Hi Fulton, Another brilliant idea! Love the textures and colors you built up. You are the color and stencil guru! One technique suggestion - when you are done inking up the gel plate with the brayer, flip the brayer on its back when you set it down on your pad and you won’t get paper stuck to the remaining ink. Also, it protects the rubber from becoming flattened out over time. When I forget to do this, I always have paper stuck to the brayer and it makes for an additional hassle when in the midst of work.

If you want to clean your plastic masks which have built up dried paint, try soaking them in a mixture of water and Murphy’s oil soak. You may have to soak overnight. Usually works great to dissolve acrylic paint.

With acrylic paint pens you do need to have intervals for more shaking between (priming) and sometime just depress the nib again one time and shake to keep the flow up. I use them when I make my Christmas Cards but I havent thought of using them on the Gel Plate.

Very interesting results. Print 2 maybe did not show its full beauty under the camera till you got closeup. But that is blacks in general… both complex results it will be interesting to see how print 3 evolves. So interesting that the resist just seems to vanish! And leaves you with a nice bonus too…. Such simple and ubiquitous items… there are, I believe, a lot of different resist techniques, I have not found the usual ones recommended for Gelli that effective, but maybe it takes something more adventurous…

Ease of lift and oil resist surface interest incentivise staying with this method for a while. You hint at how geology works to create its formations from the different elements. With all those layers it is a pity acrylic, unlike oil, does not lend itself so easily to a bit of sanding back for yet another reveal, but you may solve the problem one day if you are so motivated, Fulton.

@@artwhisperer88 your work is beautiful and getting better. The oil resist is great progress. The is may be a little soon for you, but it might be time for you to get into a gallery, or set up an online webpage where people could see and possibly purchase. You should mat them in a size that fit a standard size frame to save you lots of money getting some ready to hang. When you mat them you should leave a little white margin on the outside of the print. Then you might use mat board of other colors. Just saying. Your work really is gorgeous.
