Depending on where you live the water is not enough, during the hottest part of the day the water will get to warm for the fishes. Good idea, quite creative.

it gets pretty stinking hot where I am in Perth western Australia, but you put in a filter and pump, and then some lillies and the fish do okay.

We live on a farm. there are ponds, some very small, some only little creeks, often some will dry….but inevitably fish show up….They get brought in on the feet of water birds. So keeping them in a place that has water and keeps water….what the heck is your problem? You must live in a damn city.

People are so cruel on social media. I thought this was very creative and I enjoyed watching the process. My only question is, how long does the umbrella last beneath before it begins to visibly deteriorate and what do you do at that point? Or, have you not gotten to that point yet? 😅 Either way, very creating and pretty!

They are just saying that it helps the fish to transition into the umbrella water. If it is a different temperature from the bag it can shock them to dump then in directly. You may have done this off camera, but in case you didn't, the best practice is to place the entire bag in the water to balance the temperature before dumping them in.
