Love the irony that Arturia, a company founded on soft-synths, offers some of the best anti-computer hardware solutions out there lol. That's definitely how they got me as a customer.

I can tell they like music, and that’s why I like Arturia. Specialization be damned, they had an idea and they managed to totally kill it AND integrate their hardware offerings with their software library. Killer company.
@BeniRoseMusic2 жыл бұрын
I think about this all the time! Not only some of the best anti-computer hardware, but they were a key player in kicking off the analog revival with the Minibrute! They really shifted the whole industry to prove that analog gear could be more affordable, and that people wanted it. From a software company!

This product is a godsend for those looking to efficiently interface between hardware and a DAW. It really takes the tediousness out of working with old gear not suited for modern studio needs. I love it because I now have way more time to work on arrangement, mixdown etc...

Awesome demo and jam!!! Love the aphex-esque grooves. I am ready to cash in some christmas gift certificates, and also recently sold a synth, I think I'll go with the beatstep pro. Although I keep looking at the electribe 2, and novation circuit, While those two are more portable, I think my best option is to go with the bs pro, and grab arturia's v collection while they have it on sale, to add a bit of soft synth in with the analog stuff in my setup.

Good tutorial/review... I just purchased one for 150$ at Sam Ash and the Midisport 4x4 to hook up all the volcas to it and it is AMAZING! Worth every penny! I have the Beats, Bass Keys running to it but I kept the sample out so I can manually control it. The keys is running thru my Keylab - BSP - Midisport which lets me control its parameters with the sliders and stuff. While everything is running to ableton for effects. Its hours of fun! Thanks for the great break down! Is it possible to be able to play your Juno (so not through the pads) and have the beat step pick up the notes. I'm also stuggling to find out is it possible to record in motion sequencing and get the Beat step to pick it up. So for example the way you would press record on a volca bass and it would pick up all the knob turns to creat a dynamic motion sequenced bass line, can this be done and picked up as a sequence on the Beat Step? cheers!

question: with a controller keyboard attached, can you transpose the sequences? So for example, have your left hand holding a C on a controller keyboard, then playing F . . . will the Sequencer(s) also move with the note played? Thanks!
@TJ-hs1qm7 жыл бұрын
For anyone not into sequencing modular gear the novation circuit might be a much better alternative. It comes with an actual polyphonic sequencer, which the BSP lacks. For instance if you own external gear like the Erebus with has two voices (2 OSC) you would have to program both sequencer lanes of the BSP to make the most out of the Erebus. Using CV you could lay both OSC when on the same gated step. So if you are most likely going to use midi anyway than try the NC orse a good ol MPC which still is the best midi solution . Comes with 4 midi outs, polyphony and as mayn tracks as you need. Compared to this the BSP feels like a backstep. If you plan to seq. a Volca Sample mind you not as easy as they tell you.

How well, if at all, will the drum lane work with a percussion set on a keyboard synth? Specifically I'm wondering about the Nord Lead 2x; would like to be able to control the Lead's percussion banks with this, but I'm not sure how well that'll work.

great video, just bought one. Some questions, in this video whats connected through Midi Clock Out? I want to connect a X0XB0X a Microbrute and the MFB 522, how will I do that the best and if I just want some others to follow from the Beatstep Pro with Midi whats the best way to connect them without interfering with Midi signals? for example can I connect something through from the X0XB0X?
@SourceDistributionTV8 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The Juno was connected via MIDI, not for clocking but just to trigger its voice note by note. There's a number of different ways to connect them, you might just need to get a MIDI Splitter (e.g Kenton THRU5, MIDI Solutions Thru, ESI MikroThru) if you don't have a MIDI Thru on the x0xb0x - that'll let you 'clone' the Beatstep's clock to send it to clock multiple devices when those devices don't have built in MIDI Thru ports to pass on the data to the next machine.
