Listening to his explanations and his putting his personal self, which is so basic and yet so true, I am sitting here and the tears are rolling down my face. "The Sound" not what others are playing, but what you want the instrument to express your true feelings and what you think the music wants to express. The joining of these two things are what makes me happy.

Absolutely right on the money. More than anything else he said, the part about giving thanks, that we are able to spend our time on an artistic pursuit, rather than just trying to survive day to day. It sets the tone for getting the focus right and making the time in the woodshed count. So many times I know I get frustrated because I can't do what I want to do with the trumpet, because I have so much 'me' in the effort. Let go, and let God, make a joyful noise to His glory and He will use you as His instrument. Thank you Mr. Sandoval for putting the focus where it needs to be.
