per voucher we must not be on the same sever. ;)

Are you saying that you needed a DLC style learned in order to complete a writ? Fortunately, master writs do not require DLCs to complete. You can learn the styles regardless of whether or not you own the DLC (ex: you can buy the fang lair motif from traders and learn it despite not owning the Dragon Bones DLC) and you can travel to a guild hall in order to access all of the crafting stations. Completing master writs is a feat that is available to all players, including free to play players. I also don’t recall mentioning anything about selling the writs themselves. 😅 This is a video that focuses more on writ vouchers.
